That’s not what happened. The animatronics were very cutting edge at the time and expensive. And while they made them in mind to be water resistant and last a long time, they inevitably would lose functionality as they operated every day for years out in open air and weather. And fixing them was all the more expensive as time went on, and usually was worth little return. So they kind of just decayed in quality as the ride aged.

I could pretend like it was maybe a large cage equipped with full on cliffs and trees ... but it just didn't make as much sense to put it there.

I remember riding this in 97 back when I was in middle school. It was a rainy day too, so the Lagoon scene was so beautiful. I rode it in 99, was 11, in my memory it was perfect, like being in the movie. Rode it again in 2015, it felt like half the dinosaur were missing or bad animatronics, and the car was falling way too slowly. Until today I thought my child memory had embellish the ride, when it fact, it was just better in it's early days. Really glad I had that experience. I also have no hype for the new version.
I was barely a year old being born in 96, and even I know that the 97 Jurassic Park ride is something I'd want to travel back to the past and experience, like come on now lol
New one is wack. Old one was horrifying. I went when it was new back when I was like 6, and almost fell out the boat on the drop right after a T-rex tried to eat me. One of the most traumatic experiences in my life. Best theme park attraction ever! 10/10 would almost die again.
The Rexy at the end in the 1997 version... Oh my gosh the strips on it's nose! That is by far the coolest dinosaur paint ever, and I thought that I liked the movie's paint scheme.
I think that the animatronic of the 1997 version are more scary because they are fast and we didn’t se them comming just look like the dimetrodons / and the colors of the final t-rex are more scary than the brown one / and i love the falling car / Thank you for this video 😍

I rode the JP ride in 2017. After years & years & years of wanting to ride it, I eventually did. For a brief moment I was a kid again. It was the most amazing ride experience of my life, I was so used to seeing it on TH-cam but to actually experience it? Pure magic. A year later they destroyed it. If I went to LA one year too late, I would’ve missed my chance & would’ve been absolutely gutted beyond words
Love how they exchanged the animatronic dinosaurs to tv-screens... Well, it actually fits the ride good since they pretty much ONLY used CGI (and bad cgi...) in JW instead of animatronics due to JP were almost everything were dolls, suits and animatronics.
What’s insane is that even though my only experience of the ride was in 2018 (when everything was pretty broken), the structure and story of the ride still held up...and the T-Rex at the end remained terrifying. I came in with no expectations and even the half-working ride blew me away.
I had the opportunity to enjoy the 1997 (in 2001) and 2009 (in 2010) rides and I just remember how terrified I was in the first one (it felt very realistic). Now I see the JW remode and felt sad, they just put a lot of neon colors, took out the items that located you in a jungle and bc of that you can notice even more that are animatronics, all those "scenography" that it used to have was what really transported you to the Jurassic world :(
OMG thanks for this! Not only is the sound quality decent, but the comparison overlay is just perfect to really study and experience this ride. I hope you'll add in a fifth screen with the newest renovation with the epic Irex attacks now?!
While the split audio was driving me insane (I get why you did it that way, my brain just couldn't process it all lol) this is a really cool side by side (by side by side?) View of how this ride evolved.
Man I wish I was born years before 1997 so I could witness the ride in it's glory days. Oh and the building section looks way darker and has more smoke in the 97 version then the newer versions
I heard they're gonna add more to the Jurassic world ride so it's not entirely finished. Reccently the side dinosuar at around 5:06 near the trex has been removed so its just the trex roaring for now.
Wow 1997 >>> … taking out the little guys fighting over the popcorn, the dropping Ford, the dude popping up out the water for a quick startle, and removing the other yellow damaged boat were all stupid ideas. So glad I got to experience the original ride
I really understand they tried to upgrade all this stuff and scenery but I also think they killed vibe of jungle and anxiety what is coming next.I remember when I was small and scared of alarm sounds and jumpscares. Now I think this ride is too „family friendly” 😕
I love the addition of the Enominus in the new version. I rode this in all the years listed except this year. I still think the ride looked so much better in the 90’s then anytime in the 2000’s. The animatronics were more active and the colors of the dinosaurs looked more realistic. I think this update looks amazing though and can’t wait to see it after the pandemic! 🦖❤️
I want the old ride back, it's actually terrifying and surprisingly the animatronics are quite fluid of 1997. This might also be because I personally prefer the older movies more too. But as long as people still enjoy the altered ride
Thank you for putting these vids together. It really showcases how beautifully well made this shit was back in the day. I went on this ride in 2005 and remember being so scared at the end. For some reason, we were at the drop for a longer period of time and the count down didn’t start right away, which made it 10x scarier. The roar was so loud and in your face, it shattered my 6 year old mind. I cried like a bitch 😂
I’m very happy with the new indoor animatronics. The indominus (not shown in video) is very impressive. It’s a shame that they couldn’t improve on the rides outdoor animatronics. I understand having the dinosaurs outside or in water is a lot of maintenance but unfortunately now theres so bare and boring sections to the attraction. Also I would’ve liked them to make the velociraptors and dilophosaurus scary again with its fast movements.
I distinctly remember riding this in....I believe it was 05, then again in 09. I remember how beautiful everything was in 05, but by 09 it looked like it did in the video. I can only imagine how bad it was in real life by 2018.
It’s crazy how much better the original ride was. Even the Dino that popped out of the water had quicker more aggressive movements, instead of just slowly turning its head while spitting out water lol
the weird one Yes. This morning Universal Studios Hollywood’s TH-cam channel posted a behind the scenes video on the Jurassic World ride. You can see in the video a full Indominus Rex on a screen, and footage of its claws being worked on.
With the new animatronic that was recently placed in the ride, i’m not going to lie, i’d love to ride it but purely for the animatronic. Tbh, i’d be more stoked for the velocicoaster then i’d be for the first parts of the boat ride. Maybe the mosa part would be cool but then it’s just plain nothing until the big scenes with the giant indominus rex and trex animatronics.
The 1997 one is so much better do to the sole fact that the lighting is amazing. Its darker and grimmer so you cant see the stuff that the animatronics are rigged to. I dont know if its just the quality of the camera, but its so bright in all the other 3 rides, not to mention the animatronics are definitely aging and not being taken care of.

