    ISO 1000?! I hope this camera controls noise well, i hate going over 320 on my Olympus.

    • @MiscellaneousMcC
      @MiscellaneousMcC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ISO 1000 is where the grain starts on the A7III. I usually keep it at 800 unless it’s overly bright.

    Great video! Thanks for taking the time to explain your thought process. Great tip about the torch. Sorry flashlight:) For the fine art shot, you mentioned that the depth of field was about 5cm, enough to fit the whole mushroom in but you still took about 30 shots and focus stacked them. Just wondering why?

    • @MiscellaneousMcC
      @MiscellaneousMcC  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!
      I didn’t say what I meant clearly. The total depth of field from closest possible focus to furthest was 5cm, so I had to stack the shots together to get that full range.

    I love the images, What’s the tripod your using?

    • @MiscellaneousMcC
      @MiscellaneousMcC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you 🙏
      The tripod is a fotopro c5i. It is a fairly inexpensive tripods that I enjoy using because the centre can be unscrewed to get it flat on the ground. 😊

    Looking forward to next mushroom season, just to the east of you in Haliburton. Next time I go out for mushroom photos I'm going to take one of those little rubber ball air puffers and small paintbrush to tidy them up. Great spread of puffballs!
    What was that huge telephoto you were using?

    • @MiscellaneousMcC
      @MiscellaneousMcC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love Halliburton, the forests are amazing to hike through!
      It was an old canon 600mm f4.5 FD mount lens. It’s a manual lens I picked up on eBay on the cheap from Japan. It’s not really well suited for mushroom photography, but it’s fun to try nonetheless haha!

    Very nice video. I'm also a mushroom lover. What tripod and extension tubes are you using? I'm trying to upgrade to a tripod that can go flatter. Thanks.

    • @MiscellaneousMcC
      @MiscellaneousMcC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
      I am using a fotopro C5i tripod that I was given. It is handy because the center column can be unscrewed and the legs opened up flat.
      The extension tones are just generic EF mount ones off Amazon, the cheapest ones I could find haha. I will upgrade them in the future when they wear out. They screw together which I don’t really like. I’d prefer tunes that lock in place.
      Cheers!

    Do find any issues shooting such a high iso?

    • @MiscellaneousMcC
      @MiscellaneousMcC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really. The A7iii is pretty good at handling ISO up to around 5000. After that everything is fairly unusable.
      If I am forced to shoot above 5000 I would shoot multiple image groups, and after focus stacking all of the groups, creat a smart object with the finished shots and set the stack mode to median. That would get rid of a lot of the noise, but it’s a pain and a ton of work. I’d rather just shoot on a tripod with a longer shutter speed. 😁

    • @mikebales6558
      @mikebales6558 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MiscellaneousMcC So are you more worried about motion blur of the plants from a slow shutter speed versus a faster shutter speed?

    • @MiscellaneousMcC
      @MiscellaneousMcC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikebales6558
      If a have a tripped then I’m not worried about movement, but if I am handholding the camera then I try and keep the shutter higher. It’s really hard to hand hold the camera when focus stacking though. So I try and use a tripod whenever possible.
