I love him for his music, for his courageous soul and unending spirit to stand against the powerful, in unmasking certain power centers and traditionalists.
    More power to him.

Very balanced and to the point reporting. TMK, like all visionaries, will sail into the wind for a while. Change is good and oftentimes leads to creativity and growth. Those who claim that Carnatic music is sacred and therefore should stay the way it is are doing a disservice.

If music is for the liberation of the mind and peace, why connect it to religion and conservative ideas? More power to TM Krishna.

This had to happen. Old school must pave way for newer thoughts. Carnatic music notes have been used for composing songs in South Indian movies depicting Jesus, Allah, prayers in the Church and Masjids since the history of films. What Krishna is trying to convey is lets make this form of music more acceptable and spread the richness of the same. Notes remaining the same, its only the lyrics which change according to the users. Finally, God is one - form and formats may differ. More power to Krishna and his ilk..we need change..thats the only constant.

I don't understand carnatic music but enjoy its melody and people like TN Krishna makes it more accessible to other cultures. I believe he is stepping up another step to make carnatic music more glorious for common man and for country and clutches out music form from dominant castes .🎉

It takes a lot of courage and conviction to take on the entrenched powers of his own caste and class from within. You become lonely, isolated and at times feel helpless in his circumstances. He fully deserves the support of all the progressive people of the country.

Many people think he is a revolutionary which is BS. He is a publicity seeker. Let me give you a list of non hindu carnatic musicians let alone non brahmin. 1. Angamali Jose dilruba player from Kerala. 2. Our famous Jesudoss. 3. John Higgins, Higgins Bagavatar. An american 4., Sheikh Chinnamoulana Sahib from Andhra a muslim there are now a husband wife muslim duo from Tamilnadu who are performing nadaswaram artists. There are many famous non brahmin singers like Dandapsni Desikar, seerkazhi Govindarajan, Madurai somu, Brinda and Mukta and many others. Many may not know that Chembai Vaidyanada Bagavatar had two disciples the famous Jaya and Vijaya brothers who are from a lowcaste malayaali community.

Of we must support this brave soul that attempting to swim against centuries of oppression and marginalization. It's also the height of arrogant for those idiotic ladies to compare carnatic music to the theory of relativity. Appreciation of classical music can have different hues and one of this is just pure love.

In old days music was preserved by Devdasis & Bhavanis & Naikinis & in kothas in northern India. There was no single Brahmin lady or male singer. Lata Mangeshkar, M. S. Subbulaxmi, Mogubai Kurdikar, 56 Chhurri are examples.

Remember the choice of your word as conservative is wrong.there are no conservative classical singers.
Krishna is a handle of DMK.they hate brahmins and so does he.they are atheists and so is he.he sings on thyagaraja and periyaar who wore a chappal maala on Lord Rama.does he approve chappal maala on Lord Rama.if he has guts let him come out openly and tell this.DMk hates sanatana and so does he. Madras music academy is agent of anti brahmin and Hate brahmin theory. And tmk was obvious non deserving choice.a hypocrite and pseudo reformer where there is nothing to reform.

Violin, a church music instrument, should be removed from carnatic music altogether! Why should it sing the praises of Rama & Krishna and confuse the desis? What was muthuswamy dikshidar thinking when he adapted it for carnatic? Did he not know how music will eventually devolve to caste and political tunes soon? 😂
