Class video - 100% agree that the big manufacturers are finally being bolder and braver with their designs. Much needed after a long time of seeing basic designs just using templates 🤧
IMO, the best PL club shirts ever are the Asics Newcastle home shirt with the blue star. Gorgeous kit. The Liverpool Adidas away with the green and white squares from 95/96. Then two from Arsenal. The gold Sega away shirt and the maroon 02 home from 05/06. Classy shirts those two.
Everything old is gold ,i love and missed classic kits,i have some classic kits .when i look on them i feel sad and i wish if we back to the old days and beautiful real football . Sony & Sharp,JVC ,Opel my fav sponsors for old kits Kappa & Old Nike and Adidas and Lotto
One other thing that I prefer in the older kits is the quality. I don't like the plottet on foil like applications these days. Back in the 90s the logos for example were stitched and they hold to this day. With some of my 2010s shirts the big sponsor-flocks have just fallen off after a few washes which makes me not wear the kits that often because i don't wanna ruin it.....
The one thing about retro kits that I love the most is the lace up collar I have no idea why. I literally try to get my hands on every classic kit that has one. My favourite is probably that 95 (I think) Sampdoria one. I’m not exactly sure why lace up collars were used in the beginning of football. I just kept thinking that it has something to do with port cities like cities by water to make them look like sailor shirts. Nevertheless that is my favourite part of retro kits and I love how they are sometimes brought back in especially when they were made into a main kit like Palermo a couple seasons back. Class video as always
Loved this mate. I agree, it’s nice to see brands tapping into the nostalgia but then also making designs unique with the influence. Here’s to the next golden generation of kits
Yes. There was more competition in the past, that meant the designs were more important. Now they’re mindlessly cranking out kits yearly and how does that factor into the whole environmental play all companies are talking about. That Juve 3rd, is completely sold out everywhere. But I also ended up getting one
I think we're coming out the end of an efficiency generation (CR7 & Messi but also in a technological age) which brings out artistic people looking to rebel, and this might see more creative kits come with more skillful football in the 20s (Fingers crossed)
My favourite United shirt was the sharp United shirt with the umbro logos going down the sleeves. Also shorts were cheaper as well.

Yes things are more centralised now which means less effort at the top

Yeah 100% agree, I think we're moving back into a golden era of kits - which is exciting
Can't beat late 70s and 80s kits
Definitely better back in the day
I’m new generation but i like retro more because they didn’t play simple and safe and went all out
So it's not just us nostalgia merchants aha
Adidas and nike are too minimal nowdays
They need to be more flashy
We are getting old 🥸
🥲
Hello young person here, I got into football back in 2-3 years ago and I can say that old football kits where baller.
