Thanks for this. I am from FWBC. My son was saved and baptized by the church. My life was drastically changed by Anderson's bold preaching. I quit my job almost 10 years ago, after my husband and I had 2 more children. We decided I should school our then 10 year old and stay home with the littles. We read more, prayed more, "cleaned house" and tried hard to be better Christians. We had courage to get friends and family saved. We even lost very good friends; as people found out where we went to church. I try to submit to my husband and my Husband tries hard to be the leader (even though neither of us had these behaviors modeled by our own parent(s)). We learned a lot. But I cannot support Steven Anderson any longer. 4/4 adults have come forward: they aren't just some unruly kids. 2 of them are married, and one even has his own child. I have to respect these "kids" as men. I'd never want my man to hit me for sins I make. He isnt God, nor does he want to be. My heart aches for Zsu.... I've seen women bloodied. It's not for anyone. I wonder how much of her cruelty towards the children is a result of the beatings she receives first. The Man sets the tone for the home. Finally, the doxing was what broke me. Asking people to even go after his sister in law was so cruel... it Breaks my heart. But I must move where the Spirit leads me. Steven Anderson abusing his family? Not at all. No way that guy didn’t do that. I’ve been waiting for years what his kids would say once they could. I’m glad some pastors are calling him out for it. Shame on the ones defending and excusing the abuse.
Pastor Steve believed that he was in the place of God. He ruled over and tortured his wife, his children. He has pushed God aside for himself and taught that God will help others in their sins, but his fruits in his private life was destroying his children and in turn his wife, who then took it out on the babies and the children. Whatever is perceived of his works they did not come from a heart of goodness but from him exalting himself. Did Steve ever ask for forgiveness from his children or his wife, if he did not he was trying by the flesh to gain the appearance of godliness, without having the Holy Spirit to guide. We cannot do it by ourselves that’s why we have our Savior, Steve rebelled against the Holy Spirit, the spirit that changes us to have God’s character. If we can not be humbled we are left to our sinful selves, and we destroy ourselves. He and his wife and his remaining children need help, this is a dangerous situation for all of them. He who is capable of such violence against those he professes to love and protect is like a loaded pistol.
Pastor, thank you for pointing out that this is "no small issue". At issue is the physical safety of very young children this very moment! As I said commenting on this matter elsewhere, the kind of abuse described is the kind of abuse that leads to the death of children every day in the United States. In many cases where a child dies, the friends and neighbors lament, wishing they had done something, as they place candles, crosses and stuffed animals on the dead child's lawn. I don't ever want to wake up and read that there are candles, crosses and stuffed animals on the lawn of the Anderson home because a child has been killed. Beyond the impact on the church and whether to support or disassociate, is the issue of what people are called to do to ensure the safety of eight children in the home, two under the age of five (and thus more likely to die from child abuse.) What action can be taken by those close to the situation to protect the children? As a church leader, I am sure you have some ideas.
That was heartfelt Pastor Berzins. I can tell that you are heartbroken that a friend you dearly loved turned on you like a rabid animal. It appears that the man loves no one, not even his poor kids. PSA is probably generous with time and money due to no real friends per Isaac and Miriam, hating his wife (per Isaac, Miriam, and John- I didn't watch Solomon), and wanting to promote himself and get his name and image out there. Always use the basket analogy- you can literally make a sermon on why baskets are bad, if you search for the word basket. God gave us discernment also and this whole saga is disgusting, horrific, sad, makes all of us believers look bad, and extremely troubling that eight minors are still in the home. Put your loyalty for the man aside and see the objective facts. I don't care if PSA won every Nobel prize, cured cancer, etc. He is a criminal in the eyes of the law and is the definition of the leader of a high control group. It is shocking and very disturbing to me that the speaker here, a multitude of times, referred to the person in question as Pastor. The actions of Anderson are not in compliance with the Biblical requirements for that position and thus he has disqualified himself from that office.

