One of my favorite sitcoms. I never knew John Lithgow was so damn funny. Everyone on this show was brilliant. The writing was excellent because they didn't simply rely on insults and name calling for laughs like most sitcoms do. This was the last TV show I watched regularly. Thank goodness I can watch it on the Internet.
Honorable mention. Something that never gets old. Early in the series, when they go to the DMV: Sally "You know, cars must have a huge power we haven't discovered yet. Look at this: the line, the waiting, the testing..." Harry "Can you imagine what you must have to go through to get a gun?"
A while back, Some old person killed I think 13 people, because he got lost. also in my old college, a director son tried to murder people by driving into crowds. I realize I can kill more people with a car , than a gun. I kept my mouth shut for over a decade on this, until terrorists in England figured it out. for random murders, cars are more destructive.
Criminals don’t follow laws. That’s what makes them criminals. So this would only limit law abiding citizens to own one. There are over 8 billion guns in the USA. It’s too late to regulate.
Me too! I was a kid when this show was broadcast and I remember that I really liked it but I've also forgotten so much and I imagine that a lot of the jokes went over my head at the time. I'll need to watch it again 😅
Simply because construction workers keep cat-calling almost any woman that passes by, but Sally thought that it was something special and that their cat-calling her meant that she was extraordinary.
I'm so glad John had a chance to do this show and show off his comedic acting chops. His theater (over)acting really shines through and I'm sure he bought out the best in the rest of the cast as well. He was really heading for B-grade obscurity before 3rd Rock (yes I'm old enough to remember) and was seen as a boring, well, bore. This show sure changed that! It's also timeless humour as well and stands up today. Just some of the fashions and Dick Solomon's ancient computer date it quite a bit. Good times.
I simply adore this show and me and my family would watch this and my dad would be cracking up so much and my mom would have tears in her eyes and my and my brother would be out of breath
"Somehow that fiery tube has mitigated your oafishness." Impossibly good writing. Unpredictable, delightful. Not saying that the monkeys banging on typewriters won't figure this out before Shakespeare, but...dang.
Cant believe apologizing wasn’t on here. Dick making Mary let him apologize to her over and over and quivering with pleasure is top 10 moments of the whole show IMO
I miss this show! My partner and I loved it, tho I know I can probably watch small clips of it here on YT, but not a whole ep, with out it being altered for Copyrights ☹
03:00 - Pity (probably due to licencing issues) that Gordon's character couldn't turn it up to 90/95% and the classic THX sound then starts playing! Hahahahahaha

It's one of the best
No insults? No name calling? Must be pre-2000.
@@waynemarvin5661 Exactly.
I watched 3rd rock before Cliffhanger, man can John be scary.
I saw him on stage while he was still a student at Harvard. You could tell instantly that he was a great comic talent!

My personal favourite comes even earlier, when Harry discovers the use of his eyes: "Oh, they're manual!!" Cracks me up just thinking about it! 😂😂

Three packs! Ribbed for her pleasure but I turned them inside out. Best line ever!!
I love this show. It's a sociological study in humans from the perspective of an outworlder.
Thank you so much for explaining the show to us.
One of the best sitcoms of all time. Brilliant writing, acting.
John Lithgow is a legend... he is 1 of my favorite actors... this show is so funny...
John Lithgow is such an amazing actor.
One of the funniest sitcoms ever. I might just root out my DVD collection and start again
Me too! I was a kid when this show was broadcast and I remember that I really liked it but I've also forgotten so much and I imagine that a lot of the jokes went over my head at the time. I'll need to watch it again 😅
This show was genius. Forgot how much I missed it!
“Somehow that fiery tube has mitigated your oafishness”-Dick Solomon
One of the best underrated shows ever made
So so funny ❤
You don't know what that word underrated means , do you
Seems like all the best sitcoms back in the 90s were hidden gems. 3rd rock from the Sun, and Becker.
John Lithgow is simply the king. Thanks, COZI TV! :)
3rd rock from the sun is one best sitcoms that everyone forgot about.
it needs a reboot.
I watch it through every couple of years along with frasier and the office. Greatest 3 comedies to come out of america.
@@emusaurus i loved the Strudwick/Dick Rivalry... comedy gold.
@@emusaurus It's kind off a riff on Mork & Mind. & I'm old enough to sort of kind of remember My Favorite Martian.
Not me brother. Have the box set😊
The show was BRILLIANT.
That "Even construction workers" line sally does always makes me chuckle, I don't know why
Simply because construction workers keep cat-calling almost any woman that passes by, but Sally thought that it was something special and that their cat-calling her meant that she was extraordinary.
@@edinfific2576 I know the reference, I just dont know why it makes me chuckle...
Love this show to this day
This made my childhood! Love these !

