Paul! You’re not insane! My wife, my four kids, and I sing Compline most every night and we all go to bed after. That said, the kids do usually have something to say after Salve Regina 😉
I am a new subscriber. My eyesight has been in decline and praying with the Breviary has become very difficult. Your podcast is a blessing. I am very happy that you are adding Night prayers. Thank you for that. Who doesn't like to fall asleep after the soothing chants and prayers!. Thank you and Deo Gratia
Thank you! I have been hoping that you would add compline to the fold, and I am so grateful that you have chosen to do so! God bless you! And, thank you!
Thank you so much Paul I have been doing Compline for awhile now with St Aquinas Seminary in Virginia where I live but I’m so happy you are adding it to your channel I am so blessed to have found you. God Bless you and Fr Nathaniel I pray with you and for you everyday
Thank you Paul and Fr. Nathaniel for giving us more knowledge of the special prayer times we so much enjoy singing with you both🤍🕊️🤍. I'm proud to say that I can sing the 3 Canticles in Latin because I've listened to them almost every day night for months. It's nice to SEE 🤓 you both also. Deo Gratias
Excited! Plus, you can say Augustine. Either way it's fine. Your pronunciation is closer to the Latin. People who get on your case are mostly just used to the British pronunciation.
Thank you so much for sharing both of your channels! I truly am thankful for your beautiful voices and information. I always enjoy listening to these talks ❤
Salve Regina for ordinary times, Ave Regina Caelorum for lent, Alma Redomptoris Mater for Advent and christmastide and the Regina caeli for Eastertide. St Benedict added Compline to the 7 original hours.❤
I am truly forever grateful to you Paul & Fr Nathaniel & your Ministry ❤ we're so blessed to have a Spiritual Director & Priest Fr Rory Morrissey also our Singing Priest who is so holy & humble here at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Auckland, New Zealand whom I've learn how to sing the Divine Office , Laud, Vespers & Night Prayer every Monday & Thursday since 2005 through the Conventional Holy Mass he celebrate for our Communion of Peace group and everyone is welcome. Nothing happens by ac-cidence or coin-cidence this is truly GOD-cidence because I don't drive it's so hard for me to come there as much as I want & although I attend Daily Mass here at my parish where I leave they don't chant or sing the morning prayer we just say it 😢 😢 adding the Compline Night Prayer is truly a big big bonus 🙏 ♥️ although we have a bit different wordings of the Nunc ... the tune is the same... ours goes like this ...Save us Lord while we are awake ,,,Protect us while sleep that we may keep watch with Christ and rest with Him in peace...At last all powerful Master You give leave to your servant 🎶.... I am truly overjoyed 😅 by your work and ministry that you all painstakingly do for us to brings us closer to God and a foretaste of Heaven while here on 🌎 amidst tribulation & trials 🕊 ❤ 🕊 God bless you all now & forever ❤ We love you all ❤
I’m very impressed by a young gentleman with a beautiful voice, giving it all to God. I am very impressed. God bless you. I wanted to see the priest who was enchanting the beautiful Gregorio praises, which I don’t understand, but I love the voice and the peace that gives me within me. Again, I am very impressed with you Paul. God bless you and give you more abundant life so we can hear your beautiful voice that you’re giving it all to God. Thank you. I hope you’re thinking of joining the priesthood .❤
No, you didn’t lose your listeners with your Latin and “old” calendar explanation. You made me happy. We have a multilingual parish and bilingual Masses are awkward. I tell people that “ Latin is bilingual” and that the effects of the Tower of Babel was not a blessing, it was a punishment. We have sadly lost that unity with the neglect of the Latin.
I think that English is becoming the new Latin (although probably not to the same extent) with all multilingual masses now becoming English (or Spanish) instead of latin. Hopefully Latin will still have a place of honour, with the kyriales remaining Latin and Greek
@@jeannebouwman1970 First of all, it's not a multilingual Mass if it's in English, by definition. While English has become the lingua franca in the last 50 years, some parishes, like my own, have a high proportion on non-English speaking parishioner which should in charity be accomodated. Most parishes will have a separate Mass in the other language, but during certain Holy Days, such as the Easter Vigil, when the whole parish is together, the common prayers such as the Gloria, the Santus, the Pater Noster and the Agnus Dei are said in latin so ALL can pray together. That is the reason behind my somewhat tongue in cheek remark that "Latin is bilingual"
We pray compline with the Dominicans at our college parish and the Dominican one is slightly different… would u guys be willing to talk on possible differences between compline prayed by different orders?
I heard that the Ave Maria used to be sung in complines and that was when the verses "ora pro nobis pecatoribus nunc et in hora mortis nostrae, Amem" were introduced into the Hail Mary. Do you guys know whether this is true or not?
Thankyou for the great explaining compline I am 87 yrs and am still learning God bless the two of you

Thanks so much brother. You’ve inspired me to try my hand at singing the hours. I will tell you you make it sound easy. God Bless
Loved this! Thank you!
Thank you so much. God bless you both🌟
Thanks!
Please do Compline from the Abbey of the Genesee: 4, 91, 134 and the prayers without any real variation from their formula every night.
Thank you and happy to see your handsome faces.
Deo gratias!
Thank you.

We pray compline with the Dominicans at our college parish and the Dominican one is slightly different… would u guys be willing to talk on possible differences between compline prayed by different orders?
6:14 is it proper to pray the penitential rite if you pray on your own? Or are you just supposed to do the act of contrition?
