My home is on the seaside in Kiribati and I have no worries for sea level rise. A coral atoll is perhaps the safest place to be if there is a sea level rise. It is a living organism and if sea level rises then the coral grows taller and the waves stack the sand higher. These dandy atolls will always be affected by the tide, wind and waves.

A big thank you to who ever made this video, but I would suggest that before you put your report like this in public, you must check out the facts first. There are quite a few errors in this video, they are not facts. For instance when you mentioned "climate refugees from the Outer Islands"...This is not correct at all because people who have migrated from the outer islands they migrated because they thought Tarawa which is the main island has more opportunities for education and jobs. It has nothing to do at all with climate refugees. The word climate refugees is not accepted in Kiribati, if Kiribati are forced to migrate because of climate change they would want to migrate with respect and dignity. So please get the facts first before publishing. Dog Heart for information there is no such a word negros in Kiribati, because everyone see each other as equal and respect each other with their different backgrounds. Although there are a few Chinese and half caste not just with Chinese blood but with other races as well. For example, My husband was born and grew up in Kiribati but he's part Chinese, Germany and English. Kiribati people respect each individuals with their backgrounds. Kiribati is a peaceful country and everyone is equal. peace

The pronunciation of the name just seems to be set up to confuse foreigners. I guess then the locals can pick out people who actually care about Kiribati.

You are so right Cleodel with the pronunciation. Kiribati the name of the country pronounce Kee-ree-bas. There is no S in the Kiribati alphabetical order so T pronounce S. thanks
