the video description is completely against of what Kraviz said from minute 3:06. I don't understand what is the point of that description? dramatise the scene? Journalism is dead
I have so much respect for this artist, you can tell she has worked very hard to get where she is. I'm fascinated by her artistic expression, she has her own way to play, she really knows how to put her emotions in her sets, you never really know where she's gonna bring you, she can be trippy acid or experimental, housy, minimal and so on. what i like about her sets, there is Space... It's not always Bang bang bang bang, it's fluid and extatic. A few times, I have to admit that I had tears looking at her playing not only because I like her but because she got talent. Thank you Nina to show the path. You are a real artist, you deserve respect. Women deserve to be seen in the industry.
She touches on the subject of 'favouritism' a bit here where women may be given priority over males that might be more talented. Nina is a big name in Techno, she probably has more followers than Juan Atkins, Kevin Saunderson and Derrick May put together. I wonder why?! So when you see attractive females speak about being 'up against the odds' it's hard to find truth in that. If you look at the Boiler Room Facebook page, they're really pushing the female dj's at the moment. Equality seems to be more important than talent. No, I'm not saying women are less talented, there's been loads of great female musicians but I do think there is vastly more young males producing electronic music in their bedrooms and mixing records than women but women want 'equality of outcome' where booking figures are equal regardless of percentages who are actually producing music for the love of it. Go to an electronic music equipment store and find out what percentage of synthesisers and drum machines are bought by women, that'll give you a good insight into how many women are genuinely into it.
You've identified the problem yourself - calling Nina an 'attractive female', as you did, reduces her to the way she looks, or at best it says she has got to where she is because of her looks.. Regarding the number of women or men interested in electronic music. What do you expect young women to think when they go to events or watch sets on here and every dj is a man? Of course they will get the idea that DJing and producing is just for men and won't get into it. Thats why representation is important.
She is an incredibly attractive female and being good looking is definitely advantageous. She is genuine but her addition to the scene is small compared to males who have a much smaller following. Take a DJ / producer like Robert Hood for example. Or Steve Rachmad, Vince Watson, Stacey Pullen... etc. they have a fraction of the hype of NK though they've been top producers for well over a quarter of a century. In regards to percentages, theres always been female DJ's, just because mostly men do it doesn't mean women would be put off though they're genuinely interested. Are men interested in being care workers put off because over 90% of care workers are women? not really.
Hugh - hmmm i wonder why a new DJ who plays impressive performances all around the world is more popular than a list of guys who did cool things 25 years ago? 🤔🤔🤔 dont be naive to think the market adheres to some magical logic of talent or looks, its chaotic, and the fact is that the top-top DJs are at least 90% (ugly) men playing absolutely terrible music. are you mad about them getting gigs over robert hood? boiler room etc are featuring more women because its fresh, there's a ton of great new ones, and people want that. Unforunately the talented women like N.K. are hounded by nonstop conspiracy theories like yours that undermine them. thousands of people want to see her play because she's super good, charismatic and being born sexy doesn't take any of that way, it just makes her a rock star. you're gonna have to deal with that reality, even if it makes you feel left out.
It's to further push their propaganda that women are oppressed by men. She is talented and even putting "male dominated industry" in the title diminishes her talent and skill. It's like saying, "she's good for a girl"
What about all those sexist comments on the internet. "She's pretty but she can't mix" kind of thing. All the articles about her Between the Beats video. Find a man who has to deal with so much sh*t. It's not easy to make it as a man either, but women in the industry have to deal with lot's of things men don't. Especially 10 years ago. And Nina doesn't even exaggerate or complain. P.S. I really agree with her, I'd like to live in a world where no one even cares about the gender of a DJ because it really doesn't matter.

I don't get what the meaning of these articles are? Are you saying that it is wrong for it to be male dominated? Why don't you get your own house in order and sort out the gender inequality in nursing and teaching. I long for the day that 50% of construction workers are female.....
Yes, a really big problem. If women had to do manual labor on a construction site in mid winter, having to drive two hours each way to get there I think they would agree that men and women are suited for different work. They might actually think before they talk. So far the only equality examples they give are executive jobs based in comfortable offices. Men do the most dangerous and physically hard work there is to do. Credit where credit is due. No need to thank us.
1. Within the UK, there have been several programmes to encourage more men to get into teaching. You might want to check up the stats on headteachers and consider why the minority gender in teaching in general has such a high percentage when it comes to headteachers. 2. Gender equality in nursing: again, look at the applications into nursing college. Men aren't rejected out of hand or banned from applying. 3. An article like this is asking why there are so few female DJs. Now you're not really going to contend that it's some kind of physical labour/strength issue now, are you? 4. What job do you do, Nick? Because you sound underappreciated.
I think my biggest problem is the very narrow and selective examples I hear on the MSN programs. Like the top 100 companies and their board room makeup, the total positions is a fraction of a percent of all jobs. Yet on the other hand and at the same time, the UK was ruled by a Queen, a female PM and every devolved assembly had a female leader. That is 100% female political and monarchical leadership, is that not totally against every equality standard there is? Do you hear men complain about it? If it is equality you are after then you should be complaining about it. Regarding your points, I could turn them all against you with the same programs to get females into male dominated areas, but that's not good enough for feminists, but you are offering these to me as a consolation?
Some male DJs and promoters were complaining that untalented hot chicks were getting more gigs than their numbers in the population of world DJs would warrant and that ugly dudes with way more talent were being overlooked for slots. As a result of these overheard conversations, the net went crazy and alleged sexism and that more needed to be done to book ladies. Nina is pointing out that's reverse discrimination... i.e., favoritism.
Techno was invited by three young black men from Detroit. If women want to be creative, then do it yourselves, don't pull men who innovate down to your lower standards and capabilities.
absolutely blowin away by her attitude. Hard work gets it done. Women are not special. So right . Greatness rises to the top.If women wanna be great ,go for it!
They asked her about the ups and downs of making it. She pointed that out and then that she had actually been benefited by her gender and looks, and further that outcries against people pointing this out (that hot chicks get gigs easier) and wanting more ladies in DJ slots is basically reverse discrimination or preferential treatment, too.
The leftist recruiters requires victim mindset creation. They then use this as leverage for political messages to be carried. I hope Nina is aware of channel4s reputation for propaganda.
Damn, man relax goddamit. There are thousands of better DJs on this planet. It's not %100 about djing. It's about being hypy, lucky, hardworking and many more. Just stop judging.
it's not 100% about djing no, but it is about personality and hers is awful, massive hubris, arrogant and narcissistic, no room for that attitude in any music scene
She plays mostly tech house that a lot of her fans think is techno.... but she's fit! Damn that short n legs! I bet Putin as already give her one while listening to tech house! Neither have a clue about proper techno! Haha

I love her voice
what's the context of this interview? just seems bodged together for no apparent reason
no disrespect aimed towards nina ofc
It's to further push their propaganda that women are oppressed by men. She is talented and even putting "male dominated industry" in the title diminishes her talent and skill. It's like saying, "she's good for a girl"
No it's not, it's saying that she's so good at what she does that she managed to get where she is despite the sexism. Which is true.
Any data to support your claim?
