The main things that I do to look expensive don't cost much at all! Its all about having a polished appearance. No chipped polish, clean shoes, makeup done, hair done, confidence, a nice pair of sunnies, and I wear all black 😊

My mom always said instead of investing in expensive shoes and clothes put that money towards a tiny pair of elegant 18 karat gold earrings or even diamonds ;) a nice chain and that looks pulled together even when just wearing jeans and a tee.

My main tip would be: simplicity!! As someone who grew up being lucky enough to afford nice things (not trying to be snobby, it's just the truth), it was always noticeable when someone was trying to look "expensive". If labels are out of reach financially at the moment, which is nothing to be ashamed of btw, I would say stay completely away or you could run the risk of looking tacky. Simplicity is elegance. Choose a plain, real leather bag in a neutral colour instead of a really embellished bag in a fake material. A simple watch with a leather band looks way classier than a chunky metallic watch with fake crystals all over (looking at you Michael kors watches). In my opinion a good basic knit in a good material looks way classier and expensive than having Gucci or Louis Vuitton plastered on your person :)

Allison Bender ppl often assume the more expensive an item is the more good it looks on them. I know women who spend thousands on " labels" and they carry off their clothes like it's so ordinary and basic . Whereas there are women who wear what suits them make the right clothing choices,personal grooming on point and they look fab. It's how one wears their clothes rather than the other way around. I think lots of women fail to see that labels don't define your style but they mentally feel that it does because hey I paid that money so I better look good.

I'm going into a bit of a rant but I feel like class is dying. Everyone wants to look like Kim as they feel she embodies sophistication. It just really errks me because I feel as though sophistication is in decline.

Also don't forget, always make sure your nails are clean and clipped. I don't like wearing colored nail polishes, but I always make sure that I wear a nice transparent or clear coat nail polish. It just makes you have that extra polished look. And also, it's less noticeable if the clear coat of nail polish chips.

While I understand the message here, I think the delivery is a bit misleading. I'd alter "expensive" to "refined" or "sophisticated". First, forget the superficial looks and focus on the core value: confidence. Sure, you can wear all white but if you're not confident in doing so, it'll be very noticeable. However, *a positive mindset, good posture and a confident smile will get you so far.* The looks and clothes absolutely come second.

Patricia has plenty of uplifting videos on the things you point out, especially the positive mindset - I would even say she embodies this.
My take is that in this context she's using the word "expensive" to describe a specific aesthetic, i.e. the look and feel of "having money" which doesnt necassarily have to equate to being refined or sophisticated.
It's really an aesthetics thing so to each his own. :)

Delicate jewellery also makes you look expensive......e.g. delicate necklace with small pendant, small sparkly stud earrings, delicate rings, etc.

two words : THRIFT STORE
In the UK we have charity shops... which are predominantly full of old lady clothes (not even the granny-chic kind). They're great for fancy dress and although you may find the occasional surprising item, but not often! We do have vintage shops which are amazing, but the cost of the clothes is closer to high street prices, so unless you're going for a particular style, you aren't really helping yourself look expensive on a budget.

I come from a somewhat affluent household where my mother always states that those with alot of money do not need to show it off by wearing all these monogramed and logo items (LV bags, gucci bags with all the Gs, coach bags with all the Cs). To my mother, trying to show off your wealth is tacky and tasteless. If you want to look expensive, simple, clean, clothes are the way to go. No need to invest in thousands of bangles and bracelets an wear them all at once. One bracelet is good enough. No need to pair monogramed LV bag, with a monogram LV belt and monogram LV shoes. Just one is enough. Those pieces are already loud.
When my mother and i go out and spot people trying so hard to show off their "new found" wealth, we just laugh because its funny. My mother would say "its nice to look expensive and buy into these expensive brands. But always remeber their are cheaper brands out there that will do the same, and the remaining $$ can go into a high interests saving account ;)

Haha, thank you guys for the comments. Hope nothing was offensive. I just think too much of one thing makes you look tacky. We are from west Africa, and sometimes when we go out to eat, you see men with their Versace belt and sunglasses, and branded, logo t shirt. And then some women will wear SO many bracelets, and pile loads of make up (IN THIS HEAT!!!). I just chuckle, but I really want to tell them to take some off. They are beautiful already. There's no need to look like a clown. You will only attract clowns. Anyway, thank you for allowing me to rant a bit. Just had to get this off my chest.

