This month I read the graphic novel version and although I felt like the messages the novel tries to convey are less central in it, the story is a lot clearer. Just in case you ever feel like "wait, what the hell was happening there?", you can answer that q reading the comic version hahah (obvs it's perfectly valid that you didn't enjoy it haha I do agree with your opinion on it too!) Listen, Dean is the perfect boyfriend, but Rory did not deserve him for cheating on him with Jess. Did Jess totally squirm his way into Rory’s life?? Yes! But she still cheated and that’s shitty regardless if someone who can look at that and say she was persuaded to do so. In the later seasons, you’ll see that Jess grows, and he knows Rory the best. And for that, that is why I’m team Jess.
