Had the Jester Race by In Flames and Heartwork/Surgical Steel by Carcass did not exist. There is a chance that this would be my favorite melo death album of all time.
Those are fantastic choices for melodeath. If I had to make a top 5 melodeath albums of all time, those albums you listed in addition to Slaughter of the Soul would be in it.
Wow! I remember the first time I heard about this band (Relative Theory Records in Norfolk, VA). It was a recommendation to me, and the year was early 00s. At the time I was into power metal (notably Symphony X). It wasn't till many years later did I actually hear ATG. I really liked this type of episode, especially the recording techniques! Awesome stuff guys!
@@forgemastermetal So true. Relative Theory was such an awesome spot, basically a place where you could hangout, listen to tunes, and even catch a live show. The owners were cool with people hanging out.
OMG...I can't believe it's been that long. Morbid Angel took them on tour of the US along with Dissection back when this was released. Unfortunately I was only 15 at the time so I couldn't get into the club they played in at my home town but they did do an album signing at my favorite record shop. I already owned all the MA albums so I picked up Slaughter even though I had never heard of ATG. Definitely one of the greatest albums of all time and definitely the best blind purchase I have ever made.
I heard slaughter of the soul In 2004. I Had just graduated high school and was working a shitty intern job at an audio company. A random dude that joined our team knew what I was listening to at the time and he gave me this record, and neurosis records. He literally changed my life. Haha!

I don't trust ANYONE who doesn't go absolutely BALLISTIC when they hear 'GO!'.
Dude, I went ballistic everytime I edited that live section with that in it. Haha
I don’t know what it is but you have like the perfect voice for this kind of retrospective, documentary style
Aww thanks man! You're too kind! This was a fun video to make. I hope people dig it so I can do more.
Man, this channel needs way more viewers. Awesome stuff.

Hopefully after the pandemic people will wanna do that kinda stuff again and we’ll see a cultural Renaissance. One can hope.
@@forgemastermetal Definitely. I just want a place I can hangout and chat about music with new people... that's not at a concert venue.

Dude right?! I was blown away when I saw it’s been 25 years. So legendary. Thanks for sharing!
Check this out, someone filmed one of the shows from that same tour.th-cam.com/video/3vcjDGv7z_A/w-d-xo.html

Thats an awesome moment man! I miss those days of getting CDs from a pal and it changing your life.
GO!!!
*Goes nuts*
The crazy thing is I'm over 50 and only discovered them with this record about two years ago.
Nothin wrong with that and never too late!
Darkest Hour-Hidden Hands of A Sadist Nation sounds like ATG. Tomas featured on this album.
Saw them together in NYC ~2007! AWESOME show. - Ben
First album I ever purchased online.
What a memory!