1 - Always have a well done manicure. Doesn't mean have a French manicure, just clean well-tailored nails.
2 - Well hydrated skin. No ashy or dry patches (even if you have psoriasis or eczema). Keep Gold Bond, Vaseline, Chapstick, etc. at the ready.

I think some people are taking this way too serious. Making sure your hair is in place is almost non existent anymore. You can get many of the clothing items very inexpensively at outlets, TJ Maxx, Marshalls or even Target if you watch for them. Her message of "investing" in some good pieces that will look put together, are worth something and will stand the test of time is great. In a world where everything is now ultra casual, I always admire people who take a little time to intentionally put it all together whether expensive or not. Fun video.
As you get older you create your own style; choose from what you naturally gravitate to. I'm transitioning my wardrobe to all blacks, whites and grays. Adding pop of color with shoes, bags, scarfs etc.

And if you do love and can afford brand names PLEASE be careful about LOGOS!! Keep the logo simple and elegant if you must have it. I used to model for IMG and was fortunately to be around the wealthy ( not rich) and the wealthy not only mixed high end with low end they also rarely felt the need to be a walking billboard. I have NOTHING against logos but please keep in mind how you wear them and how many you own. If every single handbag you own reads MK, LV or GG all over it can look a bit tacky. If you have on the GG belt, bag, sunglasses and sandals all at the sametime... you really do look like you're working overtime to be "fancy." As Patricia stated, go monochromatic in your wardrobe first then if you have that LV bag and sunglasses... throw it on!! It's a good balance. A great tip to remember when wanting to look expensive is " Wealth is quiet. Rich is loud!" 🙌🏾It's the difference between Oprah and Nicki Minaj. My friends and I loved going into thrift shops and browsing in the village where you don't even have to coordinate or match, if the clothes have a unique look and it goes well with your ensemble then that is a "I have taste and know how to dress" look.and what surprises people is how inexpensive your look really is.

That should only be reserved for the tag unless it's like a Nike sneakers. The way she wore the belt was as tasteful as it could get. It worked with her outfit.

Ironing is a great tip, it really makes a big difference. I must buy one, since I also love shirts. Another thing - a nice, clean, white shirt - nicely, simply cut. Looks so classy on both man and women.

Look expensive = look like you love & take care of yourself, In my opinion, you could be wearing all the "right" things and still the one thing that elevates you is your self respect - get enough sleep if you can, stay hydrated, don't eat junk treat yourself like a million bucks and you'll feel and look that way too.

I know this type of videos are done more out of fun than a literal way. The general way to look expensive is confidence. Okay be clean and keep it simple. And invest more in quality things not just name brands. People are way too obsessed with looking expensive and get lost in the process. You can wear all the designer brands and still look broke/cheap.

great video! when I was younger I used to go shopping just about every week. now I can't be bothered anymore so I only have about one or two pairs of shoes/handbags/jackets on the go at any one time, but because of that i buy much more expensive pieces now. I got into the habit due to not wanting to shop as often but an unexpected upshot is that I do look much classier now lol

Manicure and pedicure! Get the combo cheap for like $35 dollars. A nude nail polish hides chips so polish lasts longer. Shop at nice thrift stores. They have designer items. Outlet malls are great too.

best thing i've found to invest in is shoes, your on your feet most of the time and having a few good quality pairs makes a difference, easy to keep clean and tidy if you research how . Not only will they looo good but they will serve for comfort aswel.

I think it is chiefly because the word "subscribe" usually has connotations of paying regular instalments - such as if you subscribe to a magazine or subscribe to a channel or service, for example. They all usually have a small charge (or a big one), so people new to TH-cam may initially think "subscribing" incurs a charge. Plus "it's free!" also makes more people want to do it!! haha :-)
