Little pieces of each series help to fuel the story, and Horikoshi's strength as an author and writer has increased with every generation. BNHA is Horikoshi's One For All. I have alot of respect for Horokoshi, it seemed that almost every serialized story he published ended with failure or cancellation. You hear all these popular manga artists who had one story launch them into fame and fortune, but most of them just had one story that made them into stars. With Horokoshi he had to make two or three canceled series in order to get one amazing on going franchise. Maybe it was just the time and place, maybe it was the popularity of superhero movies, or maybe Devine intervention who knows. But all I do know is it's true what they say in the shounen world: never give up.

It still sold around the same sales as last year, the reason why it was somewhat lower is because the latest volume got delayed in Japan & so was only released 2 weeks ago. As well as plenty of people did find the League arc entertaining. There wasn't any humongous drop-off or anything like that.

Still great it's in the top 10,but it's obviously sold less this year(more then a million less if the numbers are correct,to be exact). For whatever reason,whether it's due to less volumes releasing this year,the anime adaptation coming later in the year,or simply out of having stiffer competition then previous years. Love MHA and it's one of my favorites,but facts are undeniable,something has driven sales lower. It was simple speculation on my part tht the Villains arc had anything to do with it,primarily because the series did seem to slow down considerably during it,which could throw some people off.

Just would have to space it out because it would be to tiring and the artwork would lack consistency because of the overworking of drawers and animators

i read that zoo manga a while back before my hero was even out. i honestly enjoyed it a lot and was bummed out when it was cancelled. I didn't even know it was the same author until right now.

But Horikoshi thought that his look is boring and nothing special about him so Horikoshi changed Midoriya into the black hair version but when he done, he looks at Midoriya and thought " Dude, get a haircut" and then Horikoshi changed him back to the green hair version

I first discovered Hori's work through Sensei no Bulge/Barrage. I absolutely loved it, and even ended up buying all its volumes, but sadly, it didn't survive the shonen grinder. When I learned that MHA was his baby, I jumped on on to it post-haste. I've been hooked ever since.
I think the fact that My Hero started off really unconventional, with Midoriya as a salaryman, shows how much Horikoshi wanted to make something unique and emotionally 'real'. And it really does feel like Horikoshi had to be convinced to make something more 'shounen-esque', and as a result, Hero Academia has very generic characters, setting and plot at the start of its show. But as it progresses, his talent for character development and emotional realism really begins to shine. The final product is the a shounen series to its core, but is also not like any other shounen. It has the heart of a pure shounen series, telling you to work hard, never give up, the power of friendship, justice, all of that. But the fight scenes are limited and short, scars are added and stay, clothes change frequently, fight moves change frequently, villains are relatable, side characters are given huge spotlights and events have so much impact. And as the show will progress (as seen in the manga) the launchpad 'shounen genre' is shed to leave really heavy, intense situations and character development. It doesn't get 'dark' just to be edgy, but it is real, and properly set up.

The girl with snakes in her hair (forgot her hero name) looks exactly the same as the one from the rabbit manga. Also, old Midoriya is kind of creepy looking but the story seems interesting.
The other version of Deku actually looks like some of the villains in MHA to be totally honest. But then again there are actually two characters that I know of in MHA itself,that kinda look like villains. One being Eraserhead and that one kid. The one who got put in general studies instead of the hero course. The one who had a quirk that actually let him control other people and who also fought Midoriya as well.

Great video. It is fascinating to see the meteoric rise of Kohei Horikoshi. In many ways, he very much like his main character, Izuku Midoriya, from that series. I'll never forget the day I checked out the first chapter of MHA. When I read it I knew that this series had potential and that I knew it was going to get big if it got a great anime adaptation. Little did I know that my favorite animation studio would get and the rest was history. Something I always respected about Horikoshi was his character writing. He has this fantastic ability to strip down the layers of a character and showcase to use what makes them tick. And MHA in my view has one of the best supporting cast of characters since Naruto. But I think what really made me love this series to death is(MANGA SPOILERS) is My Villain Academia. Not only did Horikoshi handle the conventional tropes well, but the fact that we got an entire arc with the villains WITHOUT the main character/ cast for four months blows my mind. That is super balsy especially given how Japan loves there heroes and you even saw some people in Japan gripping about this. In a world where Jump was starting to stagnant, something like this arc is a breath of fresh air, much like Dr. Stone. So yeah; I get why people do not like MHA. But MVA was a massive game-changer. Something I want to see more series approach. And really solidified Horikoshi as a great mangaka for me.
Exactly! People are claiming My Hero is losing readers because it sucks,when in reality it's because it tried doing something outside of the conventional norms of Shonen manga,giving an entire arc to the bad guys. People left because most weren't reading it for Shigaraki and the League,but for Deku and 1-A. Thus since they weren't getting tht,they threw a hissy fit. I personally loved MHA before the villains arc,but it was tht arc tht rlly helped cement it as my favorite Shonen of recent years. Giving an entire arc to characters your readers are supposed to hate is an extremely risky move. It had both a negative and positive impact though,and in the long run I personally think it will benefit MHA.

