What lovely little storage pockets! I was searching for a more utilitarian BIG OLE storage pocket version today.( Wanting a refreshing course ahead of my sitting down to finish my 56" long single row 8" deep pocket version for attaching to front storage box of a jack knife sofa in an RV renovation project. This is almost the last sewing project to complete the year and half project.) Your little gem popped up and oh my I love it. I tend to make up things without patterns perse. Like you I work out all the details in advance. I'm usually great at seeing the bigger picture and applying what steps are needed to succeed. But when it's a new thing I've never made before a little encouragement from TH-cam lovely people is appreciated. You project is a lot more fussy than my big ole version. For example no binding needed. I double layered the back base support cutting one long 25" by 58" piece out. Fold in half length wise and turn having left about an 8" opening that will be finished closed when I top stitch around the entire piece. The pockets are made in similar two layer fashion. I started with double the length and 10", I changed that to 9" because the sofa seat cushions extend 3-4 inches out beyond the box the storage unit will be velcro attached too. (I designed the entire box and item last year so it's now a full year around this Oct. There's two 1.5" rows of loop velcro on the marine canvas that covers all sides of the box storage under the sofa. And I added Loop velcro for outside the box because Loop Velcro does not catch or collect debri like hair and thread and bits like hook does. Also won't grab a long skirt or pants leg or throw blanket etc and stick to it. I also added around the inside board that also had a sleeve of fabric another 1.5" loop of velcro around the entire inside. So that's a box roughly 30" by 74" and now I can make all the pockets in any size or bags to slip into the box but keep them in a location attached to the side of the box not lost into a jumbled mix of bigger items like lawn chairs and tent/screen house and tables. But the outside has the double run of velcro strips. And my base piece already sewn is ready and it's hook velcro is attached. Now comes the part to sew the run of pocket material onto the base piece to complete the entire project. I had watched a video where their rule of thumb was doubling the fabric and making the pocket gussets full length by meeting a fold in the middle from both sides of the pocket. However I double checked the other day and realized this will be too big a gap and not needed for even my husbands size shoes. (Which I don't intend to use for shoes but for a few cleaning supplies like window cleaner and all purpose cleaners and microfiber dusting rags etc. And on the end another large pocket just for a large road atlas. But some of the other pockets for maps. So I do not want them to gap out empty or full too far where your foot would snag them all the time. I may add a few buttons and loops to keep them closed when not in use. For anyone who has not worked with this kind of velcro saturated project if you use quality velcro and it's sewn not glued in place it'll hold and hold extremely well. Wind and accidental run in with feet or items being brushed against it roughly will not remove it or loosen it even. (12 years ago I made an insert for a bicycle wagon that was quite complicated and removes and folds up when not in use like the wagon it was made for. The amazing thing is it's bear trying to pull all the parts apart to store away and no wind will grab the lid and take it off and leave the contents exposed. NO WAY! Because of that I designed the lid with a half way double zipper entrance across and also allows me to lift half the lid to get intside pretty much to access all and everything. I also designed the sides and the bottom of that with loop velcro too so again I could add velcro straps and pockets or small bags to hold maps and snacks and anything that one might want or need to locate and not have to rummage through the main part of the wagons contents. Also this allowed me to add diviiders too either direction as needed.) I recognize how much work and heart you put into developing your patterns and a wonderful job demonstrating how to calmly put these together. Much appreciated your share. Kudo's and happy crafting...everyone. Think outside the box and color outside the lines but do so with safety in mind. PS and a Huge PS shout out for your mentioning problems some of us have with weak wrists and hands. I was born with a defect to right hand that's not noted by most but left me semi both handed which has its limits where now my left hand suffers from extreme pain with tendinitis because I lean on it far too much to make up the missing muscles in the palm of my right. And both wrists just literally blow out on me some days. My mother gifted me with a pair of electric scissors when I was 14 that were marvelous. Until they broke down when I was 20 and no longer made and no other battery or electric versions ever worked out. I understand figuring out short cuts and methods to make the job easier like you folding up the fabric to be cut strips out quicker and easier. Taking the time to explain to trim the edges if not even also Kudo's to you.

I am so happy this project inspired you. It's lovely to hear from someone who also enjoys experimenting with fabric and figuring things out! Your projects sound fabulous.
