Those little freeze dried pouches would probably fit perfect in a hanging pocket (shoe) organizer on the back of a pantry door or maybe a wall in your garage. I went to the food bank last week. We can use it once a month. I inventory all the things I got and compared them to what I would of paid at my local grocery store or Walmart center if I would of purchased it myself. It was roughly about $230. Now I try to plan my meals around what I have and only pick up items I need from the store to go with them. I enjoy watching your videos
i think one of the reasons they weigh is that they report how much was donated. Our FB has a report called pounds and plates Good morning! Here's the Plates and Pounds report from last week.Last week we distributed 182,615 pounds of food and provided 152,179 meals to the community through our network of agency partners. So far in 2023, we've distributed more than 4 million meals to our community and over 3 1/2 million meals. We appreciate our donors for their continued support!
💁🏻♀️YES... We are rural and our grocery store makes $2 bags and they weigh ~10+lbs each for reduced options for regular shoppers and are hit/miss, losses that benefit NOTHING (stuff you wouldn't give a critter), donation food, and to ensure the ordered weight are accurate...I was lucky enough to put my own bag(s) and ended up with 7 bags of over 70lbs in 1 trip to the grocery store ...☝🏻even some of the workers don't know about this😉👍🏻
A Sheepherder (sheep herder) loaf, also called shepherds bread is a dense bread, traditionally made in a cast iron dutch oven, and it’s delish! 💜 Those balsamic onions are delish, they’re pickled with a bit of sugar, so they’re sweet n tangy (delish on sandwiches!) I don’t believe they’re cooked before canning, so not caramelized in that sense. Btw, I still get sooo amazed by just how fabulous your food bank is, I so wish all of them were like yours, it would be truly wonderful and such a blessing to so many people
Using an ice cube tray, it’s easy to squeeze the lemons and freeze the juice into usable cubes. Zest them first and freeze that, and freeze the rinds also, pull one out, and use it to throw down the garbage disposal to freshen it up! Just an FYI for food with mold on it…most people can cut off the mold, and they’ll be fine, no worries…however, if anyone in your household has a severe allergy to penicillin (like anaphylaxis…) toss it and wash your hands before you touch your face. (I have a severe penicillin allergy and was told by my dr to not even eat blue cheese.) So, while most people will be fine cutting a little mold spot off of cheese or bread or fruit, some people may not, and may know they’re allergic to penicillin but not think about the mold on food possibly containing that same mold they’re severely allergic to. Just an FYI. Plus penicillin (made from mold) allergy runs in families genetically, so if your mom or sibling has it, but you never have…you might be lucky…but you might not want to risk it, cause it can show up later (like bee sting allergies)…having your throat swell up, not able to breathe, covered in hives spending time in the hospital is no fun, and for real, very life threatening. I am all about saving useable food, but just wanted to let people know that for some…the moldy stuff needs to go to the goats. Thanks Carolina, so great to see you volunteering and so happy for your channel’s success!!
My husband and I had to use our town's Feeding America program when we had job loss and a health issue. Now that we are in a better place, we both volunteer. We are still allowed to take a box as volunteers and were shocked to discover that there is so much left that they have no way of keeping at the drop off. We take any leftovers they give us and pass it out to our neighbors who don't come because they think they are taking away from someone else.
Ur videos just always make my day! I work at home and watch ur videos throughout the day. Loved that pasta dish looks amazing! U do such a great job at keeping a great variety for your family.
I saw something the other day to just cut the peel off leon and use the vitamix to puree the rest rather than squeezing. I need to try it I have a bag of lemons too!
In Madrid there's a sweet company called Mallorca that used to make fruit sorbets during the summer. They would get huge oranges and lemons, cut off the tops and hollow them out. They would freeze the shells and put sorbet inside , put the tops back on and voila, fancy dessert. It was really neat to eat orange sorbet from an orange. I've been dying to try this myself. It would be a show stopper to serve a bowl full of lemons for dessert and have people delightfully surprised with lemon sorbet. Might be a good palate cleanser after a heavy fall dinner.
I have already watched this but I watched again so I don't remember if I made a comment already 😄so here is another one you made out like a bandits on this haul good for you .
I just wanted to tell you that you are making a difference with these videos. My 8-year-old daughter has watched a few with me recently and now she's asking if children can volunteer at the food bank. Thank you for shining such a positive light.
I really like your videos. There are so many teaching moments I see. Gideon has had his shoes on the wrong feet for the past 3 videos as well as his shirt on backwards. A gentle reminder every time will correct that in no time. I wish you all well.
So cool to see your chickens (and Cake, the turkey) enjoying the bounty. They give so much to us, so it’s nice to give back to them. I’m sure it was a party!
Great idea for the watermelon. I just canned limeade and lemonade concentrate. Very easy to do. I had a case of limes and lemons given to me. The concentrate was the only shelf stable food I could think of. Lol. Thank you for sharing.
You have such a wonderful channel... really enjoyed learning about some new recipes... I have lots of chickens and I love them but I have way more eggs than I can sell so I donate them to our food bank...
Love you volunteer and help out your community! What do you make of the food bank food is amazing! Watermelon concentrate fabulous! But I especially loved the lemon Halloween portions brilliant idea
I gave pb to a neighbor with kids I was never going to use it. last week I gave them chick peas I hate them and they gave me lots of other beans that I like
I really need to try watermelon lemonade ❤️ I’ll probably forgo the sugar all together if possible and just add stevia when I make a pitcher of it. I’ve seen the recipe for strawberry lemonade but never watermelon. Sounds delicious
another wonderful video. i use to go to one when i was raising my grandsons. they would go off to school and i would go work at the food bank and bring home food. this reminds me of those times. thank u for wonderful cooking too.
Hi Carolina! 🥰 I love your channel so much. And you are definitely helping me with this new little transition into food bank/pantry hauls, with my channel. So, thank you! And, I just learned that you live in Idaho! I am in Washington State, so we are neighbors. ❤ Lots of love, to you, and yours. ~Kelly 🦋
I don’t have a food bank close to me! There is one at a church 30 min from me. It would be nice to volunteer. It would be good for my kids to see how it works and what a blessing it is!
I am glad they give you a chicken bucket, they were all sooooo happy. You did well on your haul and your volunteer portion. The food looked great that you made. Great work.
I love watermelon so I think the 🍉 lemonade is really good ,I have also saw on some of these mukbangs they are drinking strawberry lemonade,I bet that is also good I am going to have to get the things and find out 😃.

That’s amazing for the chickens, snowy and of mr turkey - I want to call him Tom. It’s amazing what they turn into eggs and other chicks.
Bless you
