He is my guru ! I just pruchased my little casita and I am implementing as many of the Freegan models as possible. I have been following you for over 8 years , finally got my family to trust me do to the Pandemic... so Native plant harvesting is in our future! Muchas Gracias Brad

Hey Brad, thank you for this series of videos and for sharing your experience. I lived in Tucson, in the "A" Mountain neighborhood. I lived there from 1997 - 2001. I was researching permaculture/xeriscape landscaping back then, but I didn't have the finances to re-landscape my home and I eventually moved back to the Boston, MA area to be closer to my elderly parents. Now my partner and I are thinking about retiring and we want to live a sustainable life. We've been downsizing and learning to be minimalists. My goal for my retirement is to educate myself on how to heal our broken world and share what I learn with others. I am now living in Detroit, MI. I have a small house on a good-sized, south-facing city lot. This will be my second attempt at gardening this year. I hope to have a rainwater collection in place before next winter. I am also working on a hoop house to extend our growing seasons. I like your problem-solving methods and general philosophy in living lightly on the land. Thanks again, Tracy.
Great interview! As my corner of the world is very wet, I thought that most of his techniques wouldn't apply to me.....BUT it's the principles he espouses that are transposable. Thought-provoking......appreciated his passion!
nice nice nice. Been looking forward to this since you were down there this past summer. New Brad Lancaster vids. How awesome. Wish he'd put out more himself
Hey guys, you took down the property tour?!?! Those were really interesting and inspiring videos. I came back to check his explanations on compost toilet maintenance and it's gone😢. Hope it's a mistake or something and you put them back up. We're in a -so far- year long drought here in the south of Spain and I would really love to check the tour again. Pleeeeeaaase put them back
It is refreshing to find someone who takes time to think and ask questions. Being an agent of change makes some uncomfortable but in the bend of culture change is on your side. Thanks for doing these videos and when the virus recedes I will visit the dynamic Old Pueblo again.
I own an irrigation biz in Phoenix and our goal is to get to where Brad is at. In the meantime we are trying program as many irrigation timers as possible to use the least amount of water as possible.
'Massive Carbon Skidmark" Brad! You are Adorable! A Water Wizard, Wordsmith, Mindful, Articulate, Aware, Entertaining, Creative & a Healer. You are a Treasure. Listening to your story of searching for solutions brings me comfort & hope- Thank you so much- please put more videos out! Sidenote: I think the sounds edited into the interview be changed to water running rushing, adding excitement but in a less startling way & matching the topic. Just my opinion- which are like assholes, everybody has one & they all stink! Except yours. Yours evidently has the sweet smell of citrus- I've gotta try that too. Rose petals should be are a great free option for females especially! Much love & gratitude :)*
Thank you 😊. This is all extremely helpful to us, as we are starting from scratch our food forest/homestead here in San Bernardino county, CA(high desert). At least for me, visuals really helps things come to life.
I appreciate Brad's take on "night soil" but what about those who have imbalanced biomes ie candida, h pylori, e coli and other infections? How do you balance it?
I already bought Brad's books and put his techniques into practice here in Sonoma County, California. Thanks for providing this great content! Very inspiring. Quick question... We use well water that's really high in iron and must soften it with salt to use in the house. Can't do gray water under the circumstances. Options?
Why are you softening it? You can oxidize iron to precipitate it out. If you are going to soften, greywater can be hard. Also, use your rain water instead of well water if you can. Lastly, potassium is a better softening agent if you have to do it.
I love this guy. If more of us had Brad's vision, enthusiasm/passion, and commitment, what a healthy planet we would be enjoying. Health is wealth.
Brad is such a good communicator. He is inspiring and definitely a spark.

He is an amazing teacher!
Fantastic interview, Rob! Brad is such a treasure trove of knowledge.
Brad you’re the man!
Good follow up to watching video about Mr. Piri. Glad to hear Tucson is enhancing the local biosphere naturally.
Sure is!
Just discovered this video. Great information! The sound during transitions scared the shit out of me though.
Sorry about the sounds during the transitions. That was a short lived experiment on this channel!

Thanks Rob! That was brilliant. I've followed a lot of what Brad has done and you managed an interview uncovering even more great information.
Glad you liked it!

Yes, yes and yes. Thanks!
You are welcome. More to come.
Great video thank you
Very informative and inspiring, thank you. I would have liked a bit of a tour of the set-up system/s as he was explaining each topic.
My friend Kirsten shot a great video a few years back that shows Brad's complete set up. th-cam.com/video/KcAMXm9zITg/w-d-xo.html
Brad will give a tour in the next video which should be published next Wednesday, January 15th.!

@@VergePermaculture Great, shall look forward to that. Always interesting seeing a video with Brad.
So how are we looking now since there has been no monsoon this year? Hope you're well
good interview, but ditch those segment wipes, will be too loud when watching at night XD
Okay.
Write a book on how to filter the stuff they are spraying in our sky’s.
I was thinking about buying land somewhere around Tucson but I'm unsure about which areas don't have strict codes for living off grid
Where is this community at? Would love to be a part of it. I’m local in Tucson

Microbes 🦠 eat them. Diversity in microbes can handle sooo many pathogens and chemicals. Need the whole team of microbes to do the work though.
Improper composting set ups heat is part of the sanitizer. There are good books that go into humanure and how to safely utilize it.
Do you have a list of native plants.

How do you apply this to the far north? I can see how it works in two seasons but what do you do during freezing weather.
Let the compost freeze. The humanure handbook is a great resource.
How much money to collect rainwater and get started farming in Tucson? Ballpark range
This was interesting. New friend Ruthie
Glad you liked it.