Is that some sort of custom made piece designed with ergonomics in mind or one craftsman's artistic sense in attempting to marry a good bit of antiquity with a funhouse flavor of Art Nuovo or even contemporary? Good for you Pastor. I bet God is proud of you for standing up. In my exp it is Very uncommon for kids to lie about abuse. They aren’t the first IFB grown kids to say this. I just thought that’s the way that sect is. I suffer childhood trauma bc of the way they “taught”. I believed I was going to H%ll since 11. I cried all the time. I was never taught about God’s love. But God held onto me thru rebellious behavior until my 30’s I saw signs about Bible study & I Know God meant for me to see. Today I know a God of love. Didn’t mean for that to be so long. I wanted to ask about “tranny” comment. Pastor says he/she hates God. I find the whole thing weird but do they all Hate God? I’m not close to any to ask about it but I do know gay men & women. I don't hear discernment here. This guy bows to man. He is here now making excuses for his actions. Why is he saying some things seemed not right, but he lets it go? Maybe it did seem right, but he is not going down with the Anderson ship so decides, quite late in the conversation, that he denounces Anderson.

As an Independent Baptist, (who does have association with some IFB churches) I applaud members of the NIFB who have been willing to separate themselves from Anderson. In fact it's a sad indictment on IFB when NIFB are willing to essentially denounce their founder over unbiblical practices while many IFB leaders covered for their buddies.
He was great, he got lots of people saved and no one can take that credit from him, God used him greately. I condemn his behaviour,how he abused his wife and children, he went too far even beating wife. He must take a responsibility for it
People are complicated. You want this to be a black and white issue, when there's a lot of gray area. People can do great things for God and still have a lot of sin to answer for. Look at David with Bathsheba and Uriah. That's a pretty damning story for David and yet he's considered a man after God's own heart. Did Pastor Anderson get anyone killed like David? I'm not excusing his behavior, but rushing blindly to Pastor Anderson's defense is just as bad as condemning him as purely evil and a fake. I respect Pastor Berzins here for taking a calm, level-headed and balanced approach to the issue.

Idk, I’m sorry. I didn’t even know who Steve Anderson was until seeing all of adult children’s testimonies on his abuse. Watching some of his sermons, I was not a once surprised at the man he is. Anyone who can sit through a sermon that so vehemently abuses the word is not excusable to me. Even if now you’re saying “oh we’re separating from him.”

If I was in Pastor Berzins shoes, I would definitely consider getting his congregation to ordain him since Anderson has never even been ordained himself. He claims pastor Nichols ordained him in his office but come on, Baptist do public ordinations. Praying that God would use someone is not ordination. I doubt seriously that pastor Berzins would do that though because I am sure he doesn’t want to burn a bridge with the pope.

