Review of the Mega Slam Hoops 72 Model

- This Mega Slam Hoops review was done to show how the system performs in the real world by a real customer. When looking for a new adjustable basketball hoop for my family I had a difficult time making such an expensive online purchase since I could not physically see a Mega Slam at a local showroom.
Included in the video is my testimonial about the product and some actual raw, uncut footage of me shooting, slam dunking, and hanging on the rim along with a glimpse of the neighborhood kids playing on the Mega Slam 72 lowered to a height they could shoot on and have fun.
We absolutely love our new Mega Slam and it's been great unplugging the kids from their electronic devices and shooting hoops as a family. They are so excited to get home from school to play on the new hoop every day, and we are very pleased with our decision to purchase what I believe is the best adjustable basketball hoop on the market.

Great review. I just returned a cheap 54 inch Goaliath system. I didn't even unbox after seeing all the wobbling complaints online. This 72 inch unit looks awesome. You just helped with my decision

I'm in year 4 with my Mega Slam (Cincinnati, OH.) and it still looks brand new after 3 Ohio winters. Best residential system there is. The only tweak I made was installing a Gared Snapback rim (official NBA rim from 1981-2008). The MS rim is very, very nice, but I grew up on the 80's and 90's NBA and had to have "their" rim ;)

this was great! ive been looking at alot of basketball hoops for a couple months,but the most i could afford was an adjustable portable spalding for 170$.At least it serves the purpose tho

72"x 42" is the standard size backboard of the NCAA and NBA and those i prefer over the 72 x 48 before 1986

That basketball hoop cost about $1500 so it would probably be under 2k to buy everything you need an install it yourself thats what i did

question about your concrete court....it looks like the pole is right on the edge where as on other vids and installations they have a small square of concrete maybe 2 ft by 2 ft or smaller just off the main concrete pad. When the backboard is all the way up at 10', does the post interfere with playing area at all? What dimension is your play court area. Somebody told me that a 30' x 50' is necessary for real 3 point line with room to shoot behind. Thanks for your video.
I decided not to do the smaller 20" x 20" anchor concrete pad adjacent to larger concrete playing area because I wanted a straight line of concrete so it is easier to mow behind it. The post doesn't interfere with the playing area on my court because the backboard has a 4' overhang, and this allows for safe play.

Concrete pad for the court was poured at the same time when setting the anchor.
i heard its good for dunking it would be great if you could male a video of the hoop withstanding your weight
very quiet compared to other goals i’ve heard. you just install according to instructions? notice a lot of backboards sound like a hollow gong when struck. this is solid like i would prefer.
This is 1/2" thick glass just like in the NBA.

Souther Guy sorry to bother you but i would like to know if you can give you the dimensions of the post and the holes specification. i bought the goalrilla 72" Gs72 but i did not get the post and i would like to make it myself but i don't have the dimensions. i going to try to go to dicks sporting goods and take measurement and hope they allow me.

Thanks for the review. Mine is coming in the next week. Question: Did you end up getting the net for the sides? As a dad of 4 kids myself, thinking this could keep it out of neighbors yard.

Excellent set up. I'm on the market for a 72 glass inground. I've seen some spalding and goalrilla sets. Haven't seen this one. But looks bad ass. Did you consider other brands? How is it holding up, now that it's been a few years. Also did you install or had a company install? Lastly was it mounted directly on top of the concrete or dug a hole and filed with concrete. Hope you answer. Thank you

Was the concrete poured when you moved in or did you have to have it done yourself aftwards?
I'm researching tree clearing and getting a 35' x 50' slab poured in my backyard right now. Makes a $2,000 hoop the cheap part of the budget! Then I'm contemplating adding a plastic tile on top of the cement (a la Sport Court).
This was an older home we moved into that we renovated. After we moved in, the court was one of the things we added ourselves.

Excellent. Not a single issue after tons of use.
Did you install it and the concrete court at the same time? Any cracking in concrete since installation?
The concrete pad for the playing area and hoop was all installed at the same time. No cracking, and the hoop is still performing great!

This adjusts form 5 feet to 10 feet
How high was it when you were shooting and dunking?
when I was dunking it was ~9'. I can't remember exactly, but definitely higher than 8.5'.
How many springs on the breakaway rim? Looks solid.
Not sure, but it is pro level. It is solid. Best I have played on.

I started with the collegiate rim, but swapped it out for the 180 pro rim last year.
