Do not make this adjustment unless advised to do so by Losmandy. All Losmandy mounts are hand-tuned by trained professionals at the factory. Additional adjustments are usually not necessary and may degrade mount performance if not done properly. - บันเทิง
Thank you for posting this! My G11 arrived from the factory with some of that play you demonstrate in the worm (to be fair it had transited the pacific ocean to get here so probably got a few bumps on the way). This video makes it abundantly clear from the source how the worm mechanism works. I did get great support from the losmandy user groups describing this procedure.
You should mention that the motors should be removed to get the feel of the gears turning and when they grab.
I wonder about the last step where you use the screw to back the spring loaded worm out. Wouldn't it be better to have a lower spring force and the ability to float in and out to compensate for any out of round issues on the main gear. If you adjusted on a high spot then you would have play on a low spot due to the screw stopping inward movement.
The directions are good as stated. When we originally developed the SLW, we found that we couldn't adjust the spring "light" enough to both keep it engaged and avoid too much pressure. the backing out screw avoids this second scenario to allow you to balance it. We might add you can rotate the worm 360 and make sure the gearbox spins freefly in all places.
Is there an upgrade to replace the spur gears with a belt system.
Not from Losmandy. and I dont know of any out on the market.

Great question - Losmandy mounts have been around for over 30 years, so there are differences on the mounts depending on the date of manufacture. This specific video is for adjusting spring-loaded worms, which were added to Losmandy mounts in early 2019.