I’ve been a fan of Horikoshi since oumagadoki zoo, I remember reading it when it was serisaling. I saw Horikoshi grow and he deserves every single success he’s got. I have all 5 volumes of Zoo, the 2 volumes of bulge and all the volumes of MHA
Plot Armor for style, like character design, I loved the pure insanity of Oumagadoki Zoo. For story and Art style overall, My Hero Academia. Sensei no bulge, is something I read just to support him at the time, I remember waiting and waiting for it to get to the “story boost” I guess? But I enjoyed it for the improvement of his artwork and the art style stayed for My Hero and I’m very happy about that. I remember always looking at his pixiv account too (sadly now deleted) but Horikoshi is my biggest inspiration as a manga artist myself. He’s the All Might to my Deku.
Plot Armor also you may have missed it but, The character “Toy Poodle” makes an appearance in season 2 of my hero academia as someone whose watching the tournament in the crowd. I was so happy when I saw her
This is truly an underdog story, I believe that One Punch Man was one of the few manga Horikoshi might've read during his development of his one shot because Emo Midoriya shares the same desires as Saitama pre-training.
I loved this video so much. I'm subbing even though I dont see any other videos in this same vein. It would be amazing to see someone go through the most popular mangakas and show off their past works, success, failures, etc. I know that would be a hell of a lot of work for not much reward, but hell it earned a sub here hands down. What a journey. I'm so glad he persisted!! He could have felt defeated and given up... but he went on to create something so inspiring. And he didnt just throw away his previous work like it wasn't important - even though people might have thought that - he used his previous works because they were a part of him. That's amazing
So listening to this video, i also realized something. There’s a quote or image somewhere... but it’s two guys looking for gold. And one man gives up right before he hits the gold. The other, keeps going and reaches the gold and great success. It’s a real life example of that. If he would have given up , we would have never had the beautiful works of art we have today. So follow his example. The only way from the bottom, is up. And you need to keep going, because you never know that success could be RIGHT in front of you. And I think that’s really cool :)
I really like this story a lot,I'm glad the Creator didn't give up and just kept on moving forward I can see the similarities between him and midoriya.
Meta-wise, it makes sense that Horikoshi decided against making Izuku a straight out Quirkless hero and chose to make him the successor of All Might. Often, the powerset of the hero influences the style of stories one tells about him or her and the environment in which the story is set, two notable examples of this are Superman with Metropolis and Batman with Gotham. Had Horikoshi made Izuku a quirkless hero, he would have been forced to compensate both in equipment and attitude to keep up with the other heroes, impacting the tone of the story and making it more cynical and less hopeful, which was not what Horikoshi wanted. This can be noticed in the prototype sketch of Izuku back when he was going to be a powerless hero.

I think Hirokoshi is a genius. He make a simple story very interesting. Instead of making the main character very flashy, he made Deku very plain. Which is refreshing.
Mha is my all time favorite series, I admire Horokoshi’s hard work though the years and I’m very proud of him. I’ve made some new friends through this series and I always love to read/ watch it so thank you for this beauty. The only downside about this series is when you go on a play form unrelated to mha and people turn it into stuff about my hero and every body believes that the series isn’t good bc it’s over rated, it is a good series , yes it is a bit over rated but it dose love up to the hype in my opinion. It’s most certainly worth your time. So many talented people aphave worked to bring us this series and I will hold on to it forever. Slight rant lol

I actually prefer Yamikumo (proto deku) more than the canon one. Cuz Yamikumo didn't receive AFO, he's fighting with brain and equipment he build himself. That concept can also represent that it's okay not to be like everyone else irl, in the anime it can represent that quirk is not everything and hero is not all about strong power / quirk etc. And Yamikumo can became like Iron Man or Batman, didn't have power but smart (also rich)

Also, old Midoriya is kind of creepy looking but the story seems interesting.
The other version of Deku actually looks like some of the villains in MHA to be totally honest. But then again there are actually two characters that I know of in MHA itself,that kinda look like villains. One being Eraserhead and that one kid. The one who got put in general studies instead of the hero course. The one who had a quirk that actually let him control other people and who also fought Midoriya as well.
And apparently the snake lady's name is Uwabami-san.

