Nothing quite matches the feeling of opening a geode and being the first to see what's inside! Which one was your favorite? What would you like to see us do next with geodes? Let us know!
Keokuk Geodes are some of the. Best I have for IV effects. One of my pieces has a pink calcite in center and then a yellow UV reaction ring around the geode .....I definitely want to find more pink calcite pieces it's a stunning material
Jacob's Cave, outside of Versailles Missouri has a what they described as the world's biggest geode, but it's part of the cave so you have to go there to see it. It was accidentally found when they were trying to open up an area to allow make it friendly to people with strollers or wheel chairs, from what I remember. I was so impressed I named my son Jacob, and he has gone to see the cave on his own.
Those were absolute stunners! So beautiful and filled with gorgeous crystals! I think the light iron staining gives these and most geodes with it, a little depth and color. The ones that dont have heavy iron staining or arent completely covered in it anyways. And they can always be cleaned out with iron out, if you dont like the iron staining. The quarts inside those have pretty big crystal points un them. And they are so bunched up that they are only single terminations on them. Keokuk has some of the most amazing geodes in the USA. They are just gorgeous and i wish i could own one of those but they are going to be way to expensive for my modest budget. Im disabled and on a fixed income and can barely afford food! But they sure are, amazing geodes! Thanks for sharing!
Geodes are amazing pieces of geology, not to mention beautiful display pieces, but the feeling of anticipation of opening your own is the best part of owning one...or many!
My first rock my dad got me was from a store in North Conway NH called Donderos 😥💔 it closed last year......but it's a geode from the formation you're speaking of.....back then in 1980 we thought the best thing to do was bleach one side to get the iron off of it....I still have the stone to this day and have been an avid prospector since here in New Hampshire and in Maine.....Rock on and have fun all....glad I found your site!!!
Oh I just remembered I showed a Keokuk geode towards the end of my last video about Mozarkite that makes these ones look tiny. Without a doubt the biggest geode I've seen from Missouri!
Mineral oil does not stink but costs more. Dont wash kerosene down the sink with raw soap, use a bucket after cat litter or oil sop. Geode digging at the fee dig is on my bucket list.
As an Iowa girl. I loved seeing this. It's also nice to be able to figure out what I really have. As a beginner rockhounder, I'm still lost at identification.
I have a challenge here for you at Gemstone TV! I love watching cave exploration videos and see many different types of stone, minerals, crystals, flowstone. I was curious if you could recognize and name crystals and minerals in their natural state?!?! (Make a sort of reaction/guess the minerals video😁) I just recently watched a video by Underground Explorers and was so in awe of all the different kinds cool rock formations and crystalization they came across!!
What breaks my heart is the store I got mine from was shut down because of COVID etc ...he did so much for kids, made geology fun....store was called Donderos 💔😞
Given enough time, direct sunlight will alter many materials. But these should be pretty durable in that regard. In terms of dissipating the kerosene smell, it was recommended that leaving these in a warm, sunlit room would do the job.
Really dig the videos but the music is too cluttered and headache inducing. Am I the only one? Don’t mean to be rude at all. Maybe I’m just getting old.

It seems like the bigger the geode, the bigger the surprise inside! What fun! Great episode!!!
You might find different stuff inside, bit they all seem pretty much the same, for ones from the same area.
Wow amazing, thank you for posting this video 🤙🏻

Glad it was helpful!
It is apparent that no " EXPERT " advice was sought from any source or these would not have been cut with a saw !
These folks are dangerous !
Not everyone is as expert as I ;
The Village Idiot !
Me thinks I would like to show these lovely ladies ;
My ROCKS ?
My Keokuk Geodes at any rate !

That is a cool idea. Hopefully one day, we'll get to explore a cave.
Hello - love your channel . Have you ever done a session dedicated to fluorescent minerals/gems?
We did a video on this several years ago, th-cam.com/video/cLCgaMOzwjg/w-d-xo.html. We've been meaning to do an update, hopefully soon.
Ok it's official. I'm going to have to send you guys some Missouri lace agate druse quartz.
So awesome!❤❤
What breaks my heart is the store I got mine from was shut down because of COVID etc ...he did so much for kids, made geology fun....store was called Donderos 💔😞
Sorry to hear that!
@@gems it's been in the North Conway area for decades.....he had a museum of rocks, crystals, fossils, geodes.....
Does anything happen to these geodes if you leave them outside in the sun?

They continue to weather .
The Dolomite flakes of and any water inside , dehydrates.
MORE MORE MORE!!!

Geodes are boring, but I gave you a thumbs up anyway.
To each their own but How are you bored with geodes? I get it doesn't have the "pirate treasure" factor like jewelry but I love me a Geode

Hardly any good as African ones
I fuckin love this channel for my crystals hyper fixation