However, it speaks volumes because you are/were actually his good friend and if he’s calling you, his friend, and your wife a liar, who know are actually telling the truth then PSA is most likely not being truthful from the pulpit. Thanks for asking this. I missed Anderson’s point as well. He keeps banging about his children have to follow authority in their life. But these are not kids any longer. Grown up men, who are authority themselves. Also just a reminder of the sequence of the events. These guys reacting on what they perceive as a threat. It’s a REACTION. Anderson went for Miriam, she felt threat to her life, they all stood up to protect her.
I DON’T THINK PASTOR ANDERSON RAISED HIS KIDS TO BE IDIOTS Based on his own testimony. And the testimony of his kids. TOPIC OF FORCING YOUR WIFE Forcing your wife is against the law. And the bible does not teach it anywhere. Having power over your own body implies the wife is a believer. But, if she believes not, then she is not in bondage in such circumstances. She has done the wrong thing. But the bible does not give the man power to force her if she does not believe. She is still your wife, but she is not in bondage. She has done the wrong thing, but you cannot bring the bondage of forcing her in such circumstances. TOPIC OF WIFE BEATING I think that the bible is not teaching you can beat your wife. It's not teaching you can rape your wife. The bible teaches to use the Rod for correction. It does not teach you as a parent can use any other man-made object on your own children. The bible uses the term the rod literally. I think Pastor Anderson is in error for thinking the bible gives the husband the power to beat your wife; it does not. This is the verse he is in error on: Heb:12:6: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. This is typically punishment you would get from authority. And authority can be people of God. E.g whipping from government, magistrates or rulers. Not husband to wife. Scourging in the verse is also figurative. So he is just saying the same thing twice. Scourge is figurative for chasten. And this is why it says every son. The only way it makes sense is that it is figurative also. One of the qualifications for a pastor is being blameless. And beating your wife is against the law of man, and the gospel does not give the husband this power. And romans 13 comes into play. And, therefore he is not blameless, if the allegations are true. WEIGHING THE EVIDENCE I think that the evidence presented by PA's sermons, and his children out weighs: the PA's claim that it's a lie. Therefore, my judgement is that he is disqualified. He can still do other things like soul winning if he has the spirit. But cannot serve as a pastor again according to the bible. I have a lot to thank Pastor Anderson for. I would not be saved now if I didn't listen to his sermons and teachings along the way. And after Pastor Anderson according to knowledge, there’s a real big drop off. But the truth is what it is. I hope he does not pervert his way from this point, and does that which is right, returns to fellowship and friendship with those that have separated themselves.
I’m still awaiting for an explanation from Anderson regarding why he beats his wife with an electrical cord. The verses that he mentioned on adult punishment talk about punishing slaves or punishing criminals. Which one of these he thinks his wife is? Anderson keeps avoiding this question and plays semantics instead. And if he does beat his wife with an electrical cord, should he not step down? Or at least say it out loudly, so his church members would be: ok we know our pastor is a wife beater, we can leave with this. Also re his family - how is it possible that his sisters, his brother, all his grown up kids - all against him? Is it really because he is a wonderful person and done nothing wrong? Is it an example of good parenting, when all your grown up kids swear like sailors and hate you? Still qualified, huh? The Hebrew word ta-ken is rendered as BEAT & the root expresses measuring, examining, weighing it out. The one w/ the SCEPTER has authority like a king to examine the child's behavior & show mercy. When children are 'beat' they may show resentment. THERE IS NOTHING IN THE HEBREW WORDS THAT POINTS ANY PARENT TO BEATING OR WHIPPING OR STRAPPING A CHILD!!! THAT IS CLEARLY UNMERCIFUL, MEAN, UGLY, UNLOVING, TYRANNICAL, A B U S E!!! AND THE OPPOSITE OF OUR LOVING FATHER IN HEAVEN & HIS SON JESUS CHRIST!!! There is a lot more explained in this chapter, but I think this is enough to understand the different Hebrew words & how they do NOT mean what the translators have written. I have found the translation problems to be quite frustrating at times. Thankfully, if I want to know what the word of God says, I need to prayerfully dig until I find the answer. The WHOLE CHURCH is "separating" from Anderson? Isn't that the same as firing him? I seriously doubt if Anderson still considers this man his "friend." After listening to Anderson's wife who reminds me of a concentration camp matron, I wonder if she was always like that before she met him. Why did this take so long?
You do have a reason to question everything that he says. He knows the bible and he knows what he was doing to his wife was wrong yet he remained behind the pulpit knowing he was disqualified. And if he believes that he can act in such a manner and considers to be biblical than consider that he is unsaved.

I think this was a weak presentation. You dont want to air the dirty laundry when it comes to horrifically abused kids, but you will air dirty laundry about Steven Andersons' reaction to you. Glad you will always be his friend, sorta, but how about being a friend to 12 horrifically abused kids? How about calling themand inviting them out for lunch and apologizing for seeing an incidence of abuse and not confronting the parents years ago. Arizona is a very conservative state, and Prescott is probably the most conservative part of the state. There are loads and loads of Christians in the Prescott/Prescott Valley metro area. If he couldn't start a Baptist church there and have it thrive then he just wasn't trying hard enough. Closing up shop there and moving the church to Atlanta was a cop-out and an abysmal failure. I have never respected this man as a pastor.

