I came home from work one day, and immediately noticed one of my boys, Jasper, was holding one of his eyes closed. One quick look and I knew he had eye poke. Thanks to Saskia, I knew what to do. Gave him some CBD for any pain, was able to grasp it since a part of the hay was sticking out and followed up with Teramyacin. Within two days, his eye was all better. Because of you, I didn’t panic and felt really confident that I knew how to fix it. Thank you for all the informative information, and Jasper thanks you, too!

My guinea pig had a piece of hay wrapped around her eyeball. We took her to the vet as soon as we noticed something was wrong. I don’t understand how people can leave these injuries to get so infected, making it more painful and hard to treat. Amazing transformation! Thank you for all you and your team do xoxo
Saskia, there is a special place in Heaven for you. Most people would have euthanized the poor little guy. But, you chose to do the "hard thing", and help him.
I wonder how long it took to get to that stage and how long before the owners decided to do something about it.

I don’t think that many people appreciate how lovely and darling guinea pigs are. I have three. One, Dolly, is six now and I recently adopted two that were rescued from a hoarding situation. Dolly lost her companion this year and I just don’t think they should be without company. So now we have Reba and Bean. Thank you for all you do for these sweet babies.

Seeing this makes me wonder if the vet was telling the truth when he told us our only option was to remove my sweet Walter’s eye :( his definitely did not look as bad as Gunnar’s!
If he looked less bad than Gunner than an eye removal likely would not have been needed. 🌻
The vet may not have been actively lying. He might just not have the experience with piggies that Saskia does.
@@LaynieFingers a lot of vets don’t have a lof of experience with guinea pigs. My vet told me nothing was wrong with my guinea pig when his heart was beating out of tempo, and a few days later he died

it's heartbreaking how most vets don't know anything about guinea pigs. i just lost one of my boys because i was told that he had to have surgery to remove a bladder stone, but when they opened him up it was just crystals. he suddenly died after 2 weeks. stitches were out, he finished his antibiotics. i don't know what happened. thank you for helping all these piggies.

Amazing work Saskia! In my experience, unless they have specialised experience with piggies, most vets would opt for enucleation surgery. It's great to see you sparing guinea pigs from surgery wherever possible :)

How does a guinea pig's eye get that bad? If pus is on the inside, then something must have punctured his eye. Poor baby!
He got into a fight with his buddy which cut the top of the lid and scratched the cornea. He's doing much better now 😊

When i found my pig "Chevy" he had the same type of eye problem. I couldnt afford $200 to take to the vet. But me and my kids couldnt just turn him away. I did some asking' well ALOT of asking and found the local Rural King had an ountment called Terramycin for $20. So thought we would give it a try and after about 2 weeks his eye looks amazing. Thank you so much for makimg this video. Wish it was made 3 momths ago.lol Great video

I'm so glad I cam across this video. My guineapig had a terrible scratch and it got way worse after anti biotic and eye gel. They wanted to euthanize him or take his eye out. After terramycin, optic gel, flupiprophen, and oflaxcicin his eye looks 50 % better, we still have a ways to go but we are getting there!!
my guinea pig hammy had his eye scratched open once by my cat, i walked away for a second and when i came back his eye had a weird line on it, we took him to the vet immediately and started treatment, im so glad we did because we probably couldnt have saved his eye if we didnt

Yes that guinea pig can be fixed 💗
