    After I use the flat side, I use a pick to softly lift my hair, don't pull the comb all the way through. The lift results in soft looking twists & a bit of fullness & eliminating scalp showing. I do it almost daily. This is the step she may've overlooked. Damp hair works better. Thanx.

    Very helpful especially when she mentions how to use the sponge. When she says lightly use the sponge as opposed to pushing down hard on the hair. That really worked for me.

    I hope the lady that came up with the sponge concept patented it. I remember when she was on Facebook showing us how it worked well with her natural hair. She had actually made the holes herself into a regular sponge. I just hope she was abled to capitalize on her idea. White Folk’s probably decided to put them in stores.

    Try the ridged side again. Remember you cannot switch directions which is easy to forget when you switch hands. When you do you’re actually un-doing the twists. It’s reversing the curl pattern. You’ll get better results.

    I always use the textured side because I prefer curls to twists. As she showed in the video the textured side curls but the flat side twists your hair rather than curl it.
    To get the best results, use a coconut oil based curling cream, I use the Cantu brand (I'm not advertising, it's just the only brand I've tried and it works so I stuck to it)

    🤴🏾I have been using the spike side for a very long time for really short hair. When the pandemic hit I was not going to get my cut. I continue to use the spike side. The result was my hair looked like someone was curling it. Started the flat side for longer hair but my hair does not look as curly. 😢 I believe it depends on your hair texture to get the result that you want. When I get my hair cut a little lower I will return to the spike side. 😊 Thank you for the demo. 👍🏽🌹

    For dreadlocks the wavy side gives more uneven sized dreadlocks. My hairs a bit longer then hers and that’s what happened to me. It has more of a free form look but the other side made it look more uniform.

    Before I get this sponge, can you please tell me whether it’s easy to comb through the curls afterwards, or does the sponge knot up the hair? Thanks for the demo!

      @JanaiKirsten  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      it twists the hair so you could comb through it

    Is it possible to use the sponge on dry hair to touch up the curls??

    • @JanaiKirsten
      @JanaiKirsten  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      you’d probably want to put some type of moisture or curl defining product or even if you have a spray bottle? but you could do it dry i’ve just always noticed better results with product

    Big help thank you so much I just ordered the sponge so I have 4C here. I use the same styling product that you use and so I’m looking for something that looks presentable when you go outside so you’ve done a great job on your presentation. Thank you so much.❤

    Very helpful tutorial i tried using that same sponge it didn’t come out I will try it again any who I’m afraid to use the sponge often because my hair might come out with the circular movement of the sponge

    Your video was so helpful because it clearly shows the end result of both sponge curl side and u so cute,keep up the good work. Your concept of showing result of both side of the sponge was a brilliant idea

    Thanks for showing both sides. I’m a guy and I prefer the ridged side because I like the more natural spongeFro look.

    Use rough first on entire hair before using the flat on the entire hair

    How often should I use the curl sponge? Because I tend to use it quite often daily but I make sure that I put blue magic coconut oil in my hair before I use it. I just recently got mine but the more I use it the more detailed the curls in my hair become and how often should I wash my hair and fully comb it out again to use? Thank you for this video it really helped especially with the technique of using it softly on your hair in a steady circular motion.

    After using the exact same sponge you are using for years, my hair has started to thin at the top, where I use it the most., I was just told by a beautician, NOT to use that sponge, she says it takes your hair out. I just threw the exact same sponge you are showing in the trash.

    I love your presentation. I use the sponge everyday but you brought it home for ,e. Especially the need for the dampness & the leave-in conditioner. Thank you! Keep it up pleade!
