October is a tense month in American in politics. The closer a political campaign gets to election day, the more vulnerable it is to an “October Surprise” -- a late-breaking scandal or controversy that influences voters in the final days of an election.
“October Surprises” are typically thought of as unexpected events that surprise both sides of an election -- natural disasters, terrorist attacks, etc.. But more recently, it's come to describe an intentional campaign strategy, wherein political operatives exploit late-breaking news stories to try to damage their opponents at the last-minute.
Trump’s fixation on the migrant caravan traveling to the United States is a clear example of that strategy -- an attempt to shift the media’s attention away from issues like health care by fear mongering about immigrants.
It’s a cheap political ploy, and many news networks have recognized it as such. The problem is: there’s no great way to fight it.

This one is actually a little different. It's not like ebola or the caravan, those had very little impact on the US. The coronavirus has infected tens-hundreds of thousands (or even millions depending on when this is being read), and killed thousands, it has caused a lockdown in several states and is causing a likely recession, also this started in February and not October which is where the problems are overly hyped.

Actually 100 ISIS fighters were found in Guatemala in early October, like in military operations when you want to get into an area where you'll be denied if you fly directly there. This is a pretty great video, Vox. I didn't actually know of this concept before this and it makes a lot of sense, though the fact that ebola just stopped being cared about without being solved is just incredibly awful.
Anyone still undecided going into this, Rpublicans want to gut poor people's medicaid benefits and corporate Dems will likely follow along with them. If you are lucky enough to live in a place where a populist left candidate is running, give them a try.
Oh and before you use Socialism as a counter argument to that, lefties like me only want government control over a small number of industries not the entire economy. An example of this is healthcare where national health/single payer services work much better then the US's system and can be found in every developed nation; though in a number of different forms.

It was fixed, by the same people that are fixing it every time, primary healthcare at the place of the outbreak.
The politicians fixed nothing, they just used it for political gain. Arguably they only made matters worse by creating fake problems with fake solutions, potentially distracting from real solutions. This is bad because one day there will be a real epidemic where both politicians and media need to pay attention and help, not hinder, primary healthcare doing their job.
Likewise Trump going on about "caravans" could be good for his ratings, but deluding people for political gains is not problem solving.
Healthcare should be privatised it would lead to cheaper health care. Know this government is a bad businessman. When you privatise the healthcare industry it creates competition which leads to better services

Listen, The oldest among this generation is 38 yearsold. The youngest 19. If anyone is in these streets fighting it's us. These older folks are afraid because we haven't proved ourselves and they don't want to mentor us to inheret the truth. This is their system. Critical thinking along with a transparent control mechanism must be put into place.
One of the organizers of the caravan was detained in Guatemala and he said that their purpose was to call out Honduras government for the poverty and high price of basic needs like water or food. Besides the new Mexican President AMLO that gets in office on December has said that he wants to give them a legal channel through which they could work and stay in Mexico. After midterms this frenzy over this will die out.