3rd rock was My only exposure to Lithgow. Then the fourth season of Dexter dropped and I was blown away.
@@oz_jones Haven't seen it but he's played a very convincing and frightening antagonist in a few movies. The man has some serious range.
One of my all time favorite TV shows.
I miss this show so much😊
one of the best sitcoms ever.
This show was GOLD!
my favourite is when Dick discovers tipping
had me rolling 🙃🙂🙃
Never was over-acting so damn funny as in this series!

Man, I loved this show. Joseph was my crush back then, and still is now 😉
He is adorable.
I simply adore this show and me and my family would watch this and my dad would be cracking up so much and my mom would have tears in her eyes and my and my brother would be out of breath
This is 1 of those underrated show u forget how good it was
Why would you say that it's underrated?
I would like to watch this show again.
Lithgow was brilliant in this very good series
My dog had the same reaction when he first discovered a tissue box.
😂👍
So did mine he continues to this day whenever he sees a tissue
😂😂😂😂
This show is so underrated
I see praise wherever it is mentioned so for me, underrated is an overrated description😊
It is a bit of cult show, has its superfans
"Somehow that fiery tube has mitigated your oafishness."

Great show that got better with every season!!!
This show and the golden girls were the tops of comedy. No no, they ARE the tops of comedy.
Golden Girls was not even remotely as good this.
@@donziperk I'd say they're equally funny in their own unique ways
@@iamsheel golden girls was not that well written and it was basically carried by Betty White.

Thank you, Eversol, Inc. for the hug!
#4 had one of my fav lines. "How do I look don?" "well sally you look like a big luger"
Tommy, my first television crush as a kid. So cute still!
Es un actor excelente y carismático que se mete dentro del personaje. 😊🇨🇷
Best show ever 😅😅😅😅
He discovered cleenex just like a cat would 🤣
Just proves cats are aliens. 😋

MY GOD i miss this show!!
Lithgow is a comic genius
This show should be shown to all
Brilliant writing 😂❤
How could they forget the discovery of jello?
I was thinking the same thing!!! 😂
Craziest sitcom ever made
Number 3 is beyond platinum. How did they get through that sketch without breaking?
So great
The Solomon's doing taxes! 😂😂😂😂
That was the best!🤣👍
“We lost the farm!? NOOOOOOO!!!”
"Ahh, I lost my virginity."
Aahghhh smoking gotta love the 90’s
Room Service is Heaven until the bill arrives.
Then it goes to George Takei.
This was a great series… sad when it ended… never got the raves it deserved!
Shows like this would never fly today
Show is so underrated
Gordon-Levitt needs to do more comedy. He was amazing in this
oh my god! Im gorgeous!!!
Wow. Growing up watching this show I never realized how much I identified with the characters 😅 on the spectrum
That tax episode was hilarious.
Wish it never ended

Such a great show
I only want see this show in Netflix in Mexico.
Everytime I see Sally lean against the pole I just want to jump thru the tube.
Here’s your bill, Mr. Takei.
$3,000! Well, that’s ok. I’m a famous actor.
No, that’s $30,000.
Oh my!
Don't forget "There's a picture -inside that picture-!"
Brilliant baddy in Dexter
Bruh, i watched this as a kid and 90% of these jokes went over my head
One clip I've been wanting to see is where the big giant head turns off his brain and he's all confused that's my favorite moment cuz it's so funny
The assistant manager at 1:31 is the neighbor from "The King of Queens".
I love all of them. Specially fond of Gordon Levitt's character
Sally is surprisingly 🔥

03:00 - Pity (probably due to licencing issues) that Gordon's character couldn't turn it up to 90/95% and the classic THX sound then starts playing! Hahahahahaha
That was what I was expecting to happen as well
The show was before the commercial.
@@waynemarvin5661 The THX deep note has been used in trailers since 1983 and 3rd Rock started airing in 1996.
John Litgow is the best
One of if not the best sitcoms ever produced.i remember sitting on the sofa with my very young son with his belly laugh at dick.
why were you belly laughing at ...dick? gross.
I forgot how funny the show was
"Mitigated your oafishness"!
What about the finger spoon???
John Worfin discoveries tissues.

Lithgow is a treasure
I don't remember the episode with Robin in it.
The wind from the speakers was blowing in the wrong direction, the speakers were behind them
Maybe you should check what 5.1 consists of.
SURROUND sound....speakers come from the front too.
Also...to add what folks are stating...there are TWO speakers behind them....out of 6
These go to 11.
