scribbles nah, during the competition arc he shone as a great team caster, and later on wearing dark shadow as a cloak makes him excellent in close combat. Not sure if the anime has gotten far enough to meet hawks, but that is when he learns to fly with it. Even during the day he is a beast, at night he just becomes all but undefeatable

his quirk may be one of the most aesthetically best but he is undoubtedly not the strongest.
Yeah ESPECIALLY in nighttime.
He needs some kind of reversible cloak, so that Dark Shadow can be basked in brightness during the night or shrouded in darkness during the day.

Tokoyami is one of my top 5 favorite characters in the serie, also he has the coolest quirk in the show. I have always loved power that involvs darkness and shadow
hes has one of the strongest ones in the school. He's my number 1 favorite

Light is the problem so how do we adjust the amount of light?
*Too much light* and dark shadow is weak, so lets give him smoke bombs to blot out the light powering up Darkshadow and concealing his presence at the same time, give him either Inferred or night vision goggles so he can see in the darkness even better.
*Too little light* and now dark shadow is unstoppable and uncontrollable, so now we give him flash bangs to immediately put dark shadow in check while also disorientating villains. Just make sure you're not wearing the night vision goggels at the same time or you'll super burn your retinas lol.

I literally just typed the exact suggestion a sec ago. Pretty cool to come up with the same solution. Smokebombs and flashbangs.
I think just a powerful flashlight (or we can call it light emitter to make it sound cooler) would be more controllable than flashbangs.
However, I think the best way is for him to learn to control Dark Shadow more. He can do more intensive training in dark environments.
This aren't very sustainable methods. I would install also a lamp and shadow cover.
I'd say that Tokoyami won't need those if he fully masters Dark Shadow at night.
Awesome, you did Tokoyami! And the idea of him evolving his Dark Shadow to work like the Venom Symbiote is really interesting. Only downside is now you've covered Tokoyami and I can't request him anymore. So, for the next of The class I'd like to see covered would be Kyoka Jiro

They made it seem like he was going to have a bigger role in the anime in season 1 and even flashes in season 2, so far, as one of my favorite characters, he has not lived up to what I thought he would. I want more from him

He needs a suit that emits light to conbat darkness so there is no beserk mode at nightime in a city setting for example.

if tokoyomai got OFA then it would not make dark shadow just stronger in light but also darkness. based on the power amping effect of OFA, dark shadow would most likely become nigh unstoppable, even more than it already is, when in darkness. and even remain an incredible asset even in very bright situations.

I believe his powers are based off of Jungian philosophy. In this philosophy everyone has a personal shadow that is every part of them that they subconsciously & consciously stigmatize/fear/dislike and don’t like in other people. We loose control of our shadows when we loose our cool, and can lash out.
I highly recommend looking it up, and being aware of your shadows
I think it would be cool if:
The Tokoyami parents had twins, two boys. They weren’t born with Quirks, and got them at the regular Quirk-gaining age. They got their Quirk together, at the exact same time. The boys were feverish and sick for a couple of days, and the doctors advised the Tokoyami parents to stay away from them as much as possible, in case they were contagious. When the Tokoyami parents went to check on their two sons, they discovered that one had gone missing, and the other had a crow-like head. The parents were horrified by their missing son, immediately trying to call the police to search for him. Fumigate stopped them quickly. A shadow-like figure came from his stomach, it’s figure eerily similar to Fumikage!s new bird-like form.The shadow-like creature could speak, and the Tokoyami family deduced that the shadow was the second Tokoyami brother. They assumed that the boy’s shared a Quirk, giving them both bird!like appearances, and making them share Fumikage’s body. Fumikage, being the original owner of the shared body, had control over when his brother could come out in the open. However, at night, the second brother became uncontrollable if not near a light source.

