    What I've heard is that the first album was supposed to be called "Metal up your ass" but the record company did not allow using that name. So they chose "Kill 'em all" instead where 'em was referring to "all record companies".

    • @TokusatsuGamingfan
      @TokusatsuGamingfan ปีที่แล้ว

      That was Cliff that came up with the title "Kill 'em All" which originated because their original manager, Johnny Zazula knew that the record distributors wouldn't carry the album with the original name or artwork. "Those record company fuckers ... kill 'em all!" Those were Cliff's exact words.

      Kirk Hammett and Metallica suck! Dave was the better guitarist. Their first three albums when Cliff was alive were their best albums, and …And Justice For All (mostly because of the tribute to Cliff). I’m not saying The Black Album, Load, Reload, Garage Inc. are bad albums, just not as good. They stole Dave’s riffs that he had wrote for this album after they kicked him out of the band. I know though that he did not write riffs for every song on the album. They made The Four Horsemen by changing the lyrics of The Mechanix and slowing it down. (But I do give them credit, The Four Horsemen has the better lyrics, but…… Mechanix is the better song). Just know, I’m not starting a Metallica vs. Megadeth fight, because this has nothing to do with that. As for the band members, they should have kicked whiny Lars out of the band when they had the chance in 1986. They planned to do it after they finished the Master Of Puppets tour (but they didn’t because Cliff died, R.I.P. Cliff). As for Kirk, he’s not that great, he was great back in the day, but he started relying on using the wah pedal too much and now his guitar solos are boring and reused from previous Metallica songs, and just started to sound lazier and lazier and less creative as time went on, like he wasn’t even trying anymore. I can say the same about for James’ rhythm guitar playing. You can really hear it in the beginning of one of the songs from the Hardwired To Self Destruct album (I don’t remember which song, but yeah… the first seconds of it sound like Welcome Home Sanitarium, but played slightly different). Plus, I really hate James and Lars for treating Jason like shit when he was in the band, he didn’t deserve to be treated that way. Even if their excuse was that they just couldn’t accept that Cliff was gone. Btw, the St. Anger and 72 Seasons albums suck. I know that you’re probably mad, and I know that we’re only human and we’re not perfect, but you know everything that I said is true. There’s nothing you can say against the truth.

Currently if I had to pick a fave it would be the closer Metal Militia. The music and message of that song to me is what thrash was about. But really I love this whole album burtons bass song anesthesia (pulling teeth) is a masterpiece of bass work. Nearly unbelievable how young they were writing song, née compositions! Like this in their late teens early 20s!

    This is Kirk Hammett on guitar, he joined the band literally the same week they started recording this album. The story is that Metallica drove from San Francisco to New York with Dave Mustaine to record the album, and as soon as they got to New York they fired him because of his drinking was out of control. They ask Kirk (who was in Exodus at the time) to join the band and he flies to New York and they record the album in a week.

    The latter because that was the song my best friend Evert and I would listen to in the locker room before every highschool football game we had - it would pump us up so much - that song specifically. That was 1988. (we're still friends today - play D&D together every week, and we just got back from a camping trip with him and his wife). What's so unique to this album is that James hadn't really found his voice yet. If you've heard the demo tapes he sang with a kind of Sean Harris from Diamond Head vibe, but on Kill 'Em All he adds in the screaming, and you can tell he's not really used to it, but it does make the album feel more raw.

I never heard them at all but saw a small ad in the back of Circus or Hit Parader magazine and thought these dudes look like me and my friends. So I went to the local record store and ordered it. I still can be taken back to when I first put the needle down and the build up and then the explosion of adrenaline and excitement. I knew that I finally found the music I had waited my whole life for. It was a big deal being there for the birth and explosion of thrash metal. I am still a huge Metallica fan and always will be. They set the bar so high on their first 4 albums and sit atop the pantheon of the greatest band of all time. My favorite song off this album is The Four Horsemen. I know that you will love all of this ground breaking album. Enjoy!

    If my memory is correct this song was on a 'Metal Massacre' album in the early 80's and the story goes that even before the band was formed Lars got an offer from someone he knew that was involved with the 'Metal Massacre' albums to audition or send a recording and without a real band yet, just Hetfield, and with no finished song the offer was accepted, and the result was 'Hit the Lights' an apt name for the opening song of a great career.

    Kirk joined a couple weeks before recording the album. He recorded the leads, James did the rhythm. The first version of this had a guy named Lloyd Grant on lead guitar. First Metallica song ever written.
    Favorite songs off KEA: No Remorse, Seek and Destroy and Whiplash

    My favorite *song* on this album is “Seek and Destroy,” but the best *sounds* on this album have to be “Anesthesia-(Pulling Teeth).” Got me into the bass, and even though I just started learning this year, in my late 20’s, I’ve been a fan of the bass ever since I first heard this when I was 14.

    This FIRST Metallica album was played by Kirk Hammett on LEAD / Melody guitar , it's not Dave Mustaine because 'few time' BEFORE he was "fighting" with James Hetfield and then was kicked out of the band .

      They removed AmI Evil and Blitzkrieg from Kill Em All a long time ago. They re-released them on Garage, Inc.

    This is real Metallica....Mustaine helped write some songs like The Four Horsemen, Wich he he remade as Mechanix. He was kicked out before any albums were made. Kirk came from a band called Exodus who also was pretty big back in the day.

    It's Kirk Hammet you're hearing on the album. Dave Mustaine wrote some of the songs on this album but was already fired by the time they released the studio version of this album. There is a poor VHS quality live show of Dave Mustaine performing live with Metallica in 1983.

    Lloyd Grant was the man who actually wrote/performed and recorded that solo for that song and Metallica loved it so much they kept it for the album.
    It is still the greatest Metallica speed solo to this date.

    Every album has had the trio of James, Lars, and Kirk. Dave Mustaine and Ron McGovney were in the band at one point, but exited prior to Kill 'em All for one reason or another. The only rotating spot there has been since Kill 'em All was released is the bassist. Its been Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted, and currently Rob Trujillo.
