That term works really well for MDickie games in general. It doesn't help that he kept recycling Wrestling MPire's engine for every single other game he made. The prison simulator, the pop-star simulator, the island survival game, the game where you _play as one of Jesus's Apostles..._ _...the game where you play as one of MUHAMMAD'S followers..._

As a fan of wrestling and wrestling games. I have to say that empire is actually not a bad wrestling game. It takes a lot of getting used to, and if you want it to be sillyness than it will be sillyness, but underneat that is a solid, fluid, wrestling game
That’s the strangest thing about MDickie. He’s utterly incompetent, never seems to improve, and doesn’t seem to understand how to make a game that doesn’t inherently feel as stiff as a… well, they’re stiff. But they all actually work. They’re real games. For as nonsensical as Hard Time is, it has real mechanics and can be legitimately played, successfully, without dying or having undue damage to your character. His World War game operates as an interesting combination of Risk and a very stiff Mount & Blade. But it works. And Mpire can probably be played legitimately as a wrestling finance management game. I wouldn’t know; I hold M for every deal they offer me. Because at the end of the day, his games are actually fun, even though they don’t seem like they should be. Someone needs to pick up Hard Time Source and finish it.

A few days ago I suddenly realized Jerma hadn't streamed in a long time... then found out that RIGHT AFTER I unsubscribed from the main archive channel to subscribe to the "with chat" channel instead, the chat channel just stopped posting (apparently he takes a break every few months). So I check the main stream archive and lo and behold, Jerma played Wrestling MPire without me knowing. So then I wanted to wait til I was in the mood for a long watch, so I waited a few days. Finally I watch it - and stop watching it once he gets kicked out of Wrestling School and makes an uninteresting new character - and then later find out Joel uploaded this the same night. tl;dr: same (On the subject of the game itself I just don't see why they had to change the faces, literally the only thing that made me decide not to play it - before I found out it's seemingly not free, I mean.)

@@magusperde365 Its similar to no mercy. You taunt, perform moves and try not to get your ass too kicked until you get your special and break your opponent's neck - you pin then you win. Submission is more complicated as it considers stamina and endurance it seems - characters with lower endurance will tap out easier. There's a bit of a hidden spirit meter too. Its quite fun! But if you never played an AKI its no wonder why you dont win. Tone down the difficulty and consider this is a way more chaotic game. Oh, and please have a good moveset. Dont mix a headbutt amd a spinning kick if it fucks up with your hitboxes.
@@magusperde365 Here are some cheesy strats that helped me: 1. Set flying kicks as a running attack and spinning kicks as a strong attack, then abuse the heck out of them. They can't be countered in the MPire version, and once you start them, you have an invulnerability window until the attack ends. 2. When picking attacks, choose the ones with the best reach. Being able to hit your opponent when they can't hit you is OP. 3. When someone is down go to their sides and, stomp, stomp, stomp. Don't try grappling, because this can be reversed. If they get on one knee, hit them with a flying/spinning kick. 4. As mentioned, the best chances for a pin are after a Special grapple (a finisher, if you will). However, when your opponent's health is all the way down, any strong grappling move will do. Just make sure that the ref is nearby
Weird I read on a steam forum someone said it was a bit easier to mod since he did it in a certain way in Unity. Maybe I misread that post then but they did so far find a way to change the music for entrances.
@@magusperde365 You need to go for ring outs, pins or submissions. Ring outs are cheesy and easy. There are no rules outside the ring, but if you get 10 count, you're out. Best way I do it is to throw someone out of the ring, then follow them and beat the shit out of them with a weapon until they struggle to move. Then hit them whenever they try to stand, climbing back to the ring before you get counted out. You can't hold someone in a lock to time them out, as it pauses their timer. Pins only really work if you wear them out. Get them on the floor and pin them, if the ref counts to 3 and isnt paid off, you win. Submissions are shit like armbars and headlocks and shit, they can work anytime but it's luck based. The best odds of one working is to drain someone's health. If you get them to scream, they tap out and you win. If you get them outside the ring, you can actually seriously injure them to the point of even killing them, as you can't tap out outside the ring. When your Adrenaline meter is full, you're super buffed for a good while. All your moves do way more, and submissions are extremely brutal. I like to see how badly I can hurt people outside the ring. One time I used my adrenaline meter on a headlock and the guy got so fucked up the scream effect overlapped like 50 times and it was the loudest funniest thing I've ever seen or heard. He couldn't stand and was hospitalized for a month.
I was confused as to why this was labelled part 4 as I didn't remember him playing the game before, then I realized that this is "part 4" to the Wrestling MPire series, which is pretty different from Wrestling Empire. MPire is a game from 2008 / 2012 (remix edition) while Empire is closer to being a sequel to an MDickie game that came out in between known as Wrestling Revolution 3D. Working on MPire myself for modding purposes, there's massive differences between the 2008 game and this 2021 game. Just in case people were wondering. But it's still the classic MDickie jank and more or less the same old reused garbo. It's coming home!
@generic goose Well, there are a few gameplay changes. Most attacks can be reversed now, there is no limb loss, all attacks are triggered by pressing and releasing a button, rather than just pressing, a delay between the press and the release strengthens the attack, and contract clauses have been simplified. Other than that, and a few other changes, it's pretty similar
@generic goose the limb loss was what made it funny. You could win titles without legs and punch without fists. The new version feels pretty bland in comparison.