Atsumi TM that would be a cool backstory. It’s kinda like nezuko and tanjiro’s relationship from demon slayer.
A true evolution to his quirk would be if he could separate from dark shadow and still have a telepathic bond or if dark shadow multiplied so there would be at least 2 or 3
@Garrett Thomas obviously you are not a fan of Peter Pan, but seriously All Might said that as you get to know you quirk you can learn how it truly works right now we think of it as a living shadow because of its resemblance to a shadow and it's name. But shadows can't be cast in pure darkness, but dark shadow can exist and becomes stronger the darker it is, so he really isn't a shadow, so theoretically it would be possible for them to separate

I just had a sad thought that Dark Shadow is Tokoyami's absorbed twin and their quirk types combined - emitter and mutation.
Inb4 they are conjoined twins
Tokoyami was noted to be an anomaly in the quirk classification system. Like you said. Both emitter and mutation. That's a neat idea that would reconcile the contradiction. Never thought of that possibility.
Tokoyami is my favorite hero in the show. His quirk is so creative and unique and I cannot wait time see how he grows and develops over time.
This reminds of Naruto and Kurama’s relationship and also I would be cool if he could fully merge with Dark Shadow and sense negative and positive emotions giving him a boost in strength.
Another quirk evolution theory I would love to see with tokoyami is him controlling dark shadow to travel through floors and walls like an actual shadow that can’t be physically harmed similar to celty from durarara or rouge from fairy tail. Also him being able to travel with dark shadow when it’s transporting through walls would be pretty dope as well

If it is amorphous, I don't see any reason why the shadow cannot stretch itself into a sliver and slip through cracks in the walls and floors. I would rather like to see Dark Shadow learn to have better control over its physical shape and form. Most of the power-ups in BNHA comes from learning new applications of preexisting powers rather than stacking on it a new attribute

I just realized that a lot of class one a could probably have an advantage over Tokoyami. Bakugo with bright explosions, Todoroki with fire, Aoyama with his sparkling navel laser, Toru with her light refraction, Kaminari with his electricity, Momo could create light sources, and even Koda could potentially control bioluminescent bugs (probably wouldn't be super effective but it couldn't hurt )
Although he could probably beat Koda and Aoyama with skill

He could cover his full body in light, he will need dark shadow to stretch away from him, at least about enough to cover surface area of tokayami, then wrap dark shadow around tokayami. It’s like a roll of tape. Tokayami can even create more limbs when in the whole body armor stage just do the same method but u won’t get hands just a arm with a hole in it

Support item idea for Tokoyami. His cape starts folding onto itself many times to have a huge radius cloak that can be thrown up/flies up and just casts a vast shadow that gives him a small window that unlocks dark shadow full blast. In my head it would also function as a straight jacket after the villain was defeated.
He needs to go train with the Nara. Clan from Naruto. Also what if they fuse together like naruto and kurama and enter their own "kurama mode"

He was so upset when Shoji had gotten hurt that Dark Shadow fed off his emotions and freaked out to the point where it couldn’t be controlled/he destroyed a whole forest, so I wonder how bad it would’ve gotten if Tokoyami saw Shoji die right there?? That’d be crazy as fuck.

Dark shadow as a quirk has limitless potential it has already learned how to materialize itself as wings in the future it may also learn to shape shift in forms of different weapons like blades or wrap itself around such weapons making them a part of itself like we see in the movie hero's rising dark shadow wrapped itself around the metal claws just think about it dark shadow reminds me a lot of venom from spiderman and horikoshi is a huge spiderman fan in the future I am sure we would see dark shadow being able to materialize in form of different weapons moreover I am interested in seeing the relationship between tokoyami and dark shadow because it is one of the most interesting quirks as shadow has a mind of its own maybe we can see that in the future both tokoyami and shadow fight side by side as allies rather than him being just a tool

Also I like to think that dark shadow form mimics what tokoyami sees him as, a reflection of himself, similar but somewhat opposite, as dark shadow is outgoing and boastful compared to tokoyami who is reserved and emo. So it would stand to reason that he could eventually change shape like and shadow.

I’d honestly love to see another evolution of dark shadow is a power boost to another hero.
Like let’s say he’s pinned down, but his teammate is still in the game.
He could extend shadow out, and give someone else protection, or a power boost enough for them.
Like let’s take Deku, let’s say he broke an arm or leg, Tokoyami could use dark shadow as a brace for him so he could punch again, or continue to fight.
