The drivers should simply refuse to use busses that are not safe. They should be protected by law in doing so. Where I live, the school district owns and operates its own busses and the drivers are unionized. These drivers are afraid to speak out? Unionize!
And ths Durham bus company needs to be sued by every district it does business with. The district pays 8 mil? It needs to get its money's worth. And the school district officials in charge of contract compliance need to be fired. The district probably needs a new lawyer too.

If the buses are not safe for the kids, they are not safe for the drivers either

You can BET they'll get into trouble for speaking out REGARDLESS of being told they won't. DON'T BELIEVE IT! We drivers are NOT important enough to districts!

Jellybean Frandsen and that is truly a shame because I have a lot of respect for school bus drivers because it is one of most highly skilled jobs out there.

@@daltondick5223 Thank you for saying that. I am a school driver working for a contractor. I've been driving for my local school district for 11 years and I don't think care a thing for me or my fellow drivers.

Jennie Deitsch They really need to care because if they don’t they will have no drivers and they will out of luck. Also a big thanks for safely transporting our students.

It's illegal to retaliate for speaking about workplace safety.

That's changing now that there is a shortage of drivers. (or it should be anyway)

The moral of the story is to not use a nationwide contractor like First Student or Durham. Either use a local contractor or buy/own/operate your own buses.

Keller Bus logic is unsafe. They block traffic near Tarrant Parkway and 377 at some apartments. Even know the apartment complex has a giant empty entry and exit. They prefer to stop 3 lanes of traffic to let off 20 kids rather than taking 5 seconds to pull in the complex.
