Shake your coil, you should hear oil in it. Coil will be hot if the oil is gone. In ‘59 my Dad bought a 58 4door Biscayne with a 6 cyl. Sold it to a guy that went to the same HS in the early 70’s. He said it was great and plowed through the snow with ease during tge winter.
I got 15 yrs out of a Pertronix unit and another 15 yrs out of a Crane XR-i unit before both were affected from heat and started to fail. So reading about these units 2 yrs ago cause I wanted to try the Accel unit but read these fail right out of the box. So piss on that, I have plenty of points and condensers from my points days and I’m back to running points in my 1970 Z/28 4 speed Camaro that I purchased from the original owner in 1981. In ‘74 for $3,000 I purchased a 1968 Z/28 and it had points and could tear up the street with that 302 revver. 😅 A friend of mine is the current owner of my 68 Z/28. BTW if you have points that are wear normal then keep that condenser, don’t change it. Some condensers wear points out quicker.
Really kewl every time your Brother comes over what a Character ! He is so right you buy cheap parts you'll end up buying them twice ( ask me how I know ) At least you're making a good amount of progress!
Ty 😊 ..I try to behave, but you are correct..you get what you pay for and the quality of parts have plummeted in the last 15 years or so , we try to find old stock if we can
@MarcHoffman-f8w yeah I'm 58 and it was a great time growing up ! All the parts I got were from friends or the junkyard and they were good ! Now it's basically all junk unless like you said you do a clean out . My last name is Hoffman lol.. You and Brother Jack are my favorite Team up Duo full of knowledge ! Thanks again for the great antics and videos
I was wondering if you've had any problems with flat tappet cams in the last 5-7 yers. I'm looking to rebuild my Ford 390 and I've been running across a number of horror stories.
Was on the phone with engine rebuider for the 70 malibu, asked the same thing , he said no issues with melling cams ..but careful with Johnson lifters ..something with metal hardness far back 2015 ish

Try a resistor, inline, to the coil.
I have a 307 in my 1970 nova original points system. those have the non hardened seats in the heads, I use lead subsitute it keeps the valves cool.

Tool cat should hook up well on those SLICKS
Why no headers on the Vetski engine?
You and brother Mark make a good team doing videos.
not for break in esp with the coating on them. My stand don't have the clearance for them either.
@@anythinggoesgarage5943 Understood, I didn’t know if you still had the old headers ……
just rip it all out and re-wire it 🤣
