    I STILL can’t believe you let people talk you out of going to the Iron Bowl.. hahaha you missed the iron bowliest iron bowl that’s ever iron bowled with Auburn having a literal 99.9% chance of winning with 45 seconds left and then lose on a 4th and Goal from the 31 yard line .. that play is the reason Alabama is in the final 4 to play for another national championship game.. man and you chose a Vandy game

    • @josephbridges7470
      @josephbridges7470 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I think it was cost that kept them from the Iron Bowl. Tickets can easily run$300+ each. That Vandy game was probably $25 each.

      @@josephbridges7470 that’s not how they portrayed it but yes would have been costlier

      @@Kevin_Lazar I dont think they realized they could easily drop $1500+ on just a few hours of one of the biggest college football games of the year until they found out too late. Even Daz has said before that even the biggest soccer games they go to, they at most spend around $400-500 with food and everything.
      Lots of Europeans are perplexed at the money Americans spend for the most mundane events let alone big games. The most expensive season ticket package for Manchester United which has one of the largest fanbases in the world is less than $1k as of this year.

      @@josephbridges7470 I’m not saying you are wrong or not the reason .. I’m going off their multiple videos on/or mentioning going to Alabama and mentioning the iron bowl several times and then seeing the ignorant comments from few people under those videos hating on Alabama and Daz’s replies to those asking where else they should go. Several people mentions of Tennessee then the next video put out they have changed their mind and going to Tennessee .. that’s my analysis on the situation and how I got my conclusion

    Bristol, England TH-camr Mr. H from Mr. H and Friends, along with his wife and daughter, recently visited Texas. They tried different Texas barbecue joints, had breakfast tacos, went to Buc-ee's, watched a Professional Bull Riders event, tried Whataburger, and visited the State Fair of Texas. He tried Shiner Bock and loved it as well.

    Shiner, Texas is a special place, a lot of people don’t know that the area around Shiner was settled by Germans in the 1800s. After they settled, while a lot of the community farmed and couple of families who worked or owned breweries back in Germany decided to open new breweries here. I always hear stories of Germans coming to Texas and being amazed how much Shiner beer reminds them of the beer back home.

    Last year I visited the Shiner brewery (a tiny town in middle of nowhere) while I was working in SE TX. There was a group of folks from the UK there. I had to ask them “why the hell are y’all all the way out here?” They said they had visited TX previously, loved the beer so much they planned another trip & drove 2 hrs to take a tour of the brewery. The other major/semi-major American beers I'd recommend would be Yuengling and Sam Adams. Sam's got a ton of seasonal and rotating specialties every year and they're normally great. Cold Snap, their winter/spring white ale, is a top three beer for me. Local microbrews and regional breweries are where it's at depending on where you're visiting though.

    I really like the Shiner Black Lager. It has nearly the taste of a porter but has clean crisp finish like a lager. They also make a beer with mesquite in it. Full Sail brewing makes a Session lager that is one of my favorites as well. And as for an amber ale I like 90 schilling by Odell brewing.

    • @mescko
      @mescko 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'll keep a lookout for the Black Lager. My beer interest doesn't start until you get to brown ale. I've got thick pitch-black cask-conditioned tripples and quads that come in waxed bottles, are 13% and go for 15 a bottle. "Princes taste and a pauper's purse." Samuel Smith's Chocolate Stout makes a very satisfying substitute when I'm not feeling so flush.

      @@OrondeBranch They can sell beer, but that's it. NY's law is weird where you need a different license to sell hard liquor and wine, and then you can't sell beer. Grocery stores can sell beer and wine-like products (not wine) so like lower abv wine coolers and such. You also can't purchase alcohol before noon on Sundays which is annoying if you have afternoon plans and are doing errands.
      No liquor store is gonna want to sell beer anyway, takes up too much space.

Plenty to choose from, all the way down to Rattlesnake which is more of a weak pale ale or pilsner on a par with or surpassing what mort American brewers offer as their standard fare.

Ofc G knows Luke Bryan... She's seen him shake his money maker 🤣 I lived a few years in Texas too and Shiner is about half way to Bavarian dark Bock beers which you could say, being funny mostly, are almost like beer "soup!" 😋 Very dark and rich. Many get to love them. Germans do call beer "flussiges Brot" or liquid bread. There are the wheat beers, Weizen, which come with Hefe, yeast, and are cloudy, and the Kristallweizen, or clear wheat beers, which other than a Pils are my favorite! I think G would really like that... Kristallweizen. If you find it in the UK or the US from Germany try it for sure!!! Daz and Aiden could try the dark German Bock. They might like it. Many learned to love it when I was in Germany. König Ludwig is a well known one (after King Ludwig II... of Bavaria). Cheers guys 👍❤️❤️❤️

    Shiner was brewed at the K. Spoetzel Brewery, named after Kosmos Spoetzl (a Bavarian). His daughter, known as Miss Celie, played a large part in keeping the Texas Shiner tradition strong after her mother died in 1921. She was the one who convinced her father to stay in Texas and she also ran the brewery for many years after her father died in 1950. She became the only female brewery owner in the nation. Control of the business by Spoetzl's family ended in 1966, when brew-master William Bigler of San Antonio bought the firm. It is the 12th oldest brewery in the country that is still in operation.
    Texas brew laws were rather restrictive and if you wanted Shiner beer in the 70's and 80's you pretty much had to drive out to Shiner to buy it. My grandfather would make several trips to Shiner every year. Texas has some of the most heavy-handed alcohol regulations in the country - largely thanks to special interests groups that like the laws just the way they are. Some regulations are just downright bizarre.

    I'm loving your trip and can't wait for more.
    Gaynor my bff and I will always tell each other what we think of how well our hair is adjusting to the water whenever we travel. How did your hair adjust for you? Good or bad?
    I think your hair looks great and healthy!

    My go to Old Fashioned is Bourbon (usually Larceny), Angostura, and maple syrup. Probably my favorite cocktail.

    I remember seeing Stella sold in the DMV (the DC area) in the late 80s. Distributors' availability in the US can be very different from region to region.

    If you like Whiskey (and by Whiskey I always mean Bourbon 😂) you have to dry Basil Hayden’sor Buffalo Trace. Inexpensive-ish but GOOD.

    Im surprised you cant get Shiner in the UK since it's owned by Gambrinus that's the 14th largest brewery in the US. Ive seen US beers from many much smaller breweries on UK menus.

    Try if you find it Pikesville Rye Whiskey 110 Proof with two fingers and just 2 Ice Cubes and let it set a minute or two. When the ice begins to melt it releases the true taste... Good Stuff And next time I'm home in Teas...I'm gonna look out for thr Shiner Bock... Sounds right up my alley...
