The Glasgow tenement is as beautiful as a piece of architecture, as it is a good place for living in. You have done it proud. Thank you!

Nice reminder that the blocks of closes had cemented back courts. Even by the 50s a lot of those were grassed over and that mist have been a big change for weans growing up.
Most of flats in Pollok were runs rather than blocks, so the huge grass back gardens went on forever when you were wee. Great times were had in those long stretches of grass

thank you so much for the memories.I found it very interesting as I was born there and my father was brought up here and he talked a lot of the places you mentioned.

I lived at 517 Dalmarnock Rd Bridgeton in one of these until I was 8 and then moved to Toryglen, then to Toronto in 1960.
4 Apartments used 1 toilet in the common stairwell ( no basin, no bath..) . I've still got the scar on my palm from falling off the midgey onto a broken bottle. Haw maw...kinye throw me doon a piece an jam...
'Glasgow gave me more, than it ever took away..as it prepared me for life on the road...Billy Connolly.."I wish I was in Glasgow..
    Don't lose what it had...please.

Very interesting to see all the pictures of the old tenements. I was born in one in Croydon Street that is long been demolished. I keep hoping somebody will post pictures of the old street. I was only about 4yrs old when we moved to Easterhouse. I understand that Croydon Street used to be where The Forge Shopping Centre now stands. A lot of our family lived up the same close Grandparents, Great Grandmother. My Mum and dad and myself and brother lived in a single end. THINK it was 23 Croydon Street. I now live in Canada.
