Lol I was in the BD baseline in 2006. That was the first year for this set of warmups. Hearing them still playing these 12 years later made me laugh. Those bass splits got me a bit excited! Sounds smooth evil bass! For those interested some of those bass splits were from some of our show music in 2006. There's been a part of the Godfather: Part Blue in every warmup session ever since!
Just love that ghost L 19:47 in the middle of their solo. It goes with the weird random spacey-like style of the solo. Can't have a BD show without ghost strokes now.
So glad there's finally a good recording of these guys, the sound on other lot vids takes a lot of the top end off the audio spectrum, making it sound kinda muffled. Thanks for sharing!
Lots of people say I know say they are not big fans of the new sound of the System Blue drums. I actually really enjoy the tuning snd overall sound the line puts out! Awesome vid of awesome playing!
At WORST, the Blue Devils drumline sounds UNIQUE! I'm not bashing any of the fine lines' of recent years, and Blue Devils have NEVER been my favorite, but.... hold it, somewhere around 4:25 (as I'm typing) this line is quite simply grooving. Superb touch from the entire line!!!! Awesome. It's just great to have the Blue Devils to listen to when every other line sounds like every other line (except for BD). Kudos, and thank you BD.
Oh man, great use of mics, high frame rates and multi angles...of course, those clean prelims beats too...woooh!!!! That and stick clicks in the lot are undervalued lol
A lot of times drumlines will play breakdown exercises for their show music as opposed to a written exercise with a name. This seems like an isolation exercise made up for this part of the show. (They play as a tag at the end.) But if anyone knows this exercise and it has a name, let us know!
Yea, if you look at the BD Snareline instagram post of who made it in, You'll notice Arjun being part of the snares, making it 9 snares. I honestly don't know what happened to him.
Seriously, thank you so much for this awesome footage! Favorite lot video from this past year by far. :-)
Brandon Olander That means so much Brandon! Thank you! It was a fun lot and we had a great time putting it together!