Thanks for this. I am from FWBC. My son was saved and baptized by the church. My life was drastically changed by Anderson's bold preaching. I quit my job almost 10 years ago, after my husband and I had 2 more children. We decided I should school our then 10 year old and stay home with the littles. We read more, prayed more, "cleaned house" and tried hard to be better Christians. We had courage to get friends and family saved. We even lost very good friends; as people found out where we went to church. I try to submit to my husband and my Husband tries hard to be the leader (even though neither of us had these behaviors modeled by our own parent(s)). We learned a lot.
But I cannot support Steven Anderson any longer. 4/4 adults have come forward: they aren't just some unruly kids. 2 of them are married, and one even has his own child. I have to respect these "kids" as men. I'd never want my man to hit me for sins I make. He isnt God, nor does he want to be. My heart aches for Zsu.... I've seen women bloodied. It's not for anyone. I wonder how much of her cruelty towards the children is a result of the beatings she receives first. The Man sets the tone for the home.
Finally, the doxing was what broke me. Asking people to even go after his sister in law was so cruel... it Breaks my heart. But I must move where the Spirit leads me. God's answer sometimes is No.

Pastor Steve believed that he was in the place of God. He ruled over and tortured his wife, his children. He has pushed God aside for himself and taught that God will help others in their sins, but his fruits in his private life was destroying his children and in turn his wife, who then took it out on the babies and the children. Whatever is perceived of his works they did not come from a heart of goodness but from him exalting himself. Did Steve ever ask for forgiveness from his children or his wife, if he did not he was trying by the flesh to gain the appearance of godliness, without having the Holy Spirit to guide. We cannot do it by ourselves

If we can not be humbled we are left to our sinful selves, and we destroy ourselves. He and his wife and his remaining children need help, this is a dangerous situation for all of them. Pastor, thank you for pointing out that this is "no small issue". At issue is the physical safety of very young children this very moment! As I said commenting on this matter elsewhere, the kind of abuse described is the kind of abuse that leads to the death of children every day in the United States. In many cases where a child dies, the friends and neighbors lament, wishing they had done something, as they place candles, crosses and stuffed animals on the dead child's lawn. I don't ever want to wake up and read that there are candles, crosses and stuffed animals on the lawn of the Anderson home because a child has been killed. Beyond the impact on the church and whether to support or disassociate, is the issue of what people are called to do to ensure the safety of eight children in the home, two under the age of five (and thus more likely to die from child abuse.) What action can be taken by those close to the situation to protect the children? As a church leader, I am sure you have some ideas.
That was heartfelt Pastor Berzins. I can tell that you are heartbroken that a friend you dearly loved turned on you like a rabid animal. It appears that the man loves no one, not even his poor kids. PSA is probably generous with time and money due to no real friends per Isaac and Miriam, hating his wife (per Isaac, Miriam, and John- I didn't watch Solomon), and wanting to promote himself and get his name and image out there. The obsession with soul winning I suspect is to make up for the horrific atrocities at the hands of his wife and he at home. It is the ultimate way to spend time outside the home. One cannot argue with it.
My husband is a huge NIFB fan and unfortunately an Andersonite. When I first saw and heard a lot of the spin on doctrine and ridiculous unhinged anger, I said "I bet he beats his wife and kids." This was two years ago.
I'd be shocked if this pastor wasn't the subject of Wednesday night's upcoming sermon...PSA only cares for salvation spreading and to glorify his own name and brand. He uses the Bible to justify horrible actions. Remember- via proof texting, one can make a sermon about their opinion and wrap it in Scripture. Always use the basket analogy- you can literally make a sermon on why baskets are bad, if you search for the word basket.

