Right there is a good man. A smart one too. A few points to think on.
1.) He makes a small profit on every gallon sold.
2.) He sells a lot more gallons with his service.
3.) His life is a lot better and more people love him for the way he does business.
4.) How can we all make a difference?
5.) Now go do something for someone.

me and my twin bro still work and pump gas at a full service station in new jersey, ironically called twin towers service station. people love it and know what to expect from us, checking tires, oil, washing windows. family owned business for 80 years and all the workers take pride in it.

Jersey is also a state where you can’t legally pump your own gas so I could see the business flourishing just because it’s just another gas station... unfortunately, even at self service gas stations in a state that does allow driver to pump, service is horrible. You might get someone come up to the window and mumble some intangible words. Never mind a windshield wash, tire, or oil check...

We had a place like this in Jefferson SC. The man that ran the place was called Honey. Everybody referred to the place as Honey's. They sold gas full service, new tires, tire repair and had an on premises alcohol license. Local people sat around in the station and talked for hours. You could drink a few beers and get some to go. There was no drunks around and all the men folks where respectful to women and children. Honey opened at 6am and closed promptly at 7pm. It was a very unique place I am 40 years old now and grew up going in and out of that place and hanging around in the station as I got older though I was never a drinker. I always liked going for the conversation and entertainment. It all started changing about the mid 2000s. All the older men that where retired and always anchored the conversation died and nobody replaced them. The younger generations are now walking around staring at there cell phone. Google solves all the arguments in an instant there no longer any reason to get atlas out. They lost there in ground tank permit about 10 years ago and had to quite sell gas and beer. It is a full service tire and auto repair shop now run by Honeys son and grandson. Honey went station every day until he got sick and died a few years ago. Honeys use to be a magical place for me and hold a lot of special memories from growing up and my 20s. Society has changed tremendously in the past 20 years. people are losing touch with one another. If there is a placed left like this in your part of the world don't take it for granted.

Funny story. I was filling uo with a friend and she got out if the car and kept telling me that JUST HER LUCK THE PUMP WOULD BREAK. So i grt out if the car and look over and immediately told her PUT THE PUMP BACK ON TAKE IT OFF AND FLIP THE LEVER 😂. She looked at me like i had 5 heads 😂. That style pump was the last of my generation on those pumps lol.
Mind you this pump is located at a 7-11 store and OLDER STORE that was bought out and changed to a 7-11. I mean why change the pumps if they still work

Looked out for your car. Let me know if you needed some oil, and I remember those days going to High school not having enough gas to get there and he told me let’s go ahead and put gas in your car just tell your mom and dad to stop by here within the next day and will take care of things. Places like that were the best and we always made sure that we frequented those establishments