Wrestling Empire is more polished and overall better but it's not as silly and not as fun as a "meme game" while Wrestling Mpire (as well as games like Hard Time, Wrestling Encore, The You Testament, etc.) is much worse and much sillier but also a lot of fun because of it's meme value.

I know Joel does the full stat shtick for the sake of humor, but it’s a pretty tired gag that tends to make games burn out quickly. Also, he really should’ve worked on editing his moves, as when I played it having a proper move set prepared to match my fighting style was a make or break for my character. Also, he really should’ve played with a controller, I really don’t think the keyboard controls are fit for this game.

The thing about Joel’s streams is that you have to sit or sift through a lot of sh** until that moment that comes every so often when Joel will lay a beautiful *golden* *egg* which makes for some hilariously genius moments. But it’s not always consistent, so sometimes we get some very entertaining streams or segments, but often time a large portion of a stream can become slightly annoying. Joel is very, very funny and has a high caliber of entertainment, so it goes to good faith to challenge or criticize him for certain things. MPire is a game from 2008 / 2012 (remix edition) while Empire is closer to being a sequel to an MDickie game that came out in between known as Wrestling Revolution 3D.
Working on MPire myself for modding purposes, there's massive differences between the 2008 game and this 2021 game. Just in case people were wondering. But it's still the classic MDickie jank and more or less the same old reused garbo. It's coming home!

@generic goose Well, there are a few gameplay changes. Most attacks can be reversed now, there is no limb loss, all attacks are triggered by pressing and releasing a button, rather than just pressing, a delay between the press and the release strengthens the attack, and contract clauses have been simplified. Other than that, and a few other changes, it's pretty similar
@generic goose the limb loss was what made it funny. You could win titles without legs and punch without fists. The new version feels pretty bland in comparison.
@generic goose The new one is better for wrestling fans, but much worse for those who wanna fuck around and joke in MDickie-land. It can still be pretty silly but honestly I found myself pretty frustrated at Joel for just constantly bringing up the old game and comparing it to the new one because they aren't really comparable in that sense.
Wrestling Empire is more polished and overall better but it's not as silly and not as fun as a "meme game" while Wrestling Mpire (as well as games like Hard Time, Wrestling Encore, The You Testament, etc.) is much worse and much sillier but also a lot of fun because of it's meme value.

Mdickie games have great atmosphere

Out of nowhere I decided to rewatch the previous three episodes yesterday. My favorite kind of coincidence!
Joel was very harsh on this game, dude, and when he was told that Jerma non-hironic enjoyed the game, he just assumed that he has no standards with those games.
He's not wrong doe, the game is bad objectively but it's the fun type. Like the room of wrestling games.
No mercy, firepro, early 2000's wwe games and AKI wrestling games are better.
He wasn't harsh just let down that MDickie removed a lot of the random and chaotic older stuff.
Sure it runs better but it's a much emptier game
@@StormDatIsApproaching this, Mdickie games are considered good/fun to play not because of the combat but the random and chaotic variables innit, so when he did removed those variables it's bad in comparison.
@@doburu4835 It honestly feels better than many wrestling games, where they decide to make the gameplay as clunky and heavy as possible, plus, come on, to say that even the NES games were better is too much.

I know Joel does the full stat shtick for the sake of humor, but it’s a pretty tired gag that tends to make games burn out quickly. Also, he really should’ve worked on editing his moves, as when I played it having a proper move set prepared to match my fighting style was a make or break for my character. Also, he really should’ve played with a controller, I really don’t think the keyboard controls are fit for this game.

I’m a big fan of Joel, but I’m always reluctant to criticize him or other casual streamers or TH-camrs because there’s always someone who’s overly complacent or obsessive that gets defensive over rational complaints. Just think about it; Joel was complaining about the game, and all we said was that Joel would have probably had a better time if he put a little more effort into the gameplay and if he didn’t overdo his stats. And, still, someone gets snappy just for saying that
@@doburu4835 I guess my response to that would be to respect Joel enough to not coddle him when and treat him like a child when it’s not necessary, and to respect yourself enough to want a decent show and to not want your time deliberately wasted. Joel usually does a good job that, but sometimes… lol.
The thing about Joel’s streams is that you have to sit or sift through a lot of sh** until that moment that comes every so often when Joel will lay a beautiful *golden* *egg* which makes for some hilariously genius moments. But it’s not always consistent, so sometimes we get some very entertaining streams or segments, but often time a large portion of a stream can become slightly annoying. Joel is very, very funny and has a high caliber of entertainment, so it goes to good faith to challenge or criticize him for certain things. Especially in this case, when he’s stubbornly formed a negative opinion on something he would likely typically enjoy