People are complicated. You want this to be a black and white issue, when there's a lot of gray area. People can do great things for God and still have a lot of sin to answer for. Look at David with Bathsheba and Uriah. That's a pretty damning story for David and yet he's considered a man after God's own heart. Did Pastor Anderson get anyone killed like David? I'm not excusing his behavior, but rushing blindly to Pastor Anderson's defense is just as bad as condemning him as purely evil and a fake.

Forcing your wife is against the law. And the bible does not teach it anywhere.
Having power over your own body implies the wife is a believer. But, if she believes not, then she is not in bondage in such circumstances. She has done the wrong thing. But the bible does not give the man power to force her if she does not believe.
She is still your wife, but she is not in bondage. She has done the wrong thing, but you cannot bring the bondage of forcing her in such circumstances.
TOPIC OF WIFE BEATING
I think that the bible is not teaching you can beat your wife. It's not teaching you can rape your wife. The bible teaches to use the Rod for correction. It does not teach you as a parent can use any other man-made object on your own children.
The bible uses the term the rod literally. I think Pastor Anderson is in error for thinking the bible gives the husband the power to beat your wife; it does not. This is the verse he is in error on:
Heb:12:6: For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
This is typically punishment you would get from authority. And authority can be people of God. E.g whipping from government, magistrates or rulers. Not husband to wife.
Scourging in the verse is also figurative. So he is just saying the same thing twice. Scourge is figurative for chasten. And this is why it says every son. The only way it makes sense is that it is figurative also.
One of the qualifications for a pastor is being blameless. And beating your wife is against the law of man, and the gospel does not give the husband this power. And romans 13 comes into play. And, therefore he is not blameless, if the allegations are true.
WEIGHING THE EVIDENCE
I think that the evidence presented by PA's sermons, and his children out weighs: the PA's claim that it's a lie. Therefore, my judgement is that he is disqualified.
He can still do other things like soul winning if he has the spirit. But cannot serve as a pastor again according to the bible.
I have a lot to thank Pastor Anderson for. I would not be saved now if I didn't listen to his sermons and teachings along the way. And after Pastor Anderson according to knowledge, there’s a real big drop off. But the truth is what it is.
I hope he does not pervert his way from this point, and does that which is right, returns to fellowship and friendship with those that have separated themselves.

The verses that he mentioned on adult punishment talk about punishing slaves or punishing criminals. Which one of these he thinks his wife is?
Anderson keeps avoiding this question and plays semantics instead.
And if he does beat his wife with an electrical cord, should he not step down? Or at least say it out loudly, so his church members would be: ok we know our pastor is a wife beater, we can leave with this.
Also re his family - how is it possible that his sisters, his brother, all his grown up kids - all against him? Is it really because he is a wonderful person and done nothing wrong?
Is it an example of good parenting, when all your grown up kids swear like sailors and hate you? Still qualified, huh?
Also, why Anderson has been so quick to throw everyone of his pastor friends under the bus over the course of many years? Ridiculing and mocking them online?

The WHOLE CHURCH is "separating" from Anderson? Isn't that the same as firing him? I seriously doubt if Anderson still considers this man his "friend." You do have a reason to question everything that he says. He knows the bible and he knows what he was doing to his wife was wrong yet he remained behind the pulpit knowing he was disqualified. And if he believes that he can act in such a manner and considers to be biblical than consider that he is unsaved.

I think this was a weak presentation. You dont want to air the dirty laundry when it comes to horrifically abused kids, but you will air dirty laundry about Steven Andersons' reaction to you. Glad you will always be his friend, sorta, but how about being a friend to 12 horrifically abused kids? How about calling themand inviting them out for lunch and apologizing for seeing an incidence of abuse and not confronting the parents years ago. Arizona is a very conservative state, and Prescott is probably the most conservative part of the state. There are loads and loads of Christians in the Prescott/Prescott Valley metro area. If he couldn't start a Baptist church there and have it thrive then he just wasn't trying hard enough. Closing up shop there and moving the church to Atlanta was a cop-out and an abysmal failure. I have never respected this man as a pastor.