Great video. It is fascinating to see the meteoric rise of Kohei Horikoshi. In many ways, he very much like his main character, Izuku Midoriya, from that series. I'll never forget the day I checked out the first chapter of MHA. When I read it I knew that this series had potential and that I knew it was going to get big if it got a great anime adaptation. Little did I know that my favorite animation studio would get and the rest was history. Something I always respected about Horikoshi was his character writing. He has this fantastic ability to strip down the layers of a character and showcase to use what makes them tick.
And MHA in my view has one of the best supporting cast of characters since Naruto. But I think what really made me love this series to death is(MANGA SPOILERS) is My Villain Academia. Not only did Horikoshi handle the conventional tropes well, but the fact that we got an entire arc with the villains WITHOUT the main character/ cast for four months blows my mind.
That is super balsy especially given how Japan loves there heroes and you even saw some people in Japan gripping about this. In a world where Jump was starting to stagnant, something like this arc is a breath of fresh air, much like Dr. Stone. So yeah; I get why people do not like MHA. But MVA was a massive game-changer. Something I want to see more series approach.
And really solidified Horikoshi as a great mangaka for me.
People will lose their shit once MVA gets animated.
That (MANGA SPOILER BEWARE) villain arc is Literally One of the best Arcs in mha rn.

Exactly! People are claiming My Hero is losing readers because it sucks,when in reality it's because it tried doing something outside of the conventional norms of Shonen manga,giving an entire arc to the bad guys. People left because most weren't reading it for Shigaraki and the League,but for Deku and 1-A. Thus since they weren't getting tht,they threw a hissy fit. I personally loved MHA before the villains arc,but it was tht arc tht rlly helped cement it as my favorite Shonen of recent years. Giving an entire arc to characters your readers are supposed to hate is an extremely risky move. It had both a negative and positive impact though,and in the long run I personally think it will benefit MHA.

Plot Armor for style, like character design, I loved the pure insanity of Oumagadoki Zoo. For story and Art style overall, My Hero Academia. Sensei no bulge, is something I read just to support him at the time, I remember waiting and waiting for it to get to the “story boost” I guess? But I enjoyed it for the improvement of his artwork and the art style stayed for My Hero and I’m very happy about that. I remember always looking at his pixiv account too (sadly now deleted) but Horikoshi is my biggest inspiration as a manga artist myself. He’s the All Might to my Deku.
Plot Armor also you may have missed it but, The character “Toy Poodle” makes an appearance in season 2 of my hero academia as someone whose watching the tournament in the crowd. I was so happy when I saw her

This is truly an underdog story, I believe that One Punch Man was one of the few manga Horikoshi might've read during his development of his one shot because Emo Midoriya shares the same desires as Saitama pre-training.

What a journey. I'm so glad he persisted!! He could have felt defeated and given up... but he went on to create something so inspiring. And he didnt just throw away his previous work like it wasn't important - even though people might have thought that - he used his previous works because they were a part of him. That's amazing
So listening to this video, i also realized something. There’s a quote or image somewhere... but it’s two guys looking for gold. And one man gives up right before he hits the gold.
The other, keeps going and reaches the gold and great success.
It’s a real life example of that. If he would have given up , we would have never had the beautiful works of art we have today. So follow his example. The only way from the bottom, is up. And you need to keep going, because you never know that success could be RIGHT in front of you. And I think that’s really cool :)

I really like this story a lot,I'm glad the Creator didn't give up and just kept on moving forward I can see the similarities between him and midoriya.
Meta-wise, it makes sense that Horikoshi decided against making Izuku a straight out Quirkless hero and chose to make him the successor of All Might. Often, the powerset of the hero influences the style of stories one tells about him or her and the environment in which the story is set, two notable examples of this are Superman with Metropolis and Batman with Gotham. Had Horikoshi made Izuku a quirkless hero, he would have been forced to compensate both in equipment and attitude to keep up with the other heroes, impacting the tone of the story and making it more cynical and less hopeful, which was not what Horikoshi wanted. This can be noticed in the prototype sketch of Izuku back when he was going to be a powerless hero.

Everyone likes Prototype Katsuki and Yami/Deku because of the hair and personalities.
Mha is my all time favorite series, I admire Horokoshi’s hard work though the years and I’m very proud of him. I’ve made some new friends through this series and I always love to read/ watch it so thank you for this beauty. The only downside about this series is when you go on a play form unrelated to mha and people turn it into stuff about my hero and every body believes that the series isn’t good bc it’s over rated, it is a good series , yes it is a bit over rated but it dose love up to the hype in my opinion. It’s most certainly worth your time. So many talented people aphave worked to bring us this series and I will hold on to it forever.

I actually prefer Yamikumo (proto deku) more than the canon one. Cuz Yamikumo didn't receive AFO, he's fighting with brain and equipment he build himself. That concept can also represent that it's okay not to be like everyone else irl, in the anime it can represent that quirk is not everything and hero is not all about strong power / quirk etc. And Yamikumo can became like Iron Man or Batman, didn't have power but smart (also rich)
This is why people should like the plot instead of everyday shipping the characters 😒 but I’m glad hori made this manga it affects me a lot 😌
