I think it's so impressive that Joel was on red almost the entire season and still managed to make it so close to the end
What’s even more impressive was scar in 3rd life, he was the first death of the entire thing and the first red name. Despite this he was the second one left

Man, Joel's and Grian's last moments are still sad. The two of them calling for each other as they run side by side in the forest, trying to escape while being hunted down. The fact that they got separated and Joel wasn't even there when Grian was shot down. Joel won that fight with Etho only to realise that he was the only one to made it out of that forest alive.
yea. grian didnt even get to make it out "ALIVE"...
Also, keep in mind that the server was accidentally set on Easy difficulty on episodes 1-7, including the wither battle. Which meant mobs and explosions did less damage, and the wither didn't give the wither effect. They fixed it to be on Hard difficulty in episodes 8-9, which includes Etho's creeper death.
Omg imagine if the wither was on hard - I wonder if there’d have been as many episodes?
I think next time they should keep it on normal, or maybe hard with natural health regen on like episodes 8-9 - for pvp based things it is literally impossible to do ANYTHING without natural health regen

@LCKittyQueen I think you've mixed up hardcore and ultrahardcore (UHC). Regular hardcore does have natural regen.
I'm pretty sure you were the only person that started and stayed with two lives, the rest of the yellow names managed to get extra lives through deals and such as the series went on. So the fact that you managed to survive that long with such a disadvantage is amazing! If there's a 3rd season I'm confident you won't be the first out again.

Well, he did briefly get a life during the trust life exercise that the Southlands did, and he did run away with one one time before we was tricked into giving it back

Ngl Joel and Grian's final deaths were kinda depressing. Imagine only being able to watch as your friend is picked off by someone, and you make a last ditch attempt to escape, only to be brutally defeated... Anyway, there's your daily dose of existential dread. 😀
There was no hope for them since it was like a 6v2, the fact that it would be nearly impossible for them to win made me a bit sad :(
Upside they made most of those enemies through their own actions.
Joel put up an impressive fight though, so that was cool.

I would LOVE to see a "DVD commentary" for Last Life, even just one episode. These behind-the-scenes bits are so cool. Impulse's reflection was awesome. I would pay actual money to see a group commentary voiceover from Grian and Joel, or Team BEST, or *any* set of participants from the series really.

Excellent summary couldn't have put it better myself.
That's wasn't Scott and Pearl's base, that was Lizzie's newly built mushroom house in Ren's fort. She set off the trap by breaking the dirt in her doorway, I thought it was on purpose but afterwards she said she hadn't known that dirt block was rigged (so it wasn't just Jimmy who fell for that kind of trap!)...But yes, Joel was a menace in this series.

Scar would have made it if he didn't stop to check his inventory for his bogus "magical crystal". He definitely deserves to be made fun of for that one, especially since the Scottage/3 Gs folks were holding Control to get up and down that tower in like two seconds.

Pearl’s death by a “skeleton” was actually Scar. She used Scar’s enchanter without his permission, so he shot her down the mountain, reducing her to half a heart for the skelly to finish off.

Bdubs killing lizzy wasn't random, he had struck a deal with etho for a life if he killed someone from red team
As far as I know he picked Lizzie at random though.

To explain Scott’s and Martyn’s deaths that confused you
Scott, in trying to go to carrots, accidentally threw and ender pearl and died.
Grian was under and manually activated the trap, blowing up Martyn.
Scott's enderpearl was intentional, he did it to try and get away but it hit a block

A few facts you might enjoy:
The Scott killing Impulse was great because he tried to kill him earlier but failed, and Impulse then went to cool off and work on his trap, just to get killed by Scott.
The confusing death by Scott; He used an Enderpearl, which causes a bit of damage, so he killed himself while trying to run away.
Really too bad about Impulse's nether fall death. He practiced the boat save a lot, even had a macro to do it, but the dam sheild prevented it.
Martyn's death on episode 8 was from Grian pulling a lever to manually detonate the TNT.
I think my favourite kill was Mumbo killing Joel in episode 2 while Joel was trying to kill someone, and then Scar killing Mumbo. The double boogyman was hilarious.
Lastly, an idea, it might be cool if instead of getting sent to spectator you went onto a black life and then you are prevented from doing PVP but you could still chat and hang out.
Or if you would be on black life that you would have to protect people like a guardian angel or something like that 😂
The entire idea is to have the series end and not last too long.

