*NCT* stands for *Neo Culture Technology* is the whole brand that have sub units under them, that is *NCT 127, NCT Dream, NCT U and WayV. Their concept is to have unlimited amounts of members & currently they have 23 members* total. The oldest member was born in 1994 and the youngest member was born in 2002. They're under *SM Entertainment* and they're under the same company as EXO and Red Velvet. Are one of the most diverse group in Kpop because they have members from all over the world.

*NCT 127* [ one two seven ] is their permanent unit that have fix members, 127 is the *longitude of Seoul city* which is the origin of kpop. NCT 127 is the 2nd sub-unit of NCT. Have concept to bring kpop to the worldwide. NCT 127 debuted on July 7th 2016.
The members are : Taeyong [ NCT 127 Leader & overall NCT Leader ], Taeil, Johnny, Yuta , Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo, Mark , Haechan & Winwin ( currently not active bc he's focus promoting in WayV ).
*NCT Dream* is the 3rd sub-unit of NCT. NCT Dream is a unit based of aged, they only have teen members,once they hit adult/legal age, they will graduate and move to other sub unit, and the group will have new members, but in 2020,their agency realese a statement that they will erase the graduation system and added Mark ( member that already graduated ) back in and change the system to be rotational unit with 7 members, so it's like some comeback they will have their complete 7 members. NCT Dream debuted on August 24 2016.
The members are : Mark [ graduated member ], Renjun , Jeno , Haechan , Jaemin , Chenle , Jisung.
*WayV or low-key known as NCT Vision* is a unit based in China. They're are the fourth sub-unit of NCT. WayV is under SM Entertainment's China exclusive label, Label V. The members are either Chinese or have Chinese descend. They promote in China and yup their songs is in Chinese. WayV debuted on January 17 2019.
The members are : Kun [ WayV leader ] , Ten , Winwin , Lucas , Xiaojun , Hendery , Yangyang.
*NCT U* is the first sub-unit of NCT. NCT U is based on genre/concept of the song, the U stands for United, means any member from any sub unit can join if they suit the concept, The members vary from each song. NCT U debuted on April 9th 2016.
In *2018* they also have big project called *NCT 2018* which have all of the members that currently active that year ( and they coincidentally have *18* members that year, *3* new members were added later in *2019* when they debuted the China unit *WayV* ) and realese album with the title track called ' *Black On Black* ' that they all participated in. They're released an album called "Empathy".
In 2020 NCT are back with their 2nd album called "Resonance". NCT 2020 Resonance is part of the "NCT 2020" project; which saw all current NCT members from several units collaborating on a full-length release. This time, the album features all 21 members from three current units of NCT; NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV, while introducing two new NCT members, namely Shotaro and Sungchan. The first part was released on October 12, 2020, with the second part was released on November 23, 2020.
Now, NCT are back with their 3rd album called "Universe". Only 21 members participated in this album because 1 member is in China and 1 member is on hiatus.

As said by another commenter - this is a song that was released not just for fans but any listeners with a positive message especially in the difficult period the whole world is experiencing right now. NCT’s well known trademark is “versatility and experimentality” in line with their brand: Neo Culture Technology. This means none of their songs is the same one note as you probably already heard/feel familiar with before (i.e. standard verse-chorus). They push the boundaries with weird yet addictive sound effects, unique beat and melody, mixed of multiple genres into one song, etc. so as an unspoken rule, fans always expect first listen to be confused, dislike, etc. and usually after multiple listens it grows on you and/or even become addictive.
I saw you have started to explore æspa which is their sister group from the same company SM Entertainment (also known as SMCU = SM Culture Universe) in terms of their experimentality…if you like their music, you will likely also enjoy NCT music. Some “hype” songs you were looking for:

Nct 2021 is collaboration of all unit of nct .. every end of the year they collab together for year end songs.. so now 21 of 23 member is present ..
Nct is their brand name but nct have 3 active unit..
