I worked for a transit authority that was contracted to national express, most of the staff was ex NatEx, I was not. Sadly no crisps, or tea. It was just a bus.
@@SutekhChroma yeah me too, im in Dublin ,, cant believe they Irish , sound so English , but i grew up in England so i can relate ,, love this track ,, would this be a good funeral song ? just asking hehe
@@jaquelineoreilly294 I've gone to Rhode Island Hospital, Prov from Naragansett Brewery Prov and a number of other lovely USA experiences which fit National Express, if I had to pick a Divine Comedy track that'd be a good funeral song I would go for Certainty of Chance, Charmed Life or Happy Goth, lol. Neil sounds English but he's one of ours he's not English English I can tell
Now that's how you play an audience. Pure brilliance. Not many musicians have their viewers laughing during the songs...
National Express is the nickname of NHS Mental Health Services in Northern Ireland
merlinonline67 When you're life's in a mess, don't go NHS!
Really ? I didn't know that, I assumed it was a reference to some mode of public transport !
and also in the west midlands where I saw national express name on the buses
That definitely makes the official video for this song make way more sense
Completely new meaning to the song.
I worked as a National Express coach driver and what he sings is true
Great fact!
Insipid audience?. A load of trendiest. Boring people
I sang that tune as well

What a breath of fresh air this was, pure entertainment. !!!

He didn't sell millions of records but it's good he has a loyal following and his talent is undeniable
The crowd destroyed a classic! i would have been going mental if i was there! :) COMON!!! x

A jolly tune and wonderful performance. An utter condemnation of the public health services... just listen.
Brilliant! Love this song so much. So well done!
Omg didn't know Neil was Irish omg am from northern Ireland well it's the first time I've heard them live so awesome one of my favourite bands :)
I found out after the fact too & I was really happy about that having some Irish in me myself, lol

The guy singing "I hate your guts" 🤣🤣🤣
Great! When was this?
Thumbs up if the Impressions Show brought you here.
I would never travel any other way.
Dead audience - I'd have been dancing in the aisles - fckers
Who's the female backup singer?
Does anybody know the name of the female backing singer? She has a great voice
So placid :o
MY GOD ARE EMPTY SEATS,,, WHAT'SSS IS THE DIVINE COMEDY
Seems like a nice dude. The audience sucks.
What happen to audience? I will be stand and dancing!!
Wow ! Do you have any idea how tricky it is to keep time when you're playing live ?
¡Ese público es una nación de zombis! Es increíble que no sacudan sus cuerpos ni se pongan a bailar, cantar y despeinarse. No se merecen a Neil.
Is he Irish?
mistofoles yep! Northern Irish actually. Great song!!

Did anybody else notice he omitted the word "arse" from the second verse?
l didn't hear it.
Yup but seemed happy to sing it on Jools Holland...one of life's great mysteries.

It's got nothing to do with buses
it has, double meaning .
Read above comments from coach drivers.
This is pure art, double and multiple meanings..
😂
I love this song but even I hated this performance. What's up with the recording? No detail, no bottom end, all mid-rangey and tinny.
I prefer mega bus...
Huh. I used them once, crap in the extreme.
Clever song, but nothing about this performance works. Too scared to sing the lyrics ? Pity.
