Brother when I was a kid we didn't even have phones. We had one in the house connected to the wall, but just walking around, we had nothing. You wanted to find somebody, well you just couldn't, till they showed up somewhere. And if you wanted to know some random fact, you go down to the library, and you may or may not find the answer in there. The overload of all this information and entertainment at your fingertips is overwhelming to my generation. You young ones have no idea what it was like, back when you didn't have Facebook with your 1000 "friends" but you had maybe 12 friends. But they were actual friends, not "friends." Those were the days.
I'm not gonna lie, that was kind of adorable, no? I remember when our school libraries got the first internet connected computer - netscape, altavista, ah, the days indeed😂 But yeah, calling on the landlines was always scary, not knowing exactly who would pick up on the other end, it was traumatising even😂
I take a “Yes, and” view of the internet. It’s so new. Like NEW new lol. We are still pretty damn bad at internetting. If humans manage to NOT yeet ourselves out of existence in the meantime, I hope, and more than that I believe, we will get better at it. It’s been an overwhelming net good tho, even considering our screwups to this point
