Charles Dickens is my gt gt gt grandfather (or maybe one more gt) since you mentioned him. This video was absolutely epic. To see the site in modern times, as if I was there, was wondefful. I have never been to England, and niether has my Mum who can no longer travel. But we both would love to be there. So, this vid was wonderful. Thank you. Good afternoon, Sinead. I enjoy your tours. But I think that you misspoke when you said that Jane Seymour is buried in The Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula in the Tower of London. I am pretty sure that she was buried in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

I started watching your tours during Covid, starting with your Jack the Ripper tour. My teenage daughter got hooked on your videos as well (I'm from Newry so she says she loves your accent). So after learning so much from your tours, she made the decision to go to go university at Oxford. Her favorite thing to do on weekend is to train into London and try to follow your tours. I'm forever grateful to you for helping my daughter see that university abroad can be a great thing. She is even considering LSE for graduate school - she may never return to our home in Pennsylvania damn you.

If you think this was bad, imagine living in France during the Revolution- where every word that was said may have been reported of you as a traitor to the state! I often wonder just how many people died because of heresay or greed/ jealousy etc of your neighbor. ..
Harry and Meghan are certainly fortunate this is not the sixteenth century or earlier. Those execution statistics are disturbing---129 men and 12 women were executed----now that is deadly sexism! This was completely engrossing. It is commendable that Britain does not hide nor whitewash the brutality of its past. I marvel at the cruelty of people in those days---making executions a spectator sport. It is harrowing to think that this still occurs in places like Saudi Arabia and Iran. Thank you for the tour!
Loved the explanation of the drinking phrases been using them for 60 years without knowing or thinking of the origins, next time someone says "have one for the road" i might just refuse!
Imagine being executed for damaging a rabbit warren! The executioners must have been some very grim fellows----especially carrying out drawn-and-quartering people. I assume that if Jack the Ripper had been caught and convicted, he would have been put to dearh . Fascinating history, Sinead.
High treason, Sedition & Piracy were the last things you could be hung for but even that changed during the 90s. The last Labour government, Jack Straw, Home Secretary at the time revoked those laws. So since then there is no crime that carries the death penalty.
A "High Treason" conviction these days is very unlikely. Even the charge itself has in practice been defunct since the 1980s. Geoffrey Prime of GCHQ was convicted of Espionage and child sex abuse in 1982. He passed a lot of secrets to the Russians. He got 38 years, which is more than murder. He was released in 2001 after half (19 years). He was also put on the sex register. He's still alive. On wartime or technically, Prime could have been charged with High Treason and thus executed. It's unlikely though. Breaking into a Naval Dockyard was punishable by death as recently as the 1980s. I once parked my car outside the Royal Naval Dockyard in Deptford. It was still MoD at the time and surrounded by a high wall. It was high security then. Now, of course it's closed and us open to tourists. Joolz as in Jools Guides has a YT video about Deptford Docks. There's a very bad statue of Peter the Great on site. Tsar Peter visited Deptford when looking for advice about building an Imprrial Rusdian Navy in the 18th century. It's worth a view.

Good afternoon, Sinead. I enjoy your tours. But I think that you misspoke when you said that Jane Seymour is buried in The Chapel Royal of St Peter ad Vincula in the Tower of London. I am pretty sure that she was buried in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

I started watching your tours during Covid, starting with your Jack the Ripper tour. My teenage daughter got hooked on your videos as well (I'm from Newry so she says she loves your accent). So after learning so much from your tours, she made the decision to go to go university at Oxford. Her favorite thing to do on weekend is to train into London and try to follow your tours. I'm forever grateful to you for helping my daughter see that university abroad can be a great thing. She is even considering LSE for graduate school - she may never return to our home in Pennsylvania damn you.

If you think this was bad, imagine living in France during the Revolution- where every word that was said may have been reported of you as a traitor to the state! I often wonder just how many people died because of heresay or greed/ jealousy etc of your neighbor. ..

Harry and Meghan are certainly fortunate this is not the sixteenth century or earlier. Those execution statistics are disturbing---129 men and 12 women were executed----now that is deadly sexism! This was completely engrossing. It is commendable that Britain does not hide nor whitewash the brutality of its past. I marvel at the cruelty of people in those days---making executions a spectator sport. It is harrowing to think that this still occurs in places like Saudi Arabia and Iran. Thank you for the tour!

Imagine being executed for damaging a rabbit warren! The executioners must have been some very grim fellows----especially carrying out drawn-and-quartering people. I assume that if Jack the Ripper had been caught and convicted, he would have been put to dearh . Fascinating history, Sinead.
High treason, Sedition & Piracy were the last things you could be hung for but even that changed during the 90s. The last Labour government, Jack Straw, Home Secretary at the time revoked those laws. So since then there is no crime that carries the death penalty.

A "High Treason" conviction these days is very unlikely. Even the charge itself has in practice been defunct since the 1980s. Geoffrey Prime of GCHQ was convicted of Espionage and child sex abuse in 1982. He passed a lot of secrets to the Russians. He got 38 years, which is more than murder. He was released in 2001 after half (19 years). He was also put on the sex register. He's still alive. On wartime or technically, Prime could have been charged with High Treason and thus executed. It's unlikely though. Breaking into a Naval Dockyard was punishable by death as recently as the 1980s. I once parked my car outside the Royal Naval Dockyard in Deptford. It was still MoD at the time and surrounded by a high wall. It was high security then. Now, of course it's closed and us open to tourists. Joolz as in Jools Guides has a YT video about Deptford Docks. There's a very bad statue of Peter the Great on site. Tsar Peter visited Deptford when looking for advice about building an Imprrial Rusdian Navy in the 18th century. It's worth a view.
