I recently lost a very dear friend. She was the sweetest, kindest person I ever had the blessing of having in my life. She was always a huge fan of Miami Vice and of Don Johnson in particular We used to watch them together in the time we spent. Miami Vice was the best show on television ever. The cast was awesome and the music was phenomenal. I wish we could bring the show back somehow. The most beautiful memories of my childhood was when I watched Miami Vice. Miss the cast and crew.
I just got done watching all 111 episodes at Peacock before they locked it in the vault. I laughed, I cried, I cheered. I re-realized just how great VICE really was.
I think we could bring back Sonny Crockett as Chief of Police and Rico Tubbs as the Lt. in charge of Vice. Then Rico's son, Ricardo, shows up and he and Sonny's son, Billy, team up and we have Miami Vice 2.0 or Miami Vice the Next Generation. Of course Sonny and Rico will have to make many appearances ♥️

I live in South Florida and trust me there are still plenty of crimes to be solved. Dick Wolf was very involved in quite a few episodes, maybe he'll see this and want a 10th show to add to his repertoire. Free Fall is a beautiful piece and it is a perfect coda for the final goodbye between Sonny and Rico. Jan Hammer s music was perfect for the first 4 seasons as the series was more vibrant and fresh. But, Season 5 was the end of an era, it was the end of Miami Vice as well as the end of the 80's. The tone of the series had changed and the characters had matured and become more world-weary ... especially Sonny. Tim Truman's haunting and emotional music, in my opinion, perfectly reflected the tone and the mood of the season.
It's so true. Jan Hammer supplied the beats for what? 2 and a half seasons. Then Tim Truman came along and he ran that ball all the way into The End Zone.
So much happiness and pain in this tv series. I watched then and loved it and I watch it now and love it even more because I reminisce of the best moments of my life.
Hands down one of the greatest scores! Wish I could have been around to see when Miami Vice was running. While watching the series recently, watching the very end of it and hearing this music made me feel like I was able to feel the end of that era. I really do think the 80's died with Miami Vice. It had the coolest fashion, clothing, music, imagery and so much more. If only time travel was possible, the 80's would be a decade I would love to live in for it's entire decade. I can gladly say me and some people of my generation are still keeping it alive by supporting and playing the music that came out then and buying vintage records, cassettes, VHS, you name it. Miami Vice will always have a great fan following and I'm proud to say that I'm a fan of the show even though I never got to see it during it's running years. The 80's will always be kept alive no matter what. And I honestly hope they bring back a lot of the things from then. Hell, vinyl is already coming back as well as cassette usage. Now we just need to bring back the clothes, the mullets, and the overall style. Long live the 80's! hahaha

Tim Truman and Jan Hammer may not have written the story lines to Miami Vice, but they fleshed out the background with their musical scores. To this day, no other "cop" show has filled the void of a timeless classic which is "Miami Vice."
Even though Jan Hammer's music to me will always be the "sound" of the show, I feel that Tim Truman brought much more emotion to the music. This track is a perfect example. Knowing what scene played out before this masterpiece makes it all the more meaningfull and hits pretty deep. I'm sure it will be the same for those who enjoyed the show as much as I have.
One of the best MV pieces! It played a few times in season 5 & always stood out to me. So many series today run 8+ yrs that it's sad to think MV burned out so quickly. Some of my fondest memories.
Just watched this episode. I did not know that it was aired before other episodes that where lost for a while or something, so this episode was not last on the DVD. Thought i had a few more episodes to prepare for the last ever episode but then right at finish i realized it was the final ever scene and almost cried, the end of the best partnership ever and the best decade ever. Cant imagine what it was like watching it at the time, this great era coming to an end, i would only be about 4 then. Tim Truman did such a great job of composing the music, it really added emotion to the scenes especially when things where getting darker as some of the characters began to breakdown
It was some kind of decade, where everything felt hopeful and new! I miss the 80's! MV was so new and different. The dialogue, the filming, acting..never seen anything like it before. It was just great the watch how Sonny and Rico would get of of trouble THIS TIME! And Jan Hammers music. And Tim Truman's added so much with the use of music at the time and previous decades. Hated to see it leave.

I don't think that Miami Vice has yet been equaled, and may never be equaled, because of many reasons, but primarily because the music of the era told much of the story. The writers and producers bet it all on the music and they made cinematic history by doing that. Yes, cinematic history.
Unfortunately all good things come to an end. My life in Miami in the 80's, the end of the show, the end of the greatest decade of music, none ever to be outdone. When I watched the last episode in 1989 it was closure, yes, and not many shows at all have that long a run, but MV was one of those stand out shows. I'm on my 3rd replay of my entire 5 DVD sets...its below zero outside, but I can smell that warm air and feel the ocean breeze as I sit looking out at a winter wasteland in Michigan.

This song and its opening was a perfect soundscape to Sonny standing there looking at the St. Vitus Dance for that final moment. It was sad that the Miami Vice movie was made in such a way as to eliminate any chance of Johnson and Thomas coming back in a Crockett and Tubbs cameo but then that assumes they would want too and that I'm not so sure of. But they made the 80's fun, no doubt about it.
We the first year fans all cried when we saw our favorite show ending slowly but surely m, gazing at Sonny's car speeding on the highway. Sonny's eyes swollen.. fake smile from Rico...what a pity
Tim Truman's stuff was BEAUTIFUL....I loved Jan Hammer but they should have allowed the TT music to be published....I guess they never did....this one and a few others are my favorites. He did wonderful work. Wonder where he is now.
Hope that at some future date and time Tim Truman's score for season five of Miami Vice will get an official release. A number of scores for various movies and tv shows have gotten complete releases in the last several years on physical media so I would think that it is not out of the question that this score could be released.
Not sure who's background music I like better in Vice...Jan Hammer did the backgrounds for seasons 1-3 and a few early episodes in 4, then Tim Truman in the majority of 4 and all of 5. Both have excellent backgrounds, only difference is JH had more in the background at all times then TT, but TT's major backgrounds really make a great show even more emotional, in 4 and 5 it was more on the emotions and less on the pure, unadultered action in 1-3.
