Perfect timing! I just brought home onions, garlic, and potatoes and was wondering - What would Amy do with these? ha ha (I did buy the red onions in a bag, so I next time I'll buy them individually!) Thanks for sharing all your wisdom with us - it really makes a difference!!
There are two types of garlic - soft neck garlic and hard neck garlic. Soft neck garlic is what is sold in stores, grown more in the south (can’t tolerate hard freezes), and last longer on the shelf. Hard neck garlic, grown in the north, has a stronger flavor, doesn’t last as long. We grow hard neck and harvest it in June/July. Plant part of the crop in October. Use a lot for making pasta sauce in the summer with our home grown tomatoes. If we have excess over what is needed to plant and it starts to go bad in November/December/ January, we peal it and freeze it and use it till the new crop comes in. Each year we grow and harvest more, basically free after the first year buying the seed garlic.
I love the idea of storing produce on shelves in baskets, but was recently traumatized when a friend who keeps an immaculate house (I mean CLEAN!!🤣) had a neighbor with mice and they decided to visit her home. Egad!! They went for the bread and popcorn first. Traumatized I tell you.😂 Any tips Amy?? Great video.
I use mostly glass storage for my pantry items and there are very little things out. But you don't want to eat any food that a pest has been in contact with.
@@TheCrossLegacy She of course threw everything out, did a deep clean and had her entire house seen by an exterminator. I must have misunderstood. I thought you said the potatoes were in a crate. Thanks!!

This just happened to my mother in law this week. Strong plastic containers like oxo or Tupperware sets, not glass to heavy and I'm 50.

I heard mint keeps away mice.
My potatoes never seem to last so I need to try these methods!
Yes, give it a try and see the different it makes.
Did I miss how far apart we're to keep the onions/garlic from the potatoes?
You might have, they need to be kept at least 3 feet apart. But the onions can be with garlic.
Can we see where they are located in the pantry? In the video....
We need to do more pantry videos, its just so dark in there it's hard to film
I am not seeing your book to order in the link, or when I go to your store.
