How to Plan Anything (So You ACTUALLY Get It Done)

  • Have you ever started something but never finished? In this video, I'll show you the P.A.T. technique so you can learn how to plan anything and actually get it done.
As an entrepreneur, my day is full of creating plans and executing them, and as more and more fill my plate, I've learned a specific planning technique to make sure I finish what I start.
If you don't have a "plan for planning" what can end up happening is you'll pile up a number of goals and to-dos that can lead to procrastination, it can have you feeling unaccomplished, and ultimately you might even give up.
We don't want that to happen.
Use the P.A.T. technique to make sure you follow through on what you start?
Once you learn how this works, let me know in the comment section below what you're hoping to plan next, and how this technique might help you.
    Thanks, and happy planning!

So simple! I’ve used Post Its for organizing for years...but I never seem to get out of my own way in the execution phase. Step 3 of “Take It & Make It” is so simple and exactly the technique I needed for getting one task done at a time.
I am finishing up the first draft of my first book right now and each chapter has color coded Post Its for each subsection of each chapter. Pulling one Post It at at time and checking each one off is the plainly simple (“DUH!”) technique I needed to work make my writing time laser focused. Thank you for that, Pat!

OMG, this is so simple and yet so powerful! I am a visual type, so I will try this asap. I'm starting my own business and this is exactly what I needed. I have a bunch of ideas all the time, but never seem to accomplish them as I wish. Sometimes I don't even write them down, since I think to myself it's stupid to have an idea, that I can use only in a few months, when the business is running... Now I can write down as many ideas as I want! Great video! Thanks again!!! :)

Thanks, Pat! Love it. This is what schools I've worked at uses when we brainstorm ideas. We used the Design Thinking model (Stanford's D.School) and like you said, writing one idea at a time on a single post it with a sharpie forces us to use less words and get to the point. I've used this when I teach my K-12 students to get them to think visually. I like your idea of taking 1 post it and work on that and put it away when done. Love it! Peace!

Pat loves his Post-It-Notes. I am planning on building a project with my podcast community using Facebook Live. Each week I will build a small part of the kit to show them how easy it is to put it together and use, and at the end, I will have a live demo of what we built together. Post-It-Notes will help break down how much work needs to be done in each Facebook Live session.

I mostly use checklists instead of post-its. The satisfaction of crossing each item helps me to keep going so that I can cross the next one.
I break my goals down to very very small tasks and I attach a star rating to it, each start represents 30 minutes.
The star rating helps tell my lazy brain "Just do this for 30 minutes and it'll be done! Then you can go back to TH-cam".
That's how I tackle big tasks like starting my blog(easysoftwaredeveloper.com/) and building software.
