Message from NoKi1119's (timestamp guy) community post on his channel:
Not sure if I can do timestamps after this WAN Show anymore.
I've been hitting the monthly network bandwidth every two WAN Shows. Both TH-cam and Twitch are buffering regardless of quality chosen, and FP streams at the highest quality your network can handle. Seconds of buffering desyncronize the stopwatch I use to line up the timecodes properly, forcing me to go back and re-write them again only after VOD releases, letting me do double the work by waiting potentially hours to correct all the misaligned timecodes.
Still funny reading all the "but you can use AI with your data/why won't LMG hire someone to do it over the weekend" comments when it takes as long as the show or, at times, double it or even multiple days throughout sessions to write every one of these chapters. It's all manual, folks. I could wait for after the VOD releases and then start doing the timestamps, but I made everyone have the unrealistic expectation of immediately available timestamps as soon as the stream finished - past me set the bar higher than I can reach, haha.
I'm doing these while half asleep at 2-8 AM on a broken PC/phone with a limited bandwidth. I've been doing this for as long as I can because I loved doing it, it gave me a reason to go online more often. I'm grateful for every comment under my timestamps, each one of them made me smile. I tried retiring in the past, and yet I'm still doing it - hopefully I can find a way to solve this issue so I'm not forced to retire once more.
See you later today or tomorrow whenever I make the timestamps. Until then.

LTT needs to help you, even hire you. I’m one of many that just won’t watch WAN show without what you do. In the meantime, you can download the entire stream itself once it’s concluded using yt-dlc at whatever res and quality you want, you can then use VLC to watch it locally at whatever speed you want, no buffering needed.

24:36 no, testing fringe brands is one of the most important things you can do! If you test these "noone's buying" brands and it turns out to be really really good, then people will start buying it and it will put downward price pressure on the popular brands. People are going to buy the well known brands because, the vast majority of the time, they won't suck. People don't buy "noone's buying" brands because there's no history, we don't know if they suck, and this is where you can use your platform to seed the public consciousness!

I understand what Linus is saying about avoiding Nestlé products due to their horrible practices. However, it’s quite different from avoiding Prime because of Logan Paul. Nestlé is involved in so many products and markets that it’s hard to avoid them entirely. They own a lot of brands and have taken over many essential items that people use daily. On the other hand, it’s much easier to simply not buy Prime.

If you are creating a hardware reliability wiki, that is valuable if it's as complete as possible. What Luke is concerned with, from what it sounds like, is that doing scattershot at random crap will not be productive. Nobody will care- BUT! If you have some random guy looking at stock on amazon, and he can cross reference your site to see if it sucks or not- that is in fact more valuable than spiked user reviews. And you will need more than 3 people to do this. What you are talking about is creating a tech consumer reports that doesn't suck. Charles Stross wrote a book a decade or so ago where one of the major characters was a DI in a small little police task force who's job was to go through that stuff searching for crimes to hand off to other departments if they'd found the crime had happened in the UK. Or passing it onto other similar departments around the globe if they figured out it happened under their jurisdiction. The group couldn't get more people because everyone quit. The London police force moved them out to their own little building so people passing by didn't have to see what was on their monitors. No one came to their little building for any reason. An entire department of pariahs because what they handled was too much for even the police to deal with on a regular basis.
Then I found out that was based on fact. That really is a little bit how those departments work in the real world. Not even grizzled law enforcement who've had to walk into bad scenes for real are willing to work in those departments. The amount of it is just too much. It takes a very specific type of person.

Laptops are one of those things where preferences are a huge factor. It's not like testing a CPU or GPU and saying that objectively it performs in X application with Y performance numbers. I love my FW13 especially after I upgraded to a Ryzen 7, but I recognize that it isn't for everyone. Most people aren't going to want to open it up and upgrade the board no matter how easy it is. Some people consider OLED panels a must have. Some people want more GPU power, touch screens, etc. Most people don't care that it works great in Linux. And sure the FW16 has more powerful GPU options but that is a very expensive laptop. That said, most would have to admit that it is a good thing that it can be disassembled and serviced with parts readily available, and that the entire industry should move in that direction. seemingly it's not only the new architecture, it seems all ryzen cpus (or at the very least zen4 and zen5) are profiting from the update.
that doesn't make it not MS' fault though.
BUT AMD seems to not have tested that strange way before, because their numbers in the review guides usually weren't off that much from what reviewers saw (in the same games). that being said the last few refreshed zen3 cpus had a similar discrepancy. and thus not having figured it out earlier is on AMD.

Hi Linus (and Dan and Luke). I wanted to maybe ask if you would consider revising your Secretlab sponsorship?
