You aren't going to pick up anything with a magnet, it's aluminum. Just pray that the piston skirt went out the exhaust in tiny pieces. I have the same machine and it will hit 50-52 on glass. Where did you get the side grip handles? Mine have just fallen apart. It sounds good, you did a hell of a job on it. I'm sure you got it already, but I deal with cars that come with nothing but a certificate of origin and we just go to the DMV here in FL and apply for a title. I was amazed to hear it fire up without choking it. Mine wouldn't start even with the choke so I replaced the choke with a primer pump and it starts much easier. Some tuner that does videos said you should never remove the choke flaps to put in a primer system because you can't choke it down if it goes into the death revs on the trailer. but I just had it running on my trailer and when it did that a couple pumps of the primer made it settle down.
Yea mine is right around 50-52mph. I ordered the grips off ebay I believe. Some stuff from Amazon as well but ebay is better for this type of stuff. I was concerned at first about it pulling enough fuel when starting but it's always worked fine so far. Super easy topend rebuild to do. I'll do a cold start video one of these days after it's been sitting all winter. See how hard it is to start lol.

I wouldn't take the MCO to boating commission. It didn't work for me. They said I needed to get the registration from the previous owner and transfer it in my name. They said PA doesn't recognize a mco as ownership paperwork even though I had a bill of sale as well. Maybe the woman didn't know what she was talking about but this was at the fish and boat commission main office in harrisburg.

I'd check the water box in the exhaust for pieces of metal.
How many hours on that machine?
The gauge has never worked. I know it has power just can't really see what it's displaying.

It still looks ok but definitely has spots that need touched up again. I may start working on peeling it off and using a better spray paint.