13:04 Joel didn't kill himself - his wife activated the trap (by removing the block or opening the door that triggered the observer) while he just tried to collect his tnt minecarts back as he was caught.
Yep you see it clearly if you watch her POV... she shot the trigger.

Scott's kill on Impulse was clean, but the BEST part of that kill was his first attempt to take out Impulse in the cave, and Impulse just beastmoded out of there like nothing happened. went to fix up his trap for later and the above happened

And then the entire time in between attempts, Scott was so paranoid about running into anyone in case Impulse had told other people who the boogey was. Only to reach the Southlanders base and find Impulse standing precariously at the edge of a pit.
"And you guys have a go at me for drowning in two block deep water" The reason why we don't call up Scar on this is because Scar is known for dying extremely often and in various ways. I have never seen someone die more than he does. You, on the other hand, we like to have faith in that maybe you won't die, especially not in idiotic ways. Misplaced faith, clearly, but there nonetheless.

When scott died, he explained that he tried to eat/regen his health but accidentally threw an ender pearl instead
BigB should have given Cleo one of his lives after her killed her. Then he would still have more lives than if he didn’t kill anyone, and Cleo would have been on the same lives and the whole division of the castle alliance would never have happened

14:34 - This was actually Scott's second attempt to kill Impulse that episode. Earlier Scott lured Impulse into a corner and knocked him around with his sword in a pool of lava. Impulse just barely got away by using an enchanted apple and ender pearl - then just goes back to his tower to work on a trap he was building... great sequence, one of my favorite bits because of the great setup of Scott's initial trap and Impulse actually managing to get out of it.
Jimmy and Tango were soulmates before Double Life... they had the exact same reactions to Tango's death 21:55

I think the best moment in all of last life (and the most likely to seem scripted, even though I know better than that!) was Cleo respawning from her ultimate betrayal death only to be consoled by an invisible Etho in the process of robbing her bedroom. 18 KARAT GOLD.
How would that seem scripted to anyone? It seems like the most accidental thing ever!

Context for Lizzie and Bdubs’ final death:
Lizzie died because Bdubs was promised a life from Etho if he could kill a red. But team red killed him before they could do the command
Bdubs wasn't a boogey bc he was a red life! The remaining non-reds told Bdubs that if he killed one of the reds Etho would give him a life. he did it but then grian and joel immediately killed him :'(
now you have to convince everyone to do a season 3 so you can be there in the finale, 3rd time's the charm haha

