Little Italy of Rome, New York

  • We all know Little Italy, of Rome, New York. I would hope so. It is the neighborhood of East Dominick street. The very street that many past mayors, have dumped millions of dollars into.
I begin the tour on Sixth street, which is overused with traffic getting to East Garden and Bloomfield streets. Going westward, I pass Pinti Field park, which is currently being resurfaced with asphalt. It is a popular city park, though the skateboard area, should be used for something else, once the skate park in Bellamy Harbor, is completed. Certainly am hoping that the eyesoreof the Revere factory, on East Dominick, is removed, as past mayors promised over three decades ago. Rip-it-down, build a new structure(with federal, state, and private grants), and get a new company to occupy. With the glacial speed of Mohawk Valley EDGE(Google-it), it'll be another thirty years before the property is profitable.
Onwards to the rest of Little Italy, viewing Fifth street, Basile avenue, Fourth street, Houston street, Byrnes avenue, Second street, Palmer avenue, and First street. Nice neighborhood, though many homes are decaying. Homes that have not and desperately need some paint or vinyl siding. Windows are just as old as the homes, and are useless for saving money heating homes.
What is sad, is that the original, classic buildings of East Domincick street were destroyed, in the name of Progress. If those structures were still standing, East and West Dominick street, would truly be a tourist destination. Politicians made a grave error, with urban renewal, which today, is called urban revitalization, which has little effect for a city's growth, and the state grants, are more of a coercing opportunity to buy votes for politicians, such as the governor's office.
But what do I know. I'm just another Northern Deplorable, with barely a high school diploma, and a privilege to vote.

West end of Rome, New York. That's Alot of Bricks. Liberty & West Dominick Streets. Liberty Street of the Copper City. Rome New York's West Dominick Street!! Those are the titles of the West end. Soon as this rain goes away, I will do a video of neighborhoods between West Liberty and Erie boulevard.
