I worked as an electrician in a plant like this (Alcoa). I worked on all that equipment, troubleshooting faults, etc. That plant is a lot cleaner than the one I worked in.
Trabalho de operador nessas máquina.10 anos processo top .trabalho numa de 6 polegada.tudo automatizada.to saindo dela esse mês pra ir embora pra portugal.sera q vou encontrar fábrica de alumínio pra eu trabalhar
Gotta admit, the video you guys put in the beginning which seems like your companies main presentation video is extremely well done and appealing. one of the best I've seen ever.
MEU MARIDO ERA SUECO TRABALHOU COM ALUMINIO NO MUNDO TODO ALCOA E ELUMA ERA FANTASTICO CONHECIA TUDO DE ALUMINIO,NO MUNDO TRABALHOU NO JAPÃO ,MALASIA,KUALA LUMPUR, CANADA, EUA, COLOMBIA, AUSTRALIA ETC.... ABB E UMA FIRMA SUECA TAMBEM ,ERA UM GENIO !!
I worked for RD Werner from 1990/1996. I was a Die chaser. LOL. Thing's have changed. Nice & clean. The guy loading the die was in no hurry, we changed in under 60seconds. Caustic rooms sucked. Good job though. Good experience.
It would be my 3rd night working in an aluminum extrusion plant. I'm completely new to it since I've worked as an overnight stocker previously and do computer work. Definitely different kind of work than I'm used to, but I find it interesting. Still learning though.
It was cool seeing the factory itself being put together towards the end of the video. It looks like a massive capital investment. It must take a lot of extrusions to pay off the cost of all that equipment and those dies.
@Skitad the process at 1:50 is the extrusion. The ram (big rod) pushes the billet thru the die, creating whatever shape the die is. I should know, i run one of these presses for a living!
That's the "stretching" part.... The pieces are hooked to stretchers at each end that pull in opposite directions until the profile is straightened out
I have an engineering question. If I lay (3) 48x4x.25 strips of aluminum 6 inches apart and screw them in deep and well on 1 inch overhangs on each end will that support 500lbs? It's okay (actually preferred) if they bend a little .
Always wondered how this works. So am I right in saying they heat up the aluminium so it's soft but not melting and then push it through the die like play-doh? Is that it?
+Frank Rizzo Yes when the billet is rammed into the chamber it actually fills the shape of the chamber with huge force(which creates more heat) prior to actually going through the die. Ali is pretty malleable and much lower melting point than steel.
+Frank Rizzo ..Pretty much that is the deal...I worked in Alcoa Aluminum extrusion plant in Los Angeles...1970....things haven't changed all that much....'logs' are heated to maybe 700-750F....extrusion pressure causes more heat and they 'flow' out through the die/s....
Hey Doug, I've got a question, I cast aluminum in sand molds in my garage, is extruded aluminum tougher than non extruded, I know its not forged but it is forced through the die, so I didn't know if that kind of has a forging effect to the metal.
stclairstclair...Yes, extruded aluminum does have a sort of 'grain'....but nothing near the strength of a true forging.... I've spent 4 years at one job milling and welding extruded aluminum (6063)...it machines/welds quite a bit differently than any casting...and any bending should be done across the grain...other wise you can get cracking.
wouldn't is also depend on the alloy and if it has been heat treated? because as it gets heat treated it gets harder. and some alloys are tougher/stronger as well?
The mold has two component basicly. Bridge die and cap die that's how it is possible. I suggest you search about it on internet, something visual will help you understand better.
Here is Aldis Bai working in China Zhongwang Aluminum Group. It’s so honor to introduce Zhongwang as the top 2 manufacturer of aluminum extrusion profiles in the world since 1993, we have the most advanced equipment and technical staffs to produce various kinds of aluminum profiles used for many fields, especially auto industry. Detailed products: ● All kinds of Aluminum extrusion profiles according to your requirements or design drawings. ● Special vehicles with aluminum body- trailers, oil tank truck, containers, fire truck ● Standard profiles-Square tube, Round tube, Round bar, Flat bar, Angle, U-profile, T-profile, I-profile Any inquiry or technical question, welcome your email to me at aldis@zhongwang.com I’d like to try my best to help you! Thanks!
Yeah. I did that in '79. Hot in the plant, then when we started swing shift, the first thing we had to do was drag the racks of extrusions out of the tempering ovens. There was usually one wheel on the rack that stuck...
I am looking to designing a railway tank using aluminium extrusion as a material,, how big the size is available. secondly, are they available in angle, as a tank construction would require,,,!
I seen a Mexican guy get caught in the press when I worked in extrusion, it was not a pretty sight, I worked on the saw and it took to long to shut the emergency button off.
What about no metal to metal contact??? Customers don't like there parts all scratched and dinged up, and no company wants to run so much scrap just because its "faster"
Thanks for posting, especially enjoyed the plant construction slide show at the end!

