hi sir, I have been working as a civil engineer in a small construction company for the last 1 year. before joining the construction sector I was unemoloyed for 6 years after my ug (as i am preparing for UPSC CSE). Is it possible for me to get into b schools after two or three years if i will start planning right now? will it be helpful for me to switch career right now to data science so that I will get into top b schools after 2 or 3 years? I am targetting some european and singaporean b schools along with usa b schools ? please guide me
@@vishalkasabe3476 The average experience in US bschools for 2-year MBA is around 5 years. So another year or two may not make much of an impact, considering the long career break you've had. Transitioning into another domain (analytics) would mean you're resetting the clock. Why don't you want to work in the current job?
Because I don't know anyone from construction sector who got into top b schools also Its very difficult and time consuming to get leadership position in conctruction industry

The number of medical professionals applying to international MBA programs is quite low. So you'll have a slight edge in terms of differentiation. But the challenge would be to show adcoms that you've thought through the process and your MBA goals are practical. So make sure you work on connecting those dots well. We're not familiar with that bschool since it doesn't rank among the top 100 globally. All the reputed ones insist on work experience. But you'll find several unranked programs that don't care as much. If you're targeting any of those, make sure you research thoroughly especially on their market value.

Depends on what you want to extract from the investment. A certification program can give you the basic knowledge but won't be a game-changer in terms of career pivoting. EMBA gives a regular degree which is better than a certificate. Of course, a full-time degree has the biggest impact. But many can't leave their jobs. Such folks with full time commitments who work with us choose EMBA degrees.
Hi sir, (A) Generally we Indians prefer to work in the following places abroad: 1) US 2) London 3) Singapore 4) UAE Working in these places, many of us have our own personal choices based on non-financial and financial factors. The non-financial factors stay at the top of the list. But having said that, what would be your order of ranking of the countries in the field of management consulting and investment banking /PE&VC considering only financial factors alone. The factors to be considered in making this decision are demand for the job(average salary), cost of living and taxation. I had this doubt because the UAE has zero income tax and VAT is 5%. Thank you

Congrats on the admit. It's among the better known ones in the UK, but not in the same league as the top ranking ones. Which means you won't get the same benefits that you'd get from bschools like LBS, Cambridge, Oxford. Whether you take it up or not would depend on your profile strength, career goals and overall fit with the program. Instead of just relying on the internet, talk to current students to find out the ground realities (ideally you should've done this before applying).

Hi Sir, I am appearing for CFA level 3 next week. I have done BCom honours from Delhi University but have scored just 51% in aggregate. In Xth and XIIth, I had more than 80% I’ve been told that even a score of 750+ in GMAT won’t help me get in top tier international mba schools owing to my marks in graduation. If I clear my CFA Exams, would it compensate for graduation and help me getting admission in top schools?

Typically, applications will have sections for both, bachelors and masters degrees. If not, their guidelines will specify how to fill the form e.g. enter grades for latest degree.

My GMAT Score is 700 with 8 years of work experience in India. This would be my 2nd MBA. My 1st MBA is from a top 20 college in India. My reason for another MBA is to gain global exposure and fast track my career at a global firm. I have been admitted at IE Business School. Overall, IE is a decent brand for first MBA applicants who aren't targetting the elite programs. Typically, second MBA applicants who work with us aim for stronger brands. What were the reasons for choosing IE over the others? Did you apply to other programs too?

A masters degree can be a good (but expensive) step in that direction, but managing a big career change is always challenging. More so, when you have absolutely no prior exposure to the industry and people working in it. Don't rely just on official univ websites. Try connecting with students who've been able to manage such a transition. Find out what challenges they faced. It's can be relatively easier than going in as a fresher. But the earlier points will still apply. Recruiters will need to be convinced that you bring certain skills and experience to the table that the other (local) applicants don't have.

Need-based scholarships are very difficult to come by. Most who work with us get merit based scholarships. If your financial position doesn't allow you to take up international MBA, you can work for a few years to save some funds and also build your profile. It would then get easier to target the right programs where you can get scholarships.

All the good international MBA programs expect several years of work experience. So work on building your profile before considering going abroad.
