Hi.. i have a question (which is quite embarrassing): I have the same vespa (not in that condition though).. i really cant get my head straight why these model needs a battery... two friends of mine also bought vespas. one from 1978 and the other from 1985 - both of them doesnt have batteries in them.. i really dont get, why mine (1982) does.. can somebody help? Greetings
@@andyhobi2322 I believe the battery is because the flywheel/coil system are not strong enough on their own to power the turn signals and lights on these newer models, back then
Generally all Vespas run on dynamos . As a result their lighting system is not so bright. I had a Vespa Super and a Sprint V which had 6 volt dynamos. At night I had difficulty seeing properly. Only my PX 150 had a 12 volt dynamo which made the lights particularly bright at night. So I think the reason for the battery was for the Vespa lights to be brighter at night.

does your side panel have a gap at back end when you put it on? I noticed that you didn't clip the spring on side panel.

The battery is only for starting. It is not essential because you can also start it with pedal. It is simply an added convenience.
@@trafegon do you have an electrical starter then? cause i dont think i have one.. i always have to use the pedal, as far as i know