Never seen like this plant , working in aluminum extrusion for 5 years in Gulf region. This is the best i've seen

a dirty shop/factory doesnt work hard enough or have enough business
what does quality mean for Aluminum ? How can we select the quality product from the other ?

What a huge factory! Awesome Aluminium Processing :D
th-cam.com/video/WbALJ47KG6k/w-d-xo.html This one is huge too :-)
Automated equipment everywhere and not a single person wearing safety glasses. Niiiiice.
I worked for RD Werner from 1990/1996. I was a Die chaser. LOL. Thing's have changed. Nice & clean. The guy loading the die was in no hurry, we changed in under 60seconds. Caustic rooms sucked. Good job though. Good experience.
This would be an amazing thing to watch if the process were actually explained.
Agreed, watching the extrusion process by itself would have been nice.
instead of fucked up sounds
I work at an aluminum extrusion plant.
A better explanation comes with Ilsco's aluminum extrusion 101 video.

Simply perfect !
We are die casting factory in China!

Even for 2010 that music was a vintage early 90s batch of tracks.
That’s perfect good job👍
Man i wish my press was as high tech as this! We have alot more manual work to do. This machine does everything on its own!
It was cool seeing the factory itself being put together towards the end of the video. It looks like a massive capital investment. It must take a lot of extrusions to pay off the cost of all that equipment and those dies.
William Cassidy NO worries, Cash flow all day erryday
Thanks for showing extrusion process. It is a good videos.
I would like to introduce this one th-cam.com/video/WbALJ47KG6k/w-d-xo.html

wonderful production line! great!
th-cam.com/video/WbALJ47KG6k/w-d-xo.html This one is wonderful too~
Why is a front Loading System better than an back Loader? Can you explain please?
it is too nice video ,Fully automatic, fantastic industry and plant
朱红 even W WSW even though it is not sweet
How is the extrusion straightened? It looked very wavy at the ends, but someone appeared perfectly straight in later shots.
That's the "stretching" part.... The pieces are hooked to stretchers at each end that pull in opposite directions until the profile is straightened out

Where are you guys located? And who do you buy your tool steel from?
nice press. what size is it.
I have worked on a P15, P38 press here in South Africa. We are still using induction billet heaters. Old Technology!
Looks to be 9" press
I don’t miss the burns AT ALL!

This is the front loading system. All new modern presses are working with this system of illet loading today.
Aluminum chahye hmko bhut
man that place is CLEAN, good vid
I could say about how much it costs the crane cut profile please?
I never imagined it would be a cold extrusion.
Is that possible with delicate profiles?
VERY GOOD ROLLER WATCHED IN ONE BREATH.
Alumex Limited is doing same process in Sri Lanka. nice to watch.
100 % Perfect equipment and layout for profile .
imagine back in the 40's, every automated parts would've been a German guys ,
0:01 to 0:30 just makes me want to listen to the Bigger Pockets PodCast
How do you extrude something with a hole in it
the die profile is in the center of the die and the billet is pushed around it like a play dough machine
Well done ,good job.
I don't understand how there can be a hole in the middle of the extrusion. I'm missing something.
The mold has two component basicly. Bridge die and cap die that's how it is possible. I suggest you search about it on internet, something visual will help you understand better.
This is the first time I've seen what the aluminium extrusion plant is like. That reminds me of Galuminium's aluminium extrusion.

I love cutting on the fly. I wish my press would do the same
I wish they had that ,When I worked in extrusion, we had to do everything using the back, and the heat in the summer was a killer.
I work at an extrusion plant in Fl lol, it’s hot as satans nut sack
Yeah. I did that in '79. Hot in the plant, then when we started swing shift, the first thing we had to do was drag the racks of extrusions out of the tempering ovens. There was usually one wheel on the rack that stuck...
Those jobs are fun I work for Universal alloy I was a press operator but know iam a billet shaver.

How does the 'stretching' affect the QC and dimensions?
TucsonEV stretch to straighten the metal. Material is not stretched enough to change dimension unless needed.
we are Chinese aluminium profiles manufacturer, welcome inquiry :008618776151492
Where is it
Anyone can tell me where i found this machine
That is extrude process. Press billet through die(mold). Then according to the die(mold) extrusion profile produce. :)
