    My opinion might not be so popular, but for me, C4 996 is the third best looking porsche after 356 speedster and narrow body early 70´s carrera

    The plastic side sills are £120 each from your local Porsche centre and take 20 mins to fit. All parts for the 996 are readily available.

    This vid popped up in my feed, well done. I have a Lapis Blue C4S nearly identical that and I love it. I've had it 7 years, put 20k miles on with only maintenance and up keep. It has 100K miles on it now and still rips hard. I have a lot of cars and none give me the mechanical and visceral feeling as this but it still has modern comfort. I don't plan on getting rid of any time soon, I love the fact I can drive the shit out of on twisty mountain roads without worrying about doing instantaneous astronomical speeds the new cars bring.

  • @computerhelpcc

    It’s still a 911. Fabulous drive but it is expensive to maintain. Bought my bare bones 1999 cable throttle cab in 2016 at bottom of mkt from 2nd owner w great PPI, yet it has been expensive per mechanic n parts. No depreciation though. Wife n kids love it. I also daily a Lexus GS F (v8 super sedan), and the 996 manual 911 is still a treat. Some days, spare me sport stuff, time for 1996 Jaguar XJ6 (final year of 4.0 inline 6).

      @@cs1375 95-97 Jag XJ6 sedan final years, proved very reliable. I’ve spent far more on 911 maintenance than the Jag XJ6.

      If you can turn a wrench, you can avoid the Porsche tax from local P-shops. Porsches just demand more patience.

    I am looking to buy a C4S. I got a professional inspection report delivered today and it just said the coolant was low. The mechanic did not do any further checks to see why coolant was low but could this be a concern?

      Shift right solution takes care of that, and the clutch is perfect for hammering on it. Not too light like modern cars with no feel, but not heavy at all unless it's at the end of it's life.

    Not worth my money. Rather spend a few thousand more and buy a 997. 996 is simply ugly. Doesn't help if it is shined and polished. It's like putting lipstick on a pig... It's still a pig.

      @castroorstad8215 - you sound like a typical hater who has never driven a 996! 997 looks basic

      @@C4S911 You're absolutely right. I've never driven a 996. I'm also a typical hater. For almost 50 years, the Porsche 911 has been one of my favorite cars. Primarily because of appearance. But when the 996 came out, I completely lost my desire for Porsche. It was so ugly that I became a hater. Fortunately, Porsche also saw this, and made the 997. So I bought one like that.

    • @C4S911
      @C4S911 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@castroorstad8215 I had the chance to buy a 997 but choose the 996 instead because the 997 rear is hideous and the interior didn’t age well with all those knobs and buttons on the center console. The 997 screams no character to it. Also why buy a heavy 997 when the 996 is one of the lightest 911s made.

    • @C4S911
      @C4S911 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@castroorstad8215 the 996 to me is a better 911 driving experience wise. Sure the 966 headlights are different but the rear on the 997 is just awful looking. Also the 997 interior has way too many buttons on the interior… looks really out dated and cheap. IMO 996 is more of a traditional 911 driving experience.

    • @matthewbrown1860
      @matthewbrown1860 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      996 is a better drive for a driver's car, and the interior I think has aged way better than the funky plastic 997, and all this for about 20k less.
