Saskia, this works! We are on day 12 of treating one of our piggies with this method from your web site, and you’ve saved the day again! After a vet visit for X-rays, antibiotics, pain killers and a $50 laser treatment our piggy was no better. We switched to your method with the soaks and Manuka Honey wrap for the past 12 days. The open sore is completely healed and the swelling has gone down by more than half. We cannot thank you enough! PS, do you have the link to the CBD? Couldn’t find it on your website.

My guniea pig was 7 when he passed away. He got bumble foot on both his front paws. He passed away in 2012, I wish I knew about this back then. He was full of life before he passed
Rest in peace. 7 is a good age for piggies.
Manuka honey comes from New Zealand. Our doctors here also use it in hospitals to promote new tissue growth. It’s the most amazing honey and helps with a lot of different ailments. I’m so pleased to see you using it too 😊
Poor baby. I'm a CVT and usually wrapping the paw above and below the joint helps to stabilize the paw and keep the bandage in place. Good luck to this sweet baby!

I was the owner of shadow Blue. She was my world. Till this day it haunts me how her paw was. I busted my self getting at the rescue. Living in South Los Angeles and dont drive. Took me 2 hours to get there. Long story short after 2 months of non stop helping her. My almost 7 year piggie passed away in my arms. I got her cremated. 😭💔
I noticed when they have arthritis and don’t move a lot they tend to get it too..good luck sweetie

My girls Salt and Pepper before they came to me, had been living on a wire bottomed pen. The was included with Salt and Pepper. The 1st thing I did was rip that wire off.

@@CavyConsciousness, I politely pointed that out to Salt and Peppers' previous owners. My babies were very lucky they didn't get bumblefoot. They have gone from being timid girls to girls who now come to the side of the pen for nose scratches and they enjoy cuddles.

Hi Saskia, I love your videos. I wanted to tell you I was watching the Dr. K tv show. She was treating a chronic case of bumble foot. She created a “boot cage” out of a mesh cast material. It hardened to make like a high heel bootie. The material didn’t touch the damaged tissue but allowed the air to get to it and also made it so the animal wasn’t stepping directly on the foot. The boot cage was touching the ground only. Just thought I would let you know. It seemed like an interesting idea. Keep up the great work. Your big heart warms my heart.

I've personally never seen bumblefoot on piggies. Since their paws are so, so tiny, it can apparently do a LOT of damage. 😱 It's pretty common in chickens, but it usually doesn't cause so much destruction to the nearby tissue. Poor girl. I hope she's able to recover, because she could still have a good few years left!

It's almost definitely not something you want to do at home, but I know bumblefoot in chickens is usually scraped completely out and then treated with anything antimicrobial, and wrapped to prevent any secondary infection. It's not a gentle process, but if you want it gone, permanently, you definitely have to scrape it all out. 😭
i have done and dealt with dressing changes for more than 20yrs and can say you did very well! washing with the saline(to clean) first then inadine coating(for antibacterial and prevent infection) then topical (the heal)is the route best to go....which you pretty much did. This video was very satisfying! I am sure this lil piggy will wheek all the way home quickly :)

i didnt know it sticks around most of the time, one of my older boys got a mild case so i soaked his foot in epsom salt baths for 10 mins every day for about 2-3 weeks. i also used a little Neosporin after every soak and it cleared up completely! the only thing that’s there is a scar and a little stretched skin :)

Thank you for your concerned of Shadow Blue. I was the owner. Sadly to say. She passed away 2 months later. Doing non stop with the instructions in this video and with antibiotics, her almost 7 year old heart gave out. Till this day, it haunts me how badly her paw was. I had her since she was around 3 months old. I miss her everyday and. When I can bare it, I see her videos and tons and tons of photos.

I know this is an older video but I've just came across them so I'm binge watching to catch up.
I was just wondering if bumble foot could be from diabetes. You said once they get bumble foot it can become a chronic issue. That was what made me think of diabetes as a possibility. Also those cysts you see, the ones full of that grey or yellow smelly liquid puss (no chunks) is another huge diabetic flag.
I feel like there hasn't been enough or at least updated researcher done on the guinea pig. If Dogs and other animals can get diabetes I bet Guinea pigs can too. Anyway it was just a thought.
It would be interesting to know if those piggys did turn out to be diabetic.
Very late response, but I just saw this video. Bumblefeet are a secondary infection to another disease or infection, so it could be from diabetes, but also from a number of other things. There definitely needs to be more research on them and on how to treat them well.

