- thinkequal.worl... - The Solomon Islands are among one of the world's most remote areas, with their inhabitants scattered around a large area in the South Pacific. Medical service is hard to come by and in emergencies, transportation to the next hospital is often not available or too expensive. Women often die during childbirth. The World Bank, the EU, AusAID, and IFAD are helping with the upgrade of one of the islands' defunct aid posts; a task that has emotions running high between men and women in the village. It's time to think EQUAL for women and girls.

The Solomon Islanders are the nicest people on earth, they are honest decent and caring.
The world could learn so much from them
The clinics however are so basic, often they just have dirt floors.
This is where Australian aid should go.
I certainly hope this is true. As a society with gender inequality, violence towards women is commonplace. Over 60% of female residents in the Solomon Islands reported to at least one incident where their husbands physically and/or sexually abused them. Most people think that it's okay to hit your wife if she disobeys. Hopefully this is changing, because the islands look beautiful.
Why are these people are being ignored. This is despicable and truly ungodly. A shame before God. 😢😢😢
This video is so sad...and so symbolic too. All the disease, the misery, and at the end showing them praying to Jesus. They wouldn't be in this state of misery if it wasn't for Jesus and his followers who brought him to the island.

Why couldn't the grandparents have the little girl cover her chest....they actually put a necklace on her it is so easy to pull up the strings of the dress it almost seems they are offering her... there's so much rape in that island... horrible 😢😢
My father survived off of coconuts on a remote island when MacArthur left the GIs to the Japanese. He hated coconuts until his dying day. He left the islands 6'1, 120 lbs.
Very sadden, and thank you for the post, i hope these challenges turn how we solomon islanders think and pursue for the future..

There are and have been very successful "Nurse Midwife" training programs for members of the community that have turned out very professional competent nurse midwives. Ones who would also be able to see any signs of complications before the woman gives birth. It looks like they do not have the equipment and everything else they need in the little clinic. The nurse assistant is probably not trained well enough to be competent. I don't know what's going on but this is wrong, period.
well i wouldn't say 'None'...the person @ 3:18 does and the people @ 3:30 too...its just darker. perhaps the hair gets darker in adulator/puberty
This isn't completely sad. They are gonna get the help and Finaly the women are heard. Even though it has to be from a man voice!