Wow that's a jump scare from '97 that was straight up omitted from the ride
Love how they exchanged the animatronic dinosaurs to tv-screens...
Well, it actually fits the ride good since they pretty much ONLY used CGI (and bad cgi...) in JW instead of animatronics due to JP were almost everything were dolls, suits and animatronics.
Yep.
I was in this rollercoaster in 1991 and it was already! This one should be a monument for Universal
The was really cool. I think 2009 was the best year for that ride.
I remember the first time on the 97 version when i was a kid.... That t-rex at the end scared the shit out of me
What’s insane is that even though my only experience of the ride was in 2018 (when everything was pretty broken), the structure and story of the ride still held up...and the T-Rex at the end remained terrifying. I came in with no expectations and even the half-working ride blew me away.
4:57 love how you said “I love you mom” 😍🤣 felt that
The 1997 ride has 2 videos just scene it but this is truly amazing keep the videos coming I love them and for me it brings back memories
I had the opportunity to enjoy the 1997 (in 2001) and 2009 (in 2010) rides and I just remember how terrified I was in the first one (it felt very realistic). Now I see the JW remode and felt sad, they just put a lot of neon colors, took out the items that located you in a jungle and bc of that you can notice even more that are animatronics, all those "scenography" that it used to have was what really transported you to the Jurassic world :(
1997: I believe it is really awesome. 2019: just so - so
1997: Amazing 2009: Very Amazing 2018: Cool ,but not amazing 2019: The beautiful park is destroyed
1997, the best version period.
4:58 “I LOVE YOU MOM!!”💀💀💀
OMG thanks for this! Not only is the sound quality decent, but the comparison overlay is just perfect to really study and experience this ride. I hope you'll add in a fifth screen with the newest renovation with the epic Irex attacks now?!
While the split audio was driving me insane (I get why you did it that way, my brain just couldn't process it all lol) this is a really cool side by side (by side by side?) View of how this ride evolved.
1997: focused on full immersion, and magic; 2019: focused on easy maintenance, and efficiency
Wow I remember the Jurassic Park ride as a child! It scared the shit out of me! The truck was what really did me in! I forgot all about this!!
Even with the new ending of the Jurassic World Ride, it can never top the Jurassic Park ride
True
Look how smooth and fast were the dilophosaurus!!
Okay... I'm now remembering why this ride freaked me out as a kid and not as an adult because the version I went on (1997) was the best.
Nothing beats the orginal "Welcome to jurrasic park"
Yo, dude. It will NEVER replace the Welcome to Jurasssic Park line from John Hammond.
DINO POWER!! 🦖 SheRexGram here saying Hello and Liking your awesome content! 🦕 🦖
Man I wish I was born years before 1997 so I could witness the ride in it's glory days.
Oh and the building section looks way darker and has more smoke in the 97 version then the newer versions
2018, That first dino looks like he's begging for a mercy killing.
I heard they're gonna add more to the Jurassic world ride so it's not entirely finished. Reccently the side dinosuar at around 5:06 near the trex has been removed so its just the trex roaring for now.
I rode the original version as a toddler and it was one of my fondest memories. I shed a tear right now.
I loved the Jurassic Park attraction because it looked like a dinosaur version of the Jungle Cruise!
YES! featuring tension and an epic drop at the end :D
@@AwesomeJediE A drop with a tyrannosaurus rex? Heck yeah!
I want the old ride back, it's actually terrifying and surprisingly the animatronics are quite fluid of 1997. This might also be because I personally prefer the older movies more too. But as long as people still enjoy the altered ride
this just gave me so much nostalgia
Perfect version 97💚
amazing video
It’s evolving, just backwards
Edit: the 2021 update to the ride was a bit of a upgrade at least
How is something almost 20 years older, look BETTER than something newer
Woah woah woah the 97 T. rex has stripes !?! That must be awesome
Do you think the rumors are true that the ride is still unfinished?
the weird one Yes. This morning Universal Studios Hollywood’s TH-cam channel posted a behind the scenes video on the Jurassic World ride. You can see in the video a full Indominus Rex on a screen, and footage of its claws being worked on.
@@AwesomeJediE I hope they can add new dinosaurs as well
@@theweirdone242 welp seems like it was, it's currently on refurbishment and it's not even been a full year since it opened

Yea it was, the 2021 one looks so much better
Love this video, would you make another video comparing 2019 and 2021 versions of jurassic world?.
'97 version was how I remembered it from my 2005 trip! My favorite version!! Just went on the ride in 2022, and was sad at how different it was.
Look at how amazing the animatronics looked brand new. Almost better than they act today!
Glad to see I’m not the only one that saw the 97 version was the best animatronics. Such fluidity and more lifelike colors. The newer ones suck.
My favorites probably from the 2009 because the effect of the Jeep falling down is pretty cool
Imma be honest the Jurassic park the ride just gives me so much nostalgia
this is one of the most entertaining videos I have ever seen OMG!!!