Argh, there were so many good deaths this season, it's hard to pick favorites.
When it comes to funny deaths, there's Scott's enderpearl death, lizzie's zombie death, Tango blowing himself up, Martyn getting blown up by Grian, Grian's dog vs Cactus...
But the funniest one has got to be Impulse getting killed by Mumbo from Martyn's POV. he was standing at the bottom below the platform and it's one of the funniest clips I've seen in a long time. Proximity chat truly is a blessing.
And when it comes to interesting deaths from a story perspective...ack, just, so many of them. Yours and Mumbo's death, as well as the attempted boogie kill Martyn tried to get on Grian is super interesting from a character/story point of view, especially in regards to Grian. I also quite like the retcon Martyn made that he killed Grian out of anger over his husband's (he was married to c!mumbo) death.
I also love Cleo getting betrayed and her revenge kill on bigb. Impulse dying unarmed and unprepared in a battle that his only remaining ally started, with barely anyone noticing, was tragic, especially with how sudden it was. Grian's death on the Ghast platform set the tumblr community on fire, especially with Mumbo and Grian's exchange after the fact, which - as an artist (and also a fan of angst) - continues to be one of my favorite moments of the series. Joel getting the rocket kill in honor of Lizzie's attempts at one is also definitely worth a mention. jfhgjkfhg theres just so many good ones!
...One of my favorite ways to go out must have been Grian and Joel though, who died side by side in an unfair battle against almost everyone else left on the server. Outnumbered, they were eventually killed by Scott, but not before taking a couple people to the grave with them.
As for just plain cool, well-executed kills, Martyn and Pearl come to mind. Pearl's dancefloor boogie-kill was _wonderful,_ great foreshadowing from Cleo on that one. She said Pearl was only going to get Ren with it the episode prior and she was correct hahah. And Martyn's kill on Tango was just... _magnificent._ Perfection.
And that wasn't even the first time that Impulse had died to Scott because Scott genuinely (but mistakenly) believed Impulse was a threat. In 3rd Life Scott and Scar stormed Dogwarts while Impulse was there as a mole, not knowing he was a mole. Then in Scott's POV of the Wither fight he sees a red-name on the wall of the snow fort shooting at him (I think that was Grian). He turns to hit the Wither again, more arrows fly, and Scott turns back to the snow fort to shoot back at the red-name he saw--except he didn't realize that it was a different person and that Impulse hadn't been shooting.
I wonder how things would go with smaller teams, cuz people got a big disadvantage when it comes to certain scenarios

Scott didn’t die from fall damage he was trying to eat and accidentally threw an ender pearl at the ground and died
15:10 When Smajor died, he hit the ground too hard because he tried to use an ender pearl. Also, when Etho and others started dying to mobs, it was because around that time they realized that it wasn’t on the right difficulty so they made it more difficult so everybody started to die a bit easier.
Just to do the math (excluding Tango because he did it to himself. Martyn could technically also be there but he only died because Scott overpowered him), every permanent death was caused by:
Bdubs: 6.67%
Cleo: 6.67%
Joel: 13.33%
Grian: 20%
Ren: 20%
Scott: 33.33%
Ofc, a lot of it is purely because Joel was bloodthirsty the entire time, but these are the stats ✨
2 for 2 jimmy, let’s see if you can get 3 for 3 if there’s a third series :D

It probably will happen though. Grian was asking whether or not people wanted a third season and if he's basing it off of whether or not people want another one then it is for sure happening, cause it's a very popular series.

true, but the trap didn't work. Jimmy was just out of his mind and decided that he want to stand on the TNT Minecarts hence causing 3 deaths.
Honestly all of tangos deaths were the most hilarious thing I have watched like each death I was laughing hysterically at for like 5 minutes

After a while and rewatching this I never realized how much of a menace Grian became in the later part of the series
the funny thing with scar drowning is if he hadn't opened his inventory or tried to break a block he would have made it
The best part of Scars drowning was one of them saying "I guarantee he's just tried to float up that elevator instead of swimming up" which was EXACTLY RIGHT lol
Just so you know, Bdubs killing lizzie wasn't because he was a bogeyman. It's because Etho promised him a life if he killed a red, but when it said lizzie fell from a high place, they didn't know it was Bdubs and waited too long to give him a life
"Too long" being about five seconds, because Grian immediately went after him.
The thing about Joel is he got to red so quick so the boogie man couldn’t kill him and there wasn’t another red to kill him so that’s why he made it so long

Honestly the highlight of the series for me was the chaos in magical mountain with Joel, Scar and the Southlanders in episode 2.
Poor, poor Tango. Lost his last life to his own trap he was in the process of building. RIGHT after saying "I'm a professional." Oooof. And Martyn's explosive death among the cacti was Grian underground with a switch, waiting for somebody to walk over the TNT he'd buried. She tricked them all into going into that room with the distraction of a jukebox and some good dance music, then shut the door behind them and flipped the switch, dropping a bunch of TNT on them. **chef's kiss** Perfection.

Jimmy you were great.. you lasted on just two lives for a long time. Joel was brilliant. He was the perfect red name. If the level had been on hard I am sure a lot more of his traps would have worked.

Etho was very sad after that, because his friend and longest ally died and he didn’t save him
