    It's so great to find this video, thanks so much! I found a 30s Rondinax in great condition in my fav photo store. Never developed my own film until now and your guide is by far the most helpful I've come across. Wish me luck on my first roll :D

    Great video, never seen one of these before and I've been developing film for 40 years! Many thanks.

    I was taught to use a squeegee at school, but I prefer to wipe the non-emulsion side with a clean piece of kitchen roll.

      I was taught the same at school, times change, seems your binge watching, thanks for you comments, your experience as a repair guy would be invaluable, I bodge my way through to try and get them working...please forgive me!

      The Photographer's Bag I still bodge my way through some of my cameras. I could do with a decent shutter tester and a collimator, to be honest.

      I am not that professional, use lots of test films(12 exposure) to see if it works, lots of black tape around backs for light seals, definite anateur stuff but rewarding when an old camera comes back to life...

      The Photographer's Bag You can always take shots at different shutter speeds and aperture combinations and check for consistency in the negatives. I’ve got some old Eastman 5231 (Plus X) in a bulk loader, specifically for this purpose. I also check that the camera is focusing accurately at the same time.

    Very interesting. Did you notice any differences in development compared to your usual method?

      Hi, the time in the developer stage was reduced due to continuous agitation but otherwise the same result as I get using the traditional Patterson tank, much easier to load the film into the tank and of course no need for a dark room or changing bag, would be great for beginners but they are quite desirable and hence getting stupidly expensive, especially the 120 version, do you do your own developing?

    • @tuisitala9068
      @tuisitala9068 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but I usually make a mess of loading the film onto the spool. It often sticks about half way. I think the film jumps out of the loading tabs. If this tank could be 100% effective in avoiding having to rewind and start again (in the dark of course!) this would be terrific.@@thephotographersbag

      @@tuisitala9068 these Agfa tanks are very easy to load and would solve the problem, have you tried trimming a bit off the sides of the film after removing the leader, this tends to make loading spirals a lot easier, Kaiser spirals are notoriously difficult to load and even the Patterson one are hard, I gave up using stainless ones as I could never get them to load properly.....

      @@thephotographersbag Yes, I have watched plenty of TH-cam videos on the subject, trimming the edges in different shapes, loading directly from the canister, holding the edge of the film with my fingers to keep the film from jumping out, changing bag (disaster!), blacked out room allowing the film to dangle freely. Nothing has worked reliably so this idea looks like the solution for me. I will have to persist with the Patterson style tank for 120 as the 60 Rondinax is pretty expensive. On ebay the 35 Rondinax varies between about £20 and £60 so this should be fun.

    I am having trouble with my 35U. For some reason the film will not load onto the spool correctly and keeps damaging and sticking together and so after development I have most of my film destroyed.

    • @tuisitala9068
      @tuisitala9068 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had this problem. To fix it I bent the corners over 90 degrees which makes the film grip the spool. Try it by wasting a few frames to get the confidence before closing the lid.

      Hi, I think, if I remember correctly that they were posted on Instagram, I tend to put my samples on there as I don't really edit my videos ( you can tell, LOL), have started to plan my videos now and try and include them in future....the lens was super sharp from memory, a lot of these cameras do not work, something to do with magnets I think....

    Not a big fan of these foldable black accordion bottles. I prefer cheaper plastic bottles (HDPE one) or glass bottles with beads if I need to remove air. It might be interesting to have a larger framing of your work area in the video. It's a little tight and we do not always see everything. thanks for the video.

    • @thephotographersbag
      @thephotographersbag  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the tip, the beads in a bottle idea sounds great, the glass bottles are heavier so would work better in a water bath I presume
      My films are rubbish really, very low production standards, will sort out the issue!