Hi Saskia I messaged you a while ago about one of my piggies had bumble foot. And I watched one of your videos and I treated it at home it's going away slowly now, I used the beterdin to soak and a tiny bit of the beterdin ointment and wrap her pore just like on your video, with the help of my dear husband 😍💖 so ja she really is looking better, the only thing I'm struggling to find is the manuca honey. But if I do get it I will let u know, just to have it in my piggies medication box. Lots of love Saskia 💖💖💖

For my piggie Tiny that's her name, I just use betterdin with water to clean her paw, and then a little bit of the ointment then wrap it she is better now but it took a while to go away, oh! Where can you buy the non stick pads? (I’m in Canada) I have two skinny’s with bumble foot. Went to the vet today but nothing was said about wrapping their feet but I think it’s a good idea

Could you do a video on swallowing foreign objects? Or just tell me has this happened and how you treated it. My Iris bit off the syringe tip and swallowed it!! I am usually quick enough to get it out with my finger but I failed. I gave her some infant gas drops for pain and CBD. What else could help? Guinea Lynx was divided on the use of mineral oil. Peter Gurney used it. I haven’t yet.

Update on her, i was her owner and after a long journey going 32 miles in 2 trains and bus, endless of hours no sleep, doing the best i can, over 2 months she passed away in my arms. She was a fighter. 9 hours before she pass she walked on my chest to lay next to me. She struggled, but still managed. Still over 5 months later, im still hear broken, miserable, depressed. I miss her like crazy.
I have a very old guinea pig who is over six she does not move around very much and i keep trying to move her about. I am trying to heal her bumblefoot. I found your video very helpful. Could you please advise the stregth of cbd cream you used.

Hey Saskia. I took my two Guinea pigs to your rescue and got them a bor cleaning and a health check. They said that one of my Guinea pigs was malnourished and ever since I got him he has been. I've been feeding them healthy veggies, pelits, and giving them the liquid vitamin c, but nothing is making him gain weight so I think he has worms, can you look at their waste to see if there is worms in it or no?

Hello, I have the same problem with my guinea pig, she already has a scab and sometimes it breaks and there is a bit of blood (cca. 1-2drops :/ ) I clean it with Betadine and antibiotic ointment but she always wipes it off and i dont know if something stays there.
Do you think that I would be able to tie her leg? I'm afraid she might bite the bandage because she's not used to it...

My guineapig has red feet what does that mean?
I can't get my piggie to sit still long enough to wrap his paws, and when I do he wiggles before I can wrap the tape on. Will it work if I just put the creams without wrapping.
I can't keep the wraps on my piggy's feet. So I'm cleaning her feet and the cage constantly and using the creams.

Aww. Thank you. I'm very embarrassed to say. I'm Shadows owner. But yes she is 6 years old. Got her oct 19, 2013 :) I was shy and embarrassed to ask Saskia about making a TH-cam video about her leg. Also for educational. I do not wish this on anyone. I feel awful as it is. And I'm doing all I can to make her feel better and she's happy. I'll see Saskia pretty soon for an update

I mean it’s part of a guinea pig life some piggies get it and some don’t the only thing would be not cleaning her cage which they fill with poops and that gave the piggy her infection. And good to hear she’ll be going back to her for an update!! Cheer up and think that it won’t longer hurt your piggy front leg!!! ☺️🙏🏻
Edit- about the age, she does look like a baby probably because of her hair and well she’s also small so that gives in to her!! 😂 I got mine recently and well I might not share pains with you but I do get worried about them not just mine but all the piggies with problems! 😔

Yes she was my baby. My Shadow blue was loved by many. Sadly she passed 2 months later. Her paw was looking better but with all the medication and antibiotics she was on, her small heart couldn't bare it. I slepted with her everyday. I got her cremated

Saskia.. are “spurs” the same as bumblefoot? I’m usually quite good about trimming my boys nails. Today I noticed a “spur” (long hard thing) sticking out of his foot on both front feet. I trimmed them off. How do you treat these “spurs”? Once I trimmed them off he felt much better. Can you help me please?
That isn't the same. I think spurs just happen. Kind of like a callous. Just trim carefully so you don't cut too far down.

To help with bubble foot, look at videos of chicken bubble foot!

She was using Betadine. You can find it in the medicine isle anywhere make sure you dilute it for the soak
Wire cage bottom is not good for there paws also.
My guinea pig really don't want me to wrap her paw :( I'm trying to do it everyday for a week now and I'm still not able to wrap it ! :( I don't know what to do! She has yellow scab on her front paw :( I don't want her to become like this one in the video ! What should I do? Please!

How often should you soak her foot?
2 daily and then once daily once the skin is closed and the foot shrinking.
Almost like a club foot.

So today I noticed a wide, flat lump by my guinea pig' s side. Its feels fatty, but I don't know. DO you know what it could be? I don't want to take her all the way to the vet if nothing's wrong. please help!!!!!!!!!
Watch it closely and if it grows at all then best to go see vet. May be sebaceous cyst
