      They do see it, but it's the tory leadership deciding that their best hope is stoking up the culture wars. Literally tricking the uninformed public into accepting their disingenuous arguments that somehow "the lefty woke" and Labour are trying to force everyone to accept a so called "green agenda" that they claim isn't needed and will ruin the country and cost billions. More "us and them" like Brexit except this time the woke are the bogey man, the enemy that only they can save us from.

      @@williamsulman2646 Alongside wind and solar production, there will be a need for storage of energy. A good example is Australia, where they are installing a lot of battery storage. The two have to go hand in hand. It's ridiculous to support an energy system that, if not stopped, will make this world uninhabitable for my grandchildren. Investing in renewable energy can stop that becoming a reality. It's a no-brainer.

    • @williamsulman2646
      @williamsulman2646 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @philreilly6959 then you pay for it for your grandkids! My generation can't afford to feed ourselves let alone have kids.

    • @philreilly6959
      @philreilly6959 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @williamsulman2646 Times are hard for everyone. I'm a pensioner, so I'm not exactly rolling in money, but I want to do what it takes to give everybody, including you, a decent future rather than a horrendous one. I don't know where you have got your information from, but it sounds like you think that if the country invests in renewable energy, then it will be extra for you to pay.
      The fossil fuel industry keeps telling everybody that it will cost more, but it's not true. The cheapest form of energy in the world today is Wind energy, followed by Solar energy. Gas powered power stations are more expensive to run.
      The problem at the moment is that all energy has to charge whatever the international price for gas is set at. That's why our energy bills are so high. Even though half of the energy used in this country comes from renewables, which are cheap and getting cheaper all the time, the whole of our energy prices are set by the price of gas. The government are supposed to be looking at getting a fairer system, but they're not rushing.
      So that's why our energy costs are so high and why they'll stay that way for years to come if more gas powered power stations are built.
      So more investment in renewables (which would be paid for by private companies) would result in you having to pay much less for your energy while at the same time helping to cut global warming. Don't believe the fossil fuel industry who say the opposite is true, they have been lying to us for half a century. They knew back then that their products would cause global warming, but they hid the truth. And they're lying now because they want to carry on making massive profits at our expense.
      So I understand your frustration and anger at the way things are at the moment and I share that. But the fault doesn't lie with renewable energy, it lies with the fact that the government are putting in place policies that will carry on hitting your pocket (and mine!!!)

    • @williamsulman2646
      @williamsulman2646 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @philreilly6959 no your not sharing my frustrations.
      I'm 37 and working class and we are being taxed out of existence to pay for your pensions and nhs care.
      The last thing I wanna hear is that we need to go back to the stone age to stop the worrys of people who quite frankly have nothing to worry about!
      Wind turbines made In China by coal powered station's to make the western pearl clutching middle classes feel a bit better. So then they can write comments online about how virtuous you are on a phone made by slave's again in China who are not going to stop burning coal so whatever we do on this tiny island it makes no difference anyway.
      So how are you going to save your grandkids? Your calling for a future of complete poverty because we've spent all are money on green impoverishment. China and India continue to industrialise and burn whatever they feel like for fuel.

    Why does Dale keep saying "windmills"? When was the last time a windmill was built?

    • @PorthLlwyd
      @PorthLlwyd 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Those "wind turbines" you see are actually milling grain into flour, so it's correct to call the "Windmills". The flour is then transferred to a Grain Reconstitution Facility where heat is released upon blending with water. This heat is used to turn water into steam which drives turbines to generate electricity.

    A 4kw domestic solar PV array with batteries, pays for itself within 5 years at current grid prices. After that it provides the home with 4000kwh a year for FREE for the next 20+ years.
    Put another way that is 2p per kwh over 25 years.
    But you won't see Rishi nor Dale pushing for that.
    They want centralised energy with big energy companies making obscene profits - charging 30p for something that costs them 2p.

    He's wrong about the current state of the electric cars. Currently the cost to charge a car is deerer per mile than it is per mile in diesel or and efficient petrol.
    It's only cheaper if you home charge which isn't possible for most, especially those living in high rise buildings or terraced houses.
    Electric cars also cost roughly a third more than their petrol equivalents and degrade must faster too. Both down to the batteries with them pushing up the price and how they degrade over time.
    These issues need solving before more aggressively pushing people into those vehicles.
    If the cost of energy is reduced, electric charge points are more heavily regulated and the battery problems are solved we can move to electric vehicles with no drawbacks.

    • @faves2064
      @faves2064 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @AegisK depends on where you live, if there's no provision on site for car charging then you're at the mercy of the expensive, unregulated public charge points.

      @AegisK that's really good to hear, if everyone works together like that we'll get to a place where EVs aren't something only those better off can afford much quicker. We'll all be better off for it too.

Forget the bloody politics and lets talk engineering. How are we going to do it and if you think it is wrong, how would you do it? Remember the wind does not blow all the time. What about the grid? What about storage? What about using thorium or SMR technology?
